(Old) Spot-ify: The MMP That's The Cat's Meow

Our push mower is also a Toro, self-propelled on demand, and it’s pretty good. But, yeah, we need a rider. I figure between the yards and the strip along the road, it’s around an acre - way more than I want to push-mow. I thought about getting a quote to have it done and balance that against the cost of a mower, but I dunno - mowing is a major source of freah air and sunshine for me.

Laundry is done and mine is all stowed. FCD’s is all piled on the bed for his attention. I think it’s recliner time.

Can you politely “suggest” to management (maybe while tapping a baseball bat against your palm) that perhaps this situation be added to the list?

Including, Step One: inform the caller that the emergency fix-it person is being contacted at the moment and is informing us he’ll arrive shortly.

Now that’s a mechanic.

This may be overly simplistic, but can the existing one be modified?
Nail/bolt/screw additional material - I’m assuming it’s made of wood - to either the top or bottom, maybe add an additional step?

If this is a “duh, we thought of that” suggestion, I apologize.

Bon apetit!

Awww, she gave away her hiding spot? That shows a lot of trust - most cats have a few good spots as aces up their Cheshire sleeve, so they can do the disappearing act at will e.g. impending vet visit.

Heh. Well played, sir.

What kind didja get?

Whelp, it was time to get up, so I’ve extracted myself from my cocoon (had the heat off since bio-break, and man did I sleep well as a result!) and have moved the whopping five feet to plunk back down in my chair, after turning the heat back on.

What? It’s not even 2 p.m. I ain’t in no hurry. Yet.

Sounds like you’ve got it figured out!

Our vet said that hard water is bad for their urinary health and can cause crystals in males. Soft water usually has too much sodium for their kidneys. Now I’m so spoiled to R/O water that I bring extra when we go on day trips!

My ancestors were much more boring than that!

Yeah, we often teach our fuzzbutts that exact same lesson!

I actually think you should go for a nice gentle swim to help work and stretch the sore muscles without putting too much of a load on them.

Of course, the chances that I am wrong about that are pretty high, so you might ask someone who knows about that sort of injury?

I hope you are better soon.

Good luck at the maul.

I hate trying on clothes at stores, you never know who tried them on before you did. When I find something I like, I often go back and buy more in different colors so I don’t have to bother trying them on again. I’m not sure if that’s my aversion to trying clothes on or because I’m so lazy and that is so easy.

She had a number she could have called if she thought it was important enough. She didn’t think that leaving a building full of old people without heat was important enough to make one phone call. I stand by my words. (I didn’t say she couldn’t have pants or socks or a shirt, I’m not a monster!)

Dang it! And super dang about FCD falling. We don’t bounce nearly as well as we did when we were young.

I’m glad you are doing so well.

It’s warm, comfy and smells like her hooman. No wonder she likes it there. (Yes I know that your sweats have been laundered but cats have super sensitive noses.)

Reposting in complete agreement!

Do you know someone with a sewing machine? Taking the seams in on t-shirts is a pretty simple task, so it might be cheaper and easier to pay someone to alter your current batch than try to replace them.

Popping in in the midst of pre-trip madness. Old Flame says he’s calling later. I’ll be packing while I listen. When laundry is done, I’ll head to the pharmacy to pick up my Epi-Pens, stop at grocery store, and quick stop at maul. [Waves at taters in case she’s coming to this maul instead of the Tacoma one].

WetOne, that’s a lot of muscle length to lose. Does this affect your hips, back, etc. because of that? (My med training consists solely of :musical_note: The thigh bone’s connected to the hip bone. The hip bone’s connected to the back bone.") Hey, I just remembered something! My ortho doc said that stem cells would’ve helped a lot if they’d been available back then. Boo, know anything about that? This was over 10 years ago, so I’m guessing things have changed. Also, not sure how stem cells actually fix this stuff.

Gotta run. Healing thoughts to those sick or recovering!

Cat Glove, Happy Cake Day!!!

