(Old) Spot-ify: The MMP That's The Cat's Meow

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 2c/36f with a predicted high of 5c/40f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Look outside. You can be fucking sure that Mother Nature despises your very fucking existence.” A bit harsh, I think? We’re expecting some sun later to brighten things up.

Cherry gets very insistent - as soon as I get out of bed in the morning, she keeps running to me and then to the top of the stairs. She doesn’t like the fact that I am not taking the hint to go down and fill up food bowls!

If only they had opposable thumbs…

Happy Doperversary, CatGlove!

Hope you heal up soon! Shadow is not a danger to my health, he has just become rather demanding as he gets older. The girls are quite determined to trip me up at every opportunity.

{{{{{Taters}}}}} congrats to you for standing up for yourself and not signing. I am sorry things are so bad and frustrating for you though, I hope you can find the strength to get through it.

Crikey…there’s one on the other side of my town, and one on the way to the M5 so even I have more than Merrylande!

Around here, the police will pull you over for that. Sudden stop, and the roof snow ends up all over the windscreen and you can’t see where you’re going. There’s also a chance it will end up all over the car behind you.

I’m sure if Sticky Buns lived over here, she’d be voting for Count Binface at every election

VanGo I’m sorry about the truck, I hope you can find a replacement soon. What an absolute pain in the arse!

Sensei I hope you and your daughter are soon feeling better.

I made it through yesterday with my hurty shoulder, although driving to the station to fetch 'im indoors was not fun as I can’t turn my head properly without pain. Fortunately the roads are quiet at that time of night and it’s a short drive. Today I am full of Ibuprofen and am grumpy because common sense says I should not go to the gym tomorrow but heart says I want to.

I have much to do today, and all of it causes me pain. Even just sitting at my desk is uncomfortable but it can’t be helped. Roll on 4pm when I can haul myself back home!

Both sides of mine arrived in the early 1900s. I’m wondering if something happened in Poland that caused people to emigrate…

Daughter is dealing with that - all winter related. First, she slipped on ice and landed hard on her tailbone. Then as that was gradually getting better, she had another ice-related slip that has left her with a painful bruised thigh. You and she could commiserate over a stiff drink. Feel better soon!

Stoopit short night. I couldn’t fall asleep last night and I woke before 5, again unable to sleep. So I’m up and fed and it’s just 6AM. Part of my sleeplessness was my thinking about watching the grands. I need to discuss with FCD, but I’m thinking I may just watch them at their house, provided I get dropped off/picked up. Daughter and SIL won’t get home till late and I’m concerned about driving in the dark when tired. But I also don’t want to have to get the kids up and dressed for school - I don’t know their routine and I don’t want to deal with it. Must discuss with spouse and SIL.

I need to get FCD to take our mower to Amish Dave today. It’s going to be decent, weather-wise and we’ve got to get it serviced before spring. Dave is really busy so the turnaround time can be a couple of months. I’ve been begging him to take the damned thing since November, and we see how that’s gone. So today I need to up the naggy.

And, being Firday, it’s laundry day. I’m thinking it’s also a good day to change the sheets. Not sure how much more excitement I can handle in one day! On the plus side, toe continues not to hurt, so I’m taking that as a sign that it’s not infected. So yay for that.

Caffeination continues. Happy Firday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 62 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 77 and partly N.O.S. I have a big chikin cookin’ in a stock pot as I post. It will get made into chikin sallit later today. Tomorrow mornin’ the sallit will become sammiches for the after funeral reception. The conversion to chikin sallit is today’s main chore. We will also indulge in RDOS inactivities as is our wont. Sup shall be majik intartoobz pizza and sallit.

Cat_Glove happy doperversary!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Oh, I might’ve missed that! Thanks.

Many happy returns @Kitten_Mitten on your substantial financial contributions to … oh, wait, that’s the other speech. { fumbles in pockets }

The heart wants what it wants.

But does your shoulder get a vote?

(Oooh, can you just do leg presses or something like that?)

Nah, I’m sure we would’ve heard something.

I really like this phrasing!

My raspberry puff thingies cordially invited Mr. Sandman to the party, and I was happily asleep around 3.
It being a bit after 7 when I woke back up … { does math on fingers } yup, customary four hours.

(I also …

Summary

really needed to pee for the first time in days, which - while still an annoyance 1st thing on a cold morning - is a good sign that my kidneys didn’t explode.

Go hydration!)

Speaking of, I really want a cuppa tea, dammit, but the throat still seems tender … and I know I’ll want one tonight at work.

Wow, years ago, wanting to imbibe a brown liquid but holding off cuz I knew I’d want some later used to mean something … far more irresponsible than some damn tea.

Good morning.

It’s 29F and partly cloudy right now. We’ll have sun later this morning but be back to overcast skies by late afternoon, and our high temperature is expected to be 42F. It’s a dull weather day here. Most of the snow around my place is gone.

