Afternoon all. Got my July vacation pics up on Facebook, think most of you are friends of mine there, if you need the address just PM me. The promised rain/thunderstorms/apocalypse seems to have passed me by, so I’ll get the bathing trunks on and head over to the gym in a bit.
boo fae, oopsie, I’m nowhere near as organized as you (and for that matter, nellie) around the gym, Mon-Wed-Fri is swimming, whirlpool and sauna and Tue-Thur and maybe the weekend is on the stationary bikes with some sauna. Probably should be doing some weight training but just can’t get interested in it.
oopsie, you know it takes about 25-30 seconds from initial roll to wheels off the ground for most jet airliners? I’ve gotten in the habit of checking my watch just to make sure they don’t take too long…
{{shoe}}, get some rest.
doggio, lovely picture, never flew in one like Cookie did, but have walked through some.
taters, take it easy on the pavers; 65 lbs. at a time is a load for anyone.
OK, need to get about the backstroking (swimming, people!!!). Catch up later.
After Her Ladyship emerged I finished repacking for my next irk. We had breakfast and I zipped off to do a blood draw & grab a couple of groc items. Meanwhile laundry was turning. Now home, Korean leftover consumed for lunch and the last of the laundry about to finish in the dryer.
Her Ladyship is making noises about going out tonight for music and/or dancing which sounds fun. Of course I got barely 6 hours of sleep, so once laundry is away nappage shall promptly follow.
And we’re home. We got the PA system working - yay! And I finished all the jumper cables, but the cables in the tower all need to be terminated - I’ll be doing that tomorrow.
We went by MIL’s to drop off some 'maters and chat a bit. But we’re done for the day. We’ll be back there tomorrow. No boating this weekend…
Howdy Y’all! Stuff got did and we pigged out at the hog trough GC. The afternoon has been devoted to sloth, nappage, and day drinkin’. More sloth is now underway.
Pilot GC has good fried chikin. Thus it fulfilled the gnawin’ and cravin’ for said chikin.
I left early and didn’t stop for much tourist stuff because I missed my kitties. GG yelled STRANGER DANGER and ran off and hid under the bed. That prompted COC to fluff and hide under the bed. At least VBC knew who I was, she wanted scratchings and treats then went back to sleep.
I’m mostly unpacked and laundry is going. I told hubs about the Santa Clause Melon and he thought about it for a few minutes, then cut into it and ate half because it was so tasty. I’m going to look into growing them next year.
While I did try to restrain myself, my bowl collection has grown. I stopped at a road side rock vendor and bought a wonky stone bowl with an ammonite on the lid.
The seller threw in a small piece of Utah petrified wood as well, which is pretty and found a place with my other pretty rocks.
There is a Native American Navajo tribe that mixes horsehair into the clay for added strength. This is an unfired red clay bowl, the black lines are the horsehairs.
And this is a white clay bowl. White clay is much more delicate than red clay, hence the abundance of horsehairs in the pottery.
Utah is home of some magnificent weather sculpted sandstone
And I stopped and picked up a piece of shed rock. It was so fragile that it started falling apart as soon as I moved it, so I think I will give it to NF’s hubs (super rockhound) so he can look at it before it falls to bits of sand. I’ll tell NF to tell him to look at it outside, I had to vacuum my passenger seat after just putting it there.
I wish I had a better camera, the center layer is kinda crystalized and super pretty.
When you experience something like that for the first time, your thinking brain usually isn’t involved. I used to drive across flight lines between planes practicing touch and goes (guided by lights and flags) and got used to being able to see the tread on the wheels as they passed 10 ft. over head without flinching. You could always tell the noobs, though!
Yeah, I’ve been kinda slacking lately, thanks for keeping things in the gutter where they should be!
I don’t blame you for hiding out, the humidity just kills me. I’m such a weenie that I spent the last week complaining about the humidity in Boise. Do try to take care of yourself. If not for you, for Monkey.
Yay! Now we don’t have to worry about you dying of scurvy. Now eat a veggie or something.
JtC, you went to some beautiful places on your trip. Now I miss living in high desert country.
The abode is cleaneded up, laundry is done and groceries bought. Still eating supper (salad, poke steak and sweet corn with strawberries and whipped cream for dessert). Now to kick back with some TV and play in the studio.
It was beautiful. Do you know that you can tell your GPS to avoid interstates? That’s what I did for this trip, it took longer but I spent most of my drive alone on back roads. It was really beautiful.
So, my medicare advantage plan gives me “money” to spend on OTC pain meds and the sort of stuff you pick up at the drug store. My “money” has a limited life span so when I got the message just before I left that I was going to lose my “money” I spent it all on polident. We both use it daily and it doesn’t expire. The no expire thing is good because I opened the package today.
Old people get excited about the oddest things, LOL!!!
I did have most of a protein shake & a thingie of chicken soup during tonight’s shift, and feel much better.
