So volume was down, but Blueberry count was up, so I made hours fixing screwups.
Me, seeing the daily Blueberry class:
Also spot is being mellow this morning. Either he forgot to take his crazy pills, or he’s been replaced by a pod cat.
“Seven years of college, down the drain!” - Bluto, Animal House.
Enjoy. Last time I went fishing it was a city lake,m and there was a high speed fish fight on the way home.
Next time, add a coupla shots of espresso? (Joking, joking!)
Yes, he absolutely did. Slept next to me with his head on a pillow (just like a person) most of the night. First thing I did when I opened my eyes was roll over, smile, and reach out a hand to his soft, warm fur & re-start the Purr Motor.
Only then did the self-assessment begin. (“How’s tummy? Do I hafta pee? HOW badly do I hafta pee?”)
I love that you get to do this. Please feel free to share any more little stories from your time with them!
I loved reading those.
What a friggin’ mess! Good luck adulting today.
In my household, it’s simply “SNUGGLE TIME! Time for snuggles!” Less detailed, but just as beloved.
Oh, and thank you kindly for the good wishes, everyone. It finally got chilly enough for me to get several more hours of deep, quality sleep, and I feel human again.
I wonder if I was running a fever, I kept getting chills while simultaneously being sweaty, at work, but I was shivering when I went to bed (hence the pile-up of blankets) but anyway, that’s behind me now.

Morning, all! I’m typing at ya from the office today: I no longer have a dedicated desk/cubicle in our facility, so I’m in a hoteling spot. It’s surprisingly not bad, though, with two monitors (important due to having two laptops) and plenty of desktop space. And my boss is sitting at the cubicle on the other side of the short fabric divider, which is nice because we can easily talk to each other while still getting a little privacy – hence, my ability to kill some time here. We’re sitting in a large room and there are a few other folks around, but not many. There are other peeps in the building, though, and I plan to eat lunch in the breakroom just in case I can be sociable with anyone.
Dinner with the boss and my fellow program leads last night was really nice. The six of us get along well and genuinely like each other. We’re on video with each other each morning, but we only see each other in person a few times a year…and we get to socialize even less often. We’ll see each other again tomorrow, when the boss’s boss will be holding an all-day meeting with all of the managers in our business unit, but it was nice to get to just hang out.
Yesterday afternoon, the woman who will be the Chief Election Officer at the precinct where I’ll be working on 11/05 reached out to all of the assigned Election Officers. She’s never worked our precinct before, and has only been a Chief one other time. She confirmed when we’ll be setting up the polling place (5pm the day before), asked everyone to let her know how comfortable they are with the equipment, and asked if we have any questions for her. I answered her questions, and gave her some background on my election experience and experience working with provisional ballots. I look forward to meeting/working with her. And there were several familiar names among the other officers, so it’ll be nice to get to serve with some folks who I’ve worked with before. Bring on Election Day!
For no particular reason, I didn’t sleep well last night; I kept waking up randomly (I didn’t need to pee, Bailey wasn’t barking, etc.). So I’m on the tired side today, and will be looking forward to going to bed a little early. I’d want to do that anyway, because tomorrow’s meeting will start early (for me).
I’ve only been here for ~4 hours, but I miss my doggy. I’ll be booking it out of here NLT 5pm – and, luckily, I have a reverse commute, so I should be home in 20-25 minutes.
Hi. I woke up this morning, and I had some caffeine, and…I came here for the first time in, like, four years.
Reading through here was awesome, because I got to see all these names of people I remember just, like, doing stuff. But it’s also overwhelming.
It’s cooler here today, but it hasn’t been truly cold yet this fall, which is wild for Illinois. My cat is on her heated pad. I can tell that she’s dreaming by the way her mouth sometimes twitches. The leaves are changing, which is lovely. I’ll probably spend my off-cycle time at work today looking at phone cases, because I’m still as vain and shallow as ever.
I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t make a difference. She had her shower and sat chatting with Jessica for a little bit afterwards, then almost immediately fell asleep again. She woke when FCD got home, ate a piece of pound cake topped with strawberries and cool whip, then fells asleep again. I just got back from Food Lion, and she’s still asleep. Maybe she’ll wake up for supper?