Happy Cake Day, Catglove!

Shoe, I’m glad you are feeling closer to normal.

Chef, I’m pretty sure non-working heat in a multi-family housing unit (condo/apartment) is a code violation. I think I’d be calling the city or county. If anything, the city people come out, telling the management there that they need to step up their game. I’d call OFTEN.

I am not sure what I plan to do today. I’ll have to go to the MAUL and buy work clothes. I was down to only three outfits for work ('cause I got fat), so I need to purchase two or three more. If I don’t go today, it’ll have to be Saturday or Sunday because I return to the office on Monday.

I’m debating going to four ten-hour days per week. I still haven’t fully decided. On the one hand, I can easily handle the hours. I’m pretty much doing 10 or 11-hour days anyway because of when I arrive at the office, but on the other hand, any time I take leave, I’d have to burn 10 hours versus nine. And, while I have plenty of leave (already at the max carryover for the year), I like the idea of having all the hours I do in case of illness or if I decide I’ve had enough and retire. It’s not a decision I must make right now, so I’m not in a rush.

Sorry to read you and your girl are feeling ill, Tokyobayer. I hope you’re both feeling much better soon.

I’m pretty sure it’s state law here to remove the snow from the top of your vehicle, but I don’t think it’s heavily enforced since lowland snow is such a rarity. I remember this coming up during one or even rarer multi-day huge snow events.

Thanks to all for your hugs.

Okay, I need to finish my coffee, feed the pups, and get on with the day.

Take care.

To be fair, these are pretty low-paid folks whose job is basically to answer the phone. They have set instructions about most issues that come up and I would guess that no heat isn’t on the list. Using initiative is probably not a job criterion.

Good morning all. Today is the Great February Friday Shopping trip to Kroger, I think I will have breakfast at the Sunny Street cafe near Kroger to fortify myself for shopping. Rain showed up late last night and brought some cold air with it, so it’s only 47F now and will only reach 61 today, but at least the rain has apparently left the area.

Have read all but brain is not braining yet, so yeas, boos, hugs, tears and general goodwill to all. Have a good Firday.

Well, ol’ John Deere has gone tits up. When Dave started it, he said it didn’t sound right, and right there on the trailer, he determined that one of the cylinders wasn’t firing. We figure the mower is probably 12-15 years old and not worth getting the engine rebuilt. So I’m off to research mowers on line. FCD asked Dave what he’d recommend buying or avoiding. He said stay away from Cub Cadet, Troy, and Husquvarna as they’re all built by the same company and quality isn’t all that good. He said the John Deere mowers one buys at Lowe’s are lower quality than they used to be and the parts are expensive. He did recommend Skag - so I’ll have a look at that. Just what we need - a multi-thousand expense. Dammit. We’ll just give the old mower to Dave to use for parts.

And while we were loading the stoopit thing on the trailer, FCD, slipped and fell, and he’s hurting. Dammit. I feel bad for him since it was partly my fault - I’m just not strong enough to be much help. So my part will be online research.

First load in the washer, two more sorted and ready. I also did a pretty comprehensive rollsuck. Ziva marks her territory with hair, and she’s the same color as the carpet, so it’s not obvious till the canister is full. Oh, and I loaded the dishwasher with last night’s dishes. So I’ve gotten a fair bit done before 9.

Still a wee bit of blood on the gauze. but absolutely no toe pain. I’m guessing it’s just drainage. And that’s the toe update for today.

taters - I don’t envy your trek to the maul. Mostly because I hate clothes shopping, so I may be projecting. I hope you find appropriate attire quickly and on sale!

I know there was more I wanted to say, but my brain is churning about the stoopit mower, so I’d best start researching.

To those who sent me PMs and to those who responded here, thank you for your well wishes and suggestions re: hamstring surgery. The bottom line is the tear is too far gone for repair ( the muscle has retracted 5 inches) even with a donor tendon, and, gasp, I’m kinda too old. I looked up the recovery for a regular hamstring repair. 4-6 weeks of 25% weight bearing, no driving. PT for many months. Don’t sit on the tendon (guess the patient is supposed to stand?). And more.

That’s doable in a 19 year old, but not in me. Truthfully nothing has changed except now I know what is happening. I’m still processing the fact that it will never heal, and there is a small feeling of betrayal that NOT ONE HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL suggested seeing an ortho. I saw the ER doc, my PCP, assorted PTs.

The only thing I have to do is find a taller mounting block.

And make Dorito salad.

Happy Friday!

Since I stayed up until 2, I didn’t get up until 830 this morning.
It is N.O.S. and windy outside, 39, feels like 29, degrees.
The fog had lifted and the snow had stopped by the time my son got off irk.

I have a long list of stuff to do this weekend. Fortunately, most of the stuff on the list won’t take long to do, and none of it involves leaving the house.