Well, today FCD got written notice of his brother’s eviction - he’s got till Mar 3 (BIL, not FCD) BIL has not called again, nor have we heard from his case worker. FCD can’t let it go - he complains about things falling on him but he feels like he has to help his brother (tho NOT in our house.) I hope he just backs off and lets the case worker deal with it.

Understandable sentiment, but - and this is absolutely none of my business - how on earth could he help?

Saw an Amazon van with the slogan “Everything including the kitchen sink. Delivered.”

Sure enough, when I searched Amazon, they DO sell kitchen sinks. (snicker)

I know Aldi here is not the same as yours, but I’m going to look for this anyway. That looks great!

I often use subtitles for Quite Interesting as some of the accents are difficult to understand, especially with the laughter. Unfortunately I read faster than they talk, which interrupts the flow.

Probably too late, but my vote is gold.

Does seem to be a bit unfair, but at least you’re at the right place to get it seen to.

Oh that sounds goooooood. Just put brie on the grocery list and I’ll look at the frozen food section at Aldi and see if they have something similar. Would be probably a minor miracle if they did. They do have whomp crescrent rolls and I can get raspberry jam - or I already have whoe cranberry sauce, so I could assemble something myself.

1620 :stuck_out_tongue:

Happy Cake day to Catglove.

And {{{{Taters}}}}} Good luck with the maul. I have my outfits for this time of year, and I replace pieces when necessary. I’m glad I don’t have to dress up, just look presentable.

Poor kitty. Hopefully she gets used to the phone being whipped out for a picture, because she is gorgeous.

I’ve done that in the past and then found out the other ones I bought were either mis-marked or poorly constructed, and ended up having to take them back. I try on everything before buying. And if I buy something on-line, I try it on as soon as it the package arrives, so I can return it before the 30 days are up.

Tomorrow morning I’m making scones (sorry, can’t ship any to Boo, they’d take too long), then drop off the glass recycling on the way to the hair salon. On the way back from the salon, I’ll stop at Aldi and then make lunch. Then there will be some “magic words” as I finish gathering all the information for the accountants. And there will be laundry.

Last week I was talking to a neighbor and she noticed hubby doing the vacuuming. She was very impressed that he vacuums. He really doesn’t listening to the vacuum cleaner, but it bothers him less if he’s the one vacuuming. And he doesn’t mind doing it. Works for me!

I think it’s time to watch something amusing on tv.

Happy Doperversary, catglove! :tada:

I had some more “great timing” luck today, all because Wegmans doesn’t carry the kind of protein shakes that I like. I have an Amazon “Subscribe & Save” plan, and the next shipment is coming on Monday, but every now and then I need to buy a few shakes to tide me over between deliveries – and this morning I realized that I didn’t have any for the weekend. Plus, I was out of bananas. I prefer Wegmans bananas, and they have a good deli sandwich that I like to have for lunch, but when I logged into Instacart I remembered that they don’t carry “my” shakes. I decided to stop being lazy and just make a quick trip to Safeway (1 whole mile away), where I know they have bananas and my shakes, which reminded me that I’d forgotten to haul the biiiiiig trash can out to the curb! Pickup is usually in the afternoon and it was only ~10:45am (and the can was pretty full; I didn’t want to skip this week), so I decided to take a chance and put the can out and then go to the store. I was only gone for about 40 minutes, but when I got home the trash had been picked up! :astonished:

This will be one last “do as little as possible” weekend before things spin up. My only plans are to have lunch with my BFFs on Sunday, as long as WifeBFF feels up to it that day. The next couple of weeks will be on the busy side: Monday I’ll be going to the office for a few hours to meet a new co-worker, Wednesday I have a tattoo removal appointment, Thursday I go to the optometrist, Friday I go to MD for the weekend jazz festival, the following Thursday I go back to MD to take my dad to his trigger finger surgery, and a week from tomorrow I have a ticket for a local Lego event.

