(Old) Spot-ify: The MMP That's The Cat's Meow

When my guy got diagnosed they had meds that you rubbed into the cats ear. It was great. He lived a long time after. They really should make all cats meds into the rub in the ear but I guess it doesn’t work for everything. Anyhow, best to Goo.

No, overtime has to be pre-approved; so I am working ‘overtime’ to make up for extra time out, and recording exactly eight hours. Same thing I’ve been doing all these years, except they’re not getting any extra.

We’re a non-profit, so raises are problematic. We all worked seven years without a raise. We’ve been getting 2% raises since the previous new president took over, and our PTO scheme has improved. But it does take some creative accounting to make it work. My department used to be a money-maker, until BMCRA unilaterally changed their compensation scheme. Now I’m not directly ‘earning my keep’; but the data does make our credit reports more valuable.

Ooof that explains a lot. Bless you and others like you that can handle non-profit work. Most of it is for things that are badly needed, but the organizations themselves always seem to be full of disfunction and drama. Hats off to you for being able to hang in there so long!

At first, WifeBFF said she was tired but up for lunch: we made a plan for me to pick up our favorite burgers on the way to their place, but 5 minutes later she cancelled when she realized she was struggling to pull herself together. I’d barely started getting ready to leave the house – I hadn’t even put my contact lenses in yet – so resuming “putzing around online in my PJs” mode took all of two minutes. She and HusbandBFF both apologized, but of course I completely understand; I just really hate that she’s feeling so bad. :anguished: We’ll try again in a couple of weeks.

Now that there won’t be burgers from the good burger place, and as a consolation prize for not getting to see my BFFs, I think I should honor National Pizza Day by ordering Pizza Hut for lunch. It’s the only reasonable course of action.

Speaking of pizza, I meant to mention this earlier: thoughts and prayers for shoe and her colleagues this evening!!

That’s kinda scary…I’m glad the ibuprofen is working!

Thanks. They did call the pediatric nurse line and she agreed that was pretty high for a 7yo but just treat to bring down down the fever and keep her comfortable and hydrated. We’re checking the temp and watching her activity and seeming comfort. A temp that night that suddenly is most likely viral so no point to taking her in for antibiotics. She”ll have her own dedicated personal nurse grandma right at her side. Phooey on the Super Bowl! I”ll be watching the Puppy Bowl with her.

In sorry you don’t get to see your friends today but it’s good she”s doing good self care.

We were founded in 1896 to advocate for laws for sound credit, protect businesses against fraudulent debtors, facilitate the exchange of credit information among businesses, and to develop better credit practices. It’s not like we’re feeding the hungry or housing homeless people or working for human rights, or anything. Just businesses helping other business to make credit decisions.

There are people who have been there longer than I have. Like 30+ years.

After reading about y’all’s tummy troubles, I have my own today. I was to have the first sock lesson today…but I need to be able to “run” quickly to a bathroom and didn’t want to chance the commute time.

I’ll hopefully will pick up the items tomorrow so I can get ready for next lesson.

Hopefully things settle and I will be able to join the building’s Super Bowl party.

Coffee table was full. They are (well, were) in a foam clamshell, inside a plastic bag, but on the floor because my table is both miniscule and cluttered.

Monkey wouldn’t mess with 'em.

Oh, man, you must absolutely hate hockey, then.

Doubt he’ll change his behavior, so it’ll be easier to restrict her access instead.

Get a hamper with a LID.

Problem solved … ?

This is awesome. I wish you could be there to witness their reaction upon finding it.

(Where ya gonna put it? I promise, I won’t tell.)

LOL

Aw, jeebus.

I’ve let my howling supervisor go outside, and am snuggled back in bed before facing the day … nope, nevermind, he just came back in.

How does that even happen? If I owe a business money, I am in debt to them. Where’s the fraud part?

(Just idly curious. Don’t spend any more time on my Qs than you want.)

In the “things are improving” category, I took a BIIIIIG gulp of water 1st thing this morning, before remembering that such an action caused great pain the last coupla days … and it was fine!

Much more water-chugging ensued. Such relief. I’ve still felt low-key dehydrated lately, but now that I am not restricted to dainty little sips, I can remedy that!

Hadn’t thought about it. I suppose some debtors could obtain their credit fraudulently.

I have a periodontist appointment on Wednesday, which isn’t too soon. I have a gum infection behind my 20+ year old implant. Lots of blood when I use the water pick. I think it’s time to have that implant removed. It’s been bugging me for about three years now.

If your tummy is unhappy and you feel the need to stay close to a bathroom, please do your building mates a favor and stay home. Norovirus and rotavirus is phenomenally contagious, especially in groups. Don’t risk it for the sake of chips and queso. Hopefully you have a way to watch the game at home.

Watch curling, there’s very little of it. Plus it’s so glacially slow you can take naps and not miss anything.

Well, it IS on ice.

Afternoon all. Been well-fed at Longhorn Steakhouse and browsed a few stores and am now back home. The 'ought-to’s are debating the ‘don-wannas’ about going to the gym today, I think this time the don-wannas are going to win the debate, along with a little nappage; hey, sometimes you have to take your sloth seriously… Plus it’s 48F outside, so a bit chilly.

red, bet Penny will be sad to leave.

wet one, enjoy the barn and your visit with Ariel. And can understand your family frustration, but they is only so much you can do. All the best.