Gentleman Caller is making noises about possibly visiting tonight. I’m torn. On the one hand, hey, fun! On the other hand, I’m pooped and really just wanna sit around. On the other other hand, maybe I could get a backrub out of it …
I do that when I’m out on the bike (my helmet has bluetooth). I’ve been on some interesting backroads with fun hills and curves that I wouldn’t have thought of otherwise.
The Spousal Unit discovered the Trader Joe’s ahi steaks in the freezer the other day, so I put the package in the fridge to thaw. We had ahi sashimi for dinner tonight. What we didn’t eat, more than half of it, was cubed and I’ve made my first attempt at poke. Haven’t tried it yet. Pretty full from the sashimi, but I’ll try it later.
I used regular Kikkoman soy sauce (2 tbsp), a tablespoon of sesame oil, sliced scallion stems, some nori, and toasted sesame seeds.
Evening all. Swimming and Sauna were completed and also helped with the soccer uniform selling (they can buy the uniform on-line or we’ll sell them the package; some like to come to us because we let the kids try the jerseys on to get the right size). Ham-n-Cheese has satisfied the appetite and I’ll probably head off to bed soon since the thunder-boomers woke me up last night. Tomorrow is a ‘we’ll see’ day in terms of activity.
FCM, congrats on Mission Complete with the PA.
Welcome Home, JtC. Nice pics, some interesting stuff there. And that should be enough Polident for awhile…
shoe, backrubs are good things.
OK, need to finish up here and be off to dreamland. Take care all.
I didn’t get much sleep. When I got up to pee, the pups decided to get up too.
I went back to bed but didn’t sleep. I should have gotten up and let them out. I couldn’t relax wondering if they really needed to go out or they were just following me.
I cussed out the DJ on the radio and my son wanted to know why I was so angry.
I’m angry because I’m tired, and the DJ was pissing me off.
I really don’t give a fuck what kind of coffee you drink, what brand of shoes you are wearing, or that your sister is getting married. I don’t know you, I don’t want to know you, and I sure as hell don’t want conversation that early in the morning.
Just play some damn music, the heavier the metal the better at that hour.
Not some sappy, ‘do you have the time to listen to me whine?’ because we all that is a big FUCK NO!
We went to McD’s for breakfast, and they shorted us a sandwich. I felt guilty not sharing mine with my son, who had just got off irk.
He got out later than expected because of an equipment malfunction, so I had to rush to get ready.
I hate rushing.
By the time we got to see the house, I was in a better mood.
This time the actual home owner gave me a tour. I’m still not 100% sure, but we are submitting an offer tomorrow. I thought I could take another day or so to think about it, but another offer came in and another is expected. The owner is going to make a decision Sunday morning.
I really like the house, the location, and the yard. I like looking at cows and cornfields.
I don’t know why that house feels smaller than my house, it’s not much bigger, about 50 sq ft, but there is no staircase taking up space.
Maybe because I’ve gotten used to 12-foot ceilings, and now normal ceilings feel heavy to me.
My son was back to not wanting to move again this morning.
He says we are going to move there and in 2-3 years I won’t like it and will want to move again.
I don’t know, I pretty much hate moving.
I took him to sonic and got him a Reese’s Peanut Butter Blast.
He still is resistant to moving.
He was up for 24 hours and went to bed at 2. He just woke up and is even more resistant to moving.
I thought some sleep might clear his head.
We’ll talk about signing the contracts in the morning.
That wasn’t enough sleep for that much work. Take him back to sonic and get him a mess of cheese curds with his Peanut Butter Blast. And then buy him a pizza with extra cheese.
We also hit a couple of really nice used book stores, but I didn’t take pics of them. I bought a new James Rollins paperback for full price just because he is so entertaining (Kingdom of Bones) and found several old copies of Amazing Stories. I also found a moldering paperback copy of Mountains of Madness which I snatched up to add to my collection of moldering pulp fiction.
I need to figure out what to do with them, they are falling apart and shedding bits and fragments due to the effort of standing upright in the bookcase, but if I vacuum seal them, I can’t read them. Of course, I can’t actually read them because they are falling apart but I still loves them and wants to be able to pretend that I can read any of my books I want.
Those are twin boxes, so there is about a three year supply we need to find a place for. You should check with your insurance plan and see if they have old fart healthy living bribes because I am sure that your regular gym time would get you such riches as well.
Successfully nibbled on various things. Went to bed early-ish feeling better than I have in days, got all comfy … and what is this unfamiliar sensation?
Why, I’m hungry. I’m yawning incessantly and almost have a headache I’m so tired, but it was quickly apparent that sleep would not happen until something slightly more substantial was assimilated.
But I’m way too tired at this point to do anything ambitious, so there’s a quad of whomp croissants in the oven.
I was gonna suggest the opposite advice feom JtC and point out that he seems much more cooperative when he’s hungry and sleep-deprived.