That’s freaking poetry. :sob:

Until I moved into this house – with its handful of large trees in the back yard – I had no ideas that birds could get concussions. Several years ago, Bailey managed to startle a bird: it flew smack into a tree trunk and fell out of the sky. I wrestled the dog away from the “dead” bird and called animal control, but by the time the officer arrived the bird was gone. I was astonished! But he told me about bird concussions, and that they were fairly common (from things like flying into trees). Now if I see a bird on the ground that isn’t moving, I know to wait a while before making any calls!

Early “happy anniversary” to both of you (:clinking_glasses:), and early “happy birthday” to Mr. The Cane!

Oh man, those look good!

That’s exactly my problem with subtitles, too! Also, I often multitask while watching TV/movies – my iPad is always in front of me, and I’ll frequently want to look something up on IMDb, etc. – and I can’t do that if I have to read dialogue. For that reason, I can’t tolerate movies with subtitles; only TV episodes…and only if the spoken language is French, because that’s the language I studied and I like to challenge myself by trying to catch a word or phrase every now and then.

That’s what’s bugging him - he looks at the money that BIL inherited and that we’re managing for him and the apartments in this county. The cheapest places are in the worst area and will still cost more than 3 times what his subsidized rent and utilities cost him. Which means he might afford a place for 3 years. Maybe. The guy had a great deal and he blew it by his erratic and occasionally violent actions. He never hurt anyone, but he threatened, and that was enough.

We are absolutely in agreement that he will not live here. But beyond that… I think he needs to leave it up to the program that’s been trying to help him.

Supper tonight will probably be forage. I just can’t get motivated to cook anything. I ran the roll-suck and did laundry - that’s quite enough for one day, I think. OK, I forgot to change the sheets - maybe tomorrow.

Off to my recliner while my sweetie naps.

Monkey has a clean poopin’ box, and I dumped out AAALLLLLL the other household trash. Go me!

(Y’all, do NOT let me forget to roll the big bin out on Superb Owl night; that sucker is now filled to the brim. Granted I got rid of random clutter and empty boxes. So yay, go me on that count, too.)

Pretzel has a refilled water bowl, though I’m sure she’d like snax.
You’ll hafta wait, pretty girl.
But, go me, on at least the bare minimum.

I have the space heater running in my teensy-weensy yellow polka dot bikini literal water closet (my actual closet is legit bigger, though not by much) and a set of all-clean clothes is ready to go.

Bringing an insta-cup of mashed N.O.T. as tummy-easy food, plus one (1) slice of cake, as a bribe/dessert. Hey, it’s Long Night.

Also a handful of Ricola, because scratchy throat. (Sorry, Boo, I tried really hard with your instructions but was a bit non-compliant about smoking.)

Hopefully get the ratties fed’n’watered real quick, too.
Okay, gotta run! :pizza:

This picture of Goo ‘blepping’ came up as a memory on my Farcebook feed.

Imgur

According to records, Goo’s birthday was June 22nd, 2013. (They probably made it up, but anyway June 22nd is her official birthday.) The picture was taken in February 2020, and we adopted her in 2019. I thought we were told she was 8, but I guess we were told she was six.

This is a test of my new bluetooth keyboard with my tablet. It works! YAY!

Carry on.

Thank you, the golds have it. I’m in the middle of a rather complicated section of a different piece and don’t want to switch until I’m done, but I will have finished pics today or tomorrow.

That’s happened with things I’ve ordered, but I’ve been pretty lucky with store clothes.

I turn the TV on for background noise while I’m stitching and there is currently a commercial showing a young woman getting all sorts of frisky while watching her male partner voluntarily cleaning the kitchen. I’m pretty sure it is an ad for the cleaning products he was using but I don’t really pay that much attention anymore.

When I was working, I would plan one of those every so often. Sometimes ya just gotta have some down time.

Thank you. It’s been an interesting journey. If I had it to do all over, I’d want to do it with him again.

Stay strong, cause I’m pretty sure that if FCD gets involved now, his case worker will be happy to wash her hands of him and then you will end up with your own basement troll.

So it is bright and sunny today but we are still under a flood watch until Sunday afternoon. When I crossed the river on my way to the gym, I could see that it was almost at the banks and some of the creeks sere turning into ponds.