Oopsie, sorry you can’t get to BFF’s house; guess you’ll have to stash the ornament for a little longer.

FCM, BBBoo, hope the kids are feeling better soon and you two don’t get to feeling worse…

rocky, hope the tummy settles down.

And onward into the afternoon.

@JaneDoe42

You asked where Ralphie was when I took the quilt picture; He has found his current perfect happy place and spends a lot of time there:

Awwwww…

50-ish years ago, I went to a couple of hockey games with coworkers. Never did understand the game. Still don’t.

The only sport that I watch and understand is baseball, and even that I don’t watch often. Just not into sports in general.

Well, it’s happened again - our VISA has been compromised. No clue when or how, but some scum-sucking bottom-feeder tried to order about $150 of stuff from Amazon on us. I even checked with Daughter on the off chance she accidentally clicked on our Visa since we shared a Prime account for a while. Nope, not her. And I checked my Amazon orders just in case, but there’s nothing there.

I called the fraud line right away and once the card was canceled, he told me I’d have to call the credit union to get my new one expedited. So I called and was told that since the order is already in for a new card, they can’t expedite. Dammit. So it could be 10 days before we get a replacement. Dammit. I’ve got 3 bills that may come due in that time, so I put my debit card in to pay them, and when I get the new card, I’ll have to update a LOT of accounts, including Holland America (for our cruise) and the hotel at Heathrow, because they said you have to check in with the card that holds the reservation. Dammit.

So much for a relaxing afternoon.

At least our CU has an option for purchase alerts to be sent to your phone. I have ours set up so that any charge over $20 or done on line will trigger a text. That’s how I found out the instant the thief tried to use our card. Guess they’re not getting their Jungle order after all! Asshole.

OK, < deep cleansing breath > - back to my recliner.

Cats and beds, right? Ours has taken to burrowing deep under several layers of blankets. The first time she did it, we couldn’t find her for the longest time. Then the wife spotted a suspicious lump that meowed when it was pushed.

I’m watching the Puppy Bowl also. They’re so adorable :dog2:
I’m particularly liking Bonnie, an Australian Cattle dog/Beagle.

Secret Agent Oopsie let us know where you hide the hideous clown ornament. I think this is a hoot.
ETA: sorry it didn’t work out to go today. Hopefully WifeBFF will feel up to a visit in a few weeks.

Excellent advice! The Appalachian Trial thru hikers or LASHers (long ass section hikers) generally get that every season shortly after getting out of the Smokies.
Additionally, if you feel like you have a virus or bacterial infection, particularly if you are sneezing and coughing, please stay home and wear a mask if you really need to go out.

Corewell Health, the behemoth health group that is buying a lot of hospital groups in the Mitten, says that FLU is very pervasive right now, that the waits to be seen are 2-4 hrs. So, Hubs did not go to mass this morning to not chance getting any germs. I went to 8am mass and with the cold and perhaps others being cautious, there were very few people in attendance. Of course, I was wearing 2 masks. I obtained Holy Communion for him. I’m glad I went to the retraining a week and a half ago or they wouldn’t have allowed me to bring it home to him.

My BF came over and brought 2 dozen eggs from her chickens. I made breakfast tacos with scrambled eggs, bacon, pulled pork, sauteed onions and yellow & orange bell peppers, avocado slices, tomato slices and shredded cheddar cheese (sharp for friend and I, mild for Hubs). Had a nice chat and watched some of the Willie and friends special.

Daughter and friend and Bella were supposed to come over for lunch which was going to be pulled pork sandwiches but alas she came down with a terrible sinus headache so she just wanted to go home and lay down after church since her head was pounding so bad. I feel bad for her. I haz a sad that I didn’t get to walk Bella today.

After my friend left, Hubs and I shaped then baked the pecan chocolate chippers that we made the dough for a few days ago. YUM!

WHAT???!!! No, just no. Former Ohio guy, you’ve been in 'Bama too long if you think 48* is chilly. Low 20’s here, that’s chilly, although I was plenty warm going to church as I wore my fur coat. When Lord & Taylor was going out of business, the coat was 75% off. I used money that I had saved up from a number of years, probably about 12, of birthday and Christmas envelopes from Mom & Dad. Luckily, none of the seniors, who attend mass at the same time I do, bring paint.

Church was good.
Some woman gave me some ointment for my back, and I left it either in church or the couples van that brought me home.

Okay, I am in Topeka, not all that far from Kansas City, Missouri. Before church this morning our pastor said something funny. “You’d think it was Pentecost today, with all the people wearing red.” And indeed a lot of folks had KC shirts on. At least we all knew the Chiefs are a Missouri team, unlike the Orange Foolius, who congratulated Kansas on having a winning team.

It’s hard to understand that some people don’t know there are two states having a Kansas City. In part of that urban area the states are seperated by a river but there are also areas where you can just cross the street and be in the other state and city.
