(Old) Thank God It's Frood Day - A Hoopy MMP

Good morning all. Up a little after 6am, have broken fast and the garbage bin is at the curb, and I am ready to face the day…which doesn’t have much activity planned. I do referee a soccer game at 7pm and probably will put in some gym time, but nothing much else on the agenda. 74F outside and heading to the mid-80’s with a 40% chance of rain tonight…may be a damp Memorial Day weekend.

JtC, things that you put effort into like that plant just…disappearing…is the hardest thing about moving. And hope Hubs gets over his Tucker-induced depression.

Sticky Buns, glad the phone interview went well, will keep fingers crossed for some good news.

Pilot, glad your place is shaping up nicely. And nice to hear I am not the only absent-minded person in the western Hemisphere. At least you have your tickets well in advance.

Coppertone, hope the interview goes according to schedule this time.

Well, need to finish the morning internettin’ and then see what there is to be done. All y’all take care now.

Back from Food Lion - I scored a nice London Broil and a package of 85% ground beef on the used meat pile! The broil has be cut into 2 hunks for future meals and the ground beef divided into 2 packs for whatever some day.

FCD has taken his mom to Social Security to arrange to have her monthly payment sent to the new account. He’ll be closing her PNC account once everything is transferred. Because PNC sux!!

And it’s raining. And so goes the day.

Speaking of interviews, MusicMan is being interviewed as we speak for a job that I think would be a great fit for him. I came along for the ride and am sitting in the car waiting to hear. So, everyone, fingers crossed for him!

In a little while I have to drive my mom to see a new doctor up north. Oh, and we have to get some bagels, too!

Am I the only one who always reads that as Food Loin?

[NB: We don’t have them out here. Also: I used to call Alpha Beta ‘Master Beta’.]

Heaving was long and drawn out, but without incident. Which is a nice change. Spot is wailing and gnashing his teeth because I stopped giving him bits of banana after he stopped eating them. Cats are weird.

< Sad Jabba The Hutt noises >
But my coffee maker screeches at me if I forget the water. But the bean grinder is separate.

< crosses appropriate and inappropriate appendages >

Well, I do now!

I’m sure I’ve done that e.v.e.r.y. s.i.n.g.l.e. time in my last 50 years of Mr. Coffee and Keurig. I get twitchy and edgy and then over eager when I don’t know where my next cuppa :coffee:is coming from. I’m also renowned for not putting the grounds in the filter holder and brewing myself a big fragrant cup of……hot water.

Love this term~sadly, I doubt I’ll be able to remember it., but then that’s Mumpers are good for, helping me remember the good lines y’all come up with.

totally agree on pnc, my bank was bought from them and i closed that account within a few years. their fees are insane, and customer service is not good.

my office uses them. doing anything other than a simple deposit is crazy.

The only reason the inlaws used PNC was because it bought their bank and I guess it never occurred to them to go elsewhere. But we’re taking care of that. Nothing beats a good credit union!

oh, yeah, credit unions are the best.

Turns out I spoke too soon about not having another workout until Saturday: this morning my personal trainer asked if we could move that session to this evening. I said sure. I could use some things from the grocery store (which I tend to only go to if I’m already out and about), plus I kind of like the idea of truly having an entire weekend off.

I also got a text from my voice teacher this morning, cancelling this afternoon’s lesson because one of her kids is home with pink eye. I have lessons every other Thursday: we might make today’s up next week, or we might just skip it entirely. She’ll let me know after the ocular scourge in her household abates.