The pool water was cold! The swim teacher told me that the water was “out of balance” and that they did a 20% change last night in a last ditch attempt to avoid “chemically shocking” the water and having to close the pool for a few days. Not having any idea what she was talking about…I just nodded and gasped where it seemed appropriate.

I noticed that they had put more lockers next to the equipment room doors. These are small cubby sized lockers but they are also free, all you have to do is put your stuff in and turn the key and take it with you.

So far there isn’t any news about hubs cousin’s hubby. He’s spent some time at the hospital but they are only letting two people visit at a time and of course wife and kids come first. He’s in charge of taking care of their dog and said he would be taking cousin and family food in a while.

Mom called to complain that she’s snowed in! Well, not really, her neighbor shoveled her driveway and walks for her, but she is in the habit of taking a shuttle bus to the senior center for lunch and they are closed due to the snow AND Friday night bingo has been cancelled, so there isn’t anywhere for her to go so she might as well have 6 feet of snow against her door. She does have wine and I recently sent her some of the cookies she likes so at least she has those small comforts!

Jolene and GG are currently cuddled up having a nice nap together so now is a great time to stitch cat-free. More later

Howdy Y’all! Chikin sallit got made this mornin’. We decided on majik intartoobz pizza and sallit for N.O.L. Between eatin’ that and all the effort this mornin’ nappage was muchly needed. Then we day drank. Gin and tonic’s because we felt a touch of malaria and scurvy comin’ on. I shall now go read for a while and then have Netflix, chill and popcorn time.

I haven’t posted the pictures from my last couple of classes. Today I finished month eleven of the class and the final tomorrow will be the border. I have been assembling as I go so here is the completed top (minus the border)

There’s a woman in the building who has taken upon herself to create a book of people and their pets. She told us that she wanted to update ours with a photo of us with the new cat, but I had to tell her that wasn’t going to happen. Firstly, she won’t come out if strangers are in the house, and secondly, she won’t let anybody hold her. She’ll put up with it briefly but will bolt at first opportunity. I guess she equates it with being caged or going to the vet.

Picked up some essentials at the store: ice cream, doritos, nacho dip, guac, and milk. Dunno what that last thing is for.

Just the store-brand chocolate. Will experiment more in the future.

Been swimming and sauna-ing this afternoon, a bit tired from the shopping trip this morning, but feeling ok. Might go back to the gym for some walkies after eating my Big Bowl O’Sallit this evening, we’ll see if I’m motivated enough. Just finished a mid-day snack of an apple and some baby carrots (healthy, I iz…if you don’t count the 2 White Castles I ate before them…).

Hippy’ lovely work.

JtC, I’ve occasionally found the pool water frigid, so I just spend my time in the jacuuzzi and the sauna and forget about the pool. Your hardier that I am.

FCD, I can feel for FCD, but I think JtC is right, if he gets too involved now you’ll end up in the ‘roommate from Hell’ scenario, and you two do not need that stress after the last couple of years.

flyboy, Goo is a cutie.

shoe, don’t overdo and relapse, but sounds like you’re doing Ok.

Oopsie, good move on the trash can; I try to get it out the night before, since I know if I leave it for the morning they’ll be there right at the crack of dawn.

nellie, have a safe trip.

Not really, guess I could try the dry cleaners, they do alterations, but most of the T-shirts are 15-20 years old so probably need replacing.

And back this evening for the late-night final.

Hippie - that quilt is gorgeous!!I am beyond impressed with your mad quiltin’ skillz!

Still trying to decide if we’re going to do supper. It would be so much easier if the supper fairy would appear with something ready to eat. Stoopit supper fairy. So unreliable.

I don’t watch the Nuffles anymore. I’m opposed to CTE. So, shoe, I’ll hafta hope somebody else reminds you on Superb Owl night, whenever that is. My brother is a member of a Krewe in NOLA, so he’s probably mega-busy getting their float ready for Mardi Gras. I’m told the Owl and Mardi Gras are the same week in NOLA this year, so the city is more of a madhouse than the usual craziness of MG.
Be kind. Be well. Be.