FCD stopped by the hospital and talked to BIL’s nurse (she knows BIL from his last 2 stays.) So far, there’s no discharge plan. No one there will ever call us, but FCD is going over tomorrow to see his case manager. At least he somewhere being kept clean and fed and safe. But it just occurred to me that his aquarium might not survive his absence. Oh well…
As I said, back from Food Lion where I spent almost $100 - remember the good old days when for $30 you’d have more groceries than you could carry?? Of course, minimum wage was like $2/hr and you could get a really nice apartment for $150/month. Good times, good times.
FCD is in his shop. I’m about to assume the crochet position again. Onward!!
I am a bit blah. Had a bit of fb drama with an old friend who I thought knew better. I realize that he has his own issues, but he hurt my feelings. Oh well. I’ll get over it and I’m sure he will too. We’ve been friends for over 30 years, what’s a little blip, right? ETA: He just apologized.
Nothing that I’ve eaten has tasted very good today. I threw away more than I actually ate. I think that part of the problem overall is that tomorrow is when I’m going to the new ortho doctor and I’m nervous.
Well, I’ve got to start bending some rude gesture forks. The place up north that sells them wants some more and I’ll be close by tomorrow, so I’m hopefully going to be able to drop some off.
Apparently, by “rain expected” what they meant was “clear blue skies & blazing sunshine.”
So I gathered up a bit of energy and a lot of household trash & let Monkey have some outside time in the sun.
Took a long & much-needed shower - jeebus did that feel good! - and now the water heater is churning again for the load of pillowcases and blankets I pulled off the bed.
I didn’t have the energy to do a full, proper bedding change & tackle the fitted sheet - this house’s bedroom is only a few inches wider than the bed, and only on one side (the bed is pushed smack up against the wall) so changing the fitted involves lots of gymnastics and crawling around & I’m just not up for that.
But at least most of the stuff will be clean when I crawl back into my cocoon tonight.
… after I replace what I removed, since I may not be up for all that after closing. Need to spend my energy wisely and plan ahead.
I have a little frozen TV dinner (butternut squash ravioli) to bring with me for tonight. It’s tasty enough to be tempting, and small enough that I’m not overwhelmed with OMGTOOMUCHFOOD.
Overall, I’d say life has vastly improved over yesterday!
Nice! Glad they’re selling. I bet they make a fun stocking-stuffer type of holiday gift.
I made sweet potato fries in the air fryer - they were pretty good for a first effort. The rest of supper was pulled poke and cauliflower parmesan. I also made whomp biscuits, but I didn’t eat any. Maybe for breakfast tomorrow.
Once Wheel comes on, I’ll head downstairs and pedal away, then do my shoulder stretches. It’s wonderfully mild out now, but a cold front is supposed to come thru tonight, and tomorrow’s high will be in the 60s, so windows will stay closed. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.
I need to decided what to feed the grands on Firday. Not mac-n-cheese again. FCD suggested pizza, but they only pick at it. Maybe I’ll do chickie nuggies. I should get grapes, too - Tobias lurves grapes.
For now, I’ll watch the news and crochet till David Muir is done.
The Oort cloud at the edge of the solar system is made up of the leftover bits and pieces from creation. FCM will be using her Oorts, i.e. leftover bits of leftover yarn from her fabulous creations to make blankets so I made up Oort Blankets. They really aren’t a thing unless you live in a mind like mine - and Bast help you if you do.
You were so close, LOL!!!
I was surprised the first time it happened to me, but then realized that it made a lot of sense that such a thing would occur to phones, so no, that wouldn’t surprise me. I wouldn’t have thought it would happen to a laptop, but I would have been wrong. That happens often, LOL!
Oh, how exciting! What smart SFS to find the perfect place to start their colony. I’ve been doing some research on the cute lil guys and am planning on telling Harry about nesting boxes. Harry is the one who maintains the Martin house and the other bird houses in the gully, I’m sure he’d put nesting boxes up for SFS as well.
Hubs thinks Harry is sweet on me, btw. I think that Harry likes having a damn yankee to tease and I know that he really likes it when I see him in the morning and give him coffee and cookies. If I’ve made cookies that Mrs Forest Fighter likes, he always asks if he can put some in his pocket for her.