I hate mauls and clothes shopping.
Since I live in sweats, yoga pants, or t-shirts, I can order everything from da jungle. I do not miss having to dress for the office.
I don’t miss communting either.

I’m glad you are feeing better Shoe

I guess I should get up off my ass and get some stuff done around here.

I’m feeling a big feeling of betrayal on your behalf. A lot of medical professionals let you down and being one-a health professional-I am ashamed of them.

This happens so often, and sadly, more often to women and older patients and g-d forbid you are 5 pounds overweight. If you’re an older, plump woman it is basically “what do you expect? You’re old and fat, go away, give up on a decent quality of life and stop bothering me”.

I hope you can easily find a mounting block (maybe we could friend fund @Paintcharge to custom build you one and buy him a spiffy truck to deliver it to Ariel’s barn? If wishes were horses…)

For you {{{{{{{ }}}}}}} and for Ariel, who must really miss carrying you {{{{{{{ }}}}}]].

I hope that you’re both feeling better soonest.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, bed stripped, a load of sheets / towels in the dryer, jeans in the wash and everything else on deck. Fixing to do KP and houseirk and play another 600 rounds of fetch with Nelson and Penny (did I mention, she’s LIVELY!).

She and Nelson have worked out their turf issues. Given that she spent puppyhood with an elderly, sometimes cranky, alpha basset hound, she’s amenable to not being the leader of the pack.

I did teach her something new this morning. I trained Nelson to sit still when I take meds by giving him a training treat before I took them, then another when I’ve finished and he’s sat there like a good boy. I worked with her the same way. She’s had basic obedience training, so it wasn’t hard.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

In the 20s today, with generous snow predicted for tomorrow. Temps will plunge again next week.

The wife was unable to find the cat yesterday, despite looking in her favorite hiding spots. She couldn’t have gotten out, so I knew she was here somewhere. As I’m walking to the bathroom, I hear a quiet “meep” greeting and looking to my right I see a little face peering at me from my closet, where Sadie is roosted on top of my pile of sweatpants. Hey, whatever makes you happy, little girl. She’s in there again this morning. I’d take a photo, but she scares easily if she thinks she’s in trouble.

We’re still hitting exercise class regularly, so are happy about that.

So they had a new person on Bottom Red, but even though she’s one of the more experienced loaders, it still went FUBAR. And more payroll cuts next week. I stopped at the Likker Sto and bought rum more gin, since Spot guzzled my last fifth. I got a load of laundry in the dryer, so now it’s naptime.

It’s 62 degrees Ferret Height(16.7 Centipedes) and sunny, so she has a funny way of showing it.

The “we’re doing the legal minimum because we only care about profits” school of medicine.

:partying_face::champagne::cake:HAPPY DOPERVERSARY CATGLOVE!!!:cake: :champagne::partying_face:

There’s a Serbian gentleman who’d like to take a shot at it.

Sounds like when I had Gordie and Nelly.

I love you.

Piper Cat 2 does that as well; loves our bedding closet, second shelf up from the floor as a cozy spot.

Buddy’s fond of closet shelves or an extra blanket that’s on the floor in there.

Taz got into the top of my closet once and couldn’t figure out how to get down. I assisted him and from then on, we kept the closets closed. Ziva still prefers her under-the-bed den.

at least twice i forgot to count noses on the way out. koritza was in the closet for hours. she is a good girl and did not do anything inappropriate, she did knock things off shelves and move things around.

counting noses is very important.

happy doperversary, kitten mitten!

The morning chores are done, the !4! big buttermilk pancakes at Sunny Street Cafe have filled me up, maybe until Tuesday, and Kroger actually had everything that was on my list (including pudding cups!), so shopping has been done and stowed in it’s correct place, albeit I had to play a little freezer tetris to get it all in there. Pepsi 12 packs were ‘buy 2, get 3 free’ (a ridiculous deal IMHO, it has to be a loss leader, but at least I am stocked up until June). Also was down to about $8 in my pocket, so go a little more cash for the rest of February. Will rest a bit then try to improve on the 600 yards of swimming I did Wednesday.

FCM, presume this is the driving mower, so I can’t offer any suggestions; my push mower is a Toro and has served me pretty well. Hope FCD is aching too badly.

{{wet one}}

A lot of my clothes shopping recently has been on-line or at Duluth Trading (for jeans). I probably need to replace some of my t-shirts, they are all 2XL and I am not, but most of them have writing/quotes/jokes/pictures on them and finding replacements is a bit of a chore, so I’ll get to it eventually…

BBBoo, maybe not the truck, but something for wet one via VanGo?? I’m down for that.

red, hope the doggie twosome continues peacefully.

Cookie, I like Sadie’s hiding place; and your patience with her.

And onward into the afternoon. Have a good one all.