Oh, how very fun. I wonder if I can convince hubs to mount some black lights in the back yard. Hmmm, maybe I’ll ask Harry to do it instead, LOL!
I am glad that you are recovering somewhat. Keep doing the exercises!
Yeah, going to the pub with friends is probably a very good idea. I hope he gets everything sorted soon.
One counter at a time. Don’t look at the rest, just do that counter and get off your knee for a while. Then do another counter later. It will get done when it is done.
I didn’t figure out how to sign up for mail-in ballots until after the deadline, so I looked at my sample ballot online and will be going to early vote tomorrow. Too bad that won’t stop the calls, but they all get blocked anyhow.
Tacos! Enchiladas! Tamales! We use a lot of pulled pork in this house. Ignore my suggestions if you sauce your pulled pork during the cooking process, BBQ sauce pork tacos doesn’t sound that great.
I’m sure that the recipients of your lap blankets will be so happy to have them. Your love shows.
I remember you talking about it before, I’m so glad you are up to going this year! Enjoy and find peace.
I sure hope you are feeling better tomorrow.
oh, Harry is mowing out back, Imma go ask him about SFS nest boxes. I’ll be back to talk about our wonderful day in a bit.
And a good late afternoon to all. Don’t have a soccer game to ref or a soccer team to coach tonight, so dinner (once I decide on it) will be at a more normal time. Braunschweiger up to Thanksgiving has been procured and put just enough gas in the tank to get me to Friday/Saturday, so I can do the Firday shopping with 4x Kroger points and get major $$$ taken off my gasoline bill (should be able to save $1.70/gallon). Evening will be reading and Wednesday NY Times puzzle solving, also need to put the garbage out, the cans are just about stuffed. Oh, and it’s 80F at about 5:25pm; we’ll see how warm it still is in about 2 hours…
BBBoo, sorry you’re having the problems with your card, it does remind me to keep checking mine at least twice a week. And hope you didn’t get sloshed…wait, that didn’t come out right…
Ummm, pardon me, what?
Oopsie, glad the dinner went well, hope that it’s a quiet election day in your precinct (it appears to be shaping up to be rather contentious in many places). Sweet dreams.
Angel_of_the_Lord, welcome back and thanks for reminding me it’s the fall in many places (I’m still mowing the (^&^ yard). Ands concur with Gabriel (or maybe even Gabe) as a Mumper name as suggested above by Coppertone.
JtC, yeah, I thought it was referencing the Oort Cloud, just didn’t make the connection. And not only Harry, feed most guys coffee and cookies and they’ll be sweet on you (we’re bumblers at this business…)
Sticky Buns, glad the drama wasn’t too serious, sounds like you have a winner with the rude gesture folks.
shoe, glad you are feeling better and that reminds me I need to change my sheets…sometime…
And it’s close to 7 pm so I think I’ll take that Hamburger I was planning on tomorrow out of the fridge and make this Cheeburger night. Have a good evening all.
Can’t they just eat whatever the rest of the family is having? Kids can eat for ex. pulled poke or beastloaf or rotiss chickie or whatever y’all are eating.
We have done voted, then driv our ballots to the county elections office to deposit in the inside ballot box, not the one on the street where teh hoi polloi congregate to foul the box and sloganate.
I still have to decide what that will be. I don’t plan my meals all that far ahead. In fact, I usually decide in the morning, but with kids, I need to plan for 2 extra people. My freezer packs were set up for 3 of us. Hence the need to figure something out.
The latest on the MN shooter is that he managed to elude the cops and took off across the state. On the way, he shot one random man in the chest and hijacked his car, then shot and killed a second random man, hijacking his car before the cops finally ran him to ground.
Welcome back! Weren’t you in the Nashville area at one point?
Yay!
Yay again!
I managed to reschedule my canceled dental appointment for this afternoon, so had to stay in pants most of the day. At the dentist’s , they pulled the loose wisdom tooth. As it was loose, it only took about 15 seconds once numb. The numbness is beginning to wear off and so far, no pain. It was oatmeal and yogurt for supper.