Last night I went to use my volunteer org’s Zoom account for my committee meeting, and got a message that it was already in use: turns out another committee scheduled a meeting right on top of it – and set up overlapping recurring meetings! No one from Communications caught it. Grrr. Every committee has a Comms POC as a member: when mine found out/told me what had happened, she asked whether I wanted to contact the other chair or have Comms straighten it out. I opted for the latter. I didn’t create the situation: someone else needs to tell the other committee that they can’t use the branch account on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 7pm. I had to start a personal Zoom and send the link out to my team, and the meeting wound up not starting until about 7:20pm. Luckily, the agenda was short. I was pretty annoyed, though, that (a) no one from Comms noticed the conflict and (b) *I* wound up being the one who had to scramble. We’ve had the same meeting schedule for 1.5 years! Lately, it’s like every time I turn around I’m being dissed by someone else in the branch (including something the president did just three days ago). On top of already feeling like I spend too much time doing the best job I can. All of which makes me extremely happy to type the following:

I’ve found someone to take over the committee in July!! :tada:

At the end of last night’s meeting, I asked one of the guys if he could hang on: he attends meetings, comes to events, and has good ideas. I confided my plans to leave, and asked if he might interested in taking over as chair. He said yes – and he seems to geniunely be up for it! He’s retired and in good shape, so he has the time and energy, and he has room in his garage for the events stuff (heh). So now I’ll be adding this transition to the list of things happening in June, but I’m sooooo relieved…and, two months from now I’ll be even more so.

Just three more hours until I head to the gym, then swing by the grocery store, then start my 4-day weekend! I’m actually looking forward to going to the language museum in DC with my dad tomorrow. We’ll each be taking Metro, and luckily the weather should be good: mostly sunny with a high in the low 80s, and no rain in the forecast. :crossed_fingers:

Indeed! I’ve been a member of the same credit union since high school – my parents were members (Dad still is) – and I’ve never had a reason to leave. They only have branches in Maryland, but I moved to Virginia in '98 and can count on one hand the number of times since then that I’ve had to go to a branch in person. I temporarily joined a local credit union once that was affiliated with a past employer, because I was in the market for a car loan and they had lower rates than my main CU, but I only used them for that one loan. Other than that and having a CD with Ally Bank for a few years, I’ve never gone anywhere else.

We’ve had our credit union account in Jacksonville FL since 1983 - it was FCD’s account for about 3 months before we got married and made it joint. There’s no need for us to go to a branch - everything can be done on line - their chat function is really great. And we can use the ATMs at WaWa without charge to get cash if we need to.

Yay, Credit Union!!!

Lazy day here. I’ve been reading and pretty much nothing else.

It was a good interview. She wants me, but, as seems to be my fate, she wants to give me 2 days a week. So I would make 100 a week.
I also got a free cone!:icecream:

And a good afternoon all. Have made it to the gym and done some exercising, but managed to lose my padlock key (again) and had to have the gym folks bring out the heavy shears and cut my lock off (third time, need to get a combination lock rather than a keyed one). In about 2 hours I’ll need to get dressed for refereeing, there is a 15% chance of rain so we’ll see what happens.

Sticky Buns, hope the interview went well for MusicMan.

FCM, I have a credit card from PNC, so far it has not been an issue and they have done pretty well on alerting me if there is any funny business with the charges. But no accounts there and will be happy to keep it that way. Most of my (regular) savings is in a Credit Union and my checking and a small saving account is with another bank.

Not my Circus; not my Monkeys–keep the responsibility with those who should have it.

But that is good news that you found a replacement; now if he doesn’t get disillusioned by July…

Coppertone, looks like you may want to see if another place can give you 2-3 days of work or has she promised that your hours could increase over time?

Need to get a couple things done then decide if I want to eat before (about 5:30pm) or after (about 9:00pm) soccer refereeing. Decisons, decisions…

Howdy Y’all! Quality cee-mint pond time, nappage, and day drinkin’ were accomplished. I foresee this to be a regular Summer thang. OK, it pretty much always is the Summer thang for us, so I don’t so much foresee as look back to the past Summers around the cee-mint pond. JDD and Partner are comin’ over to hang on Sattidy. We shall be silly and grill burgers. Majik intartoobz pizza and sallit have been et up. Netflix and chill next up!

Sticky_Buns appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed for MusicMan.

Ms. Dog departed last night. She was good as gold yesterday and didn’t even respond in kind when another dog lunged and snapped at her. She’s an interesting and endearing dog, and I’ll miss her, but she’s with me often enough that my DIL calls her “the time share dog.”

Happy Birthday to the hippest of hippies, Hippy!

Ha. No. It was “double misnomers.” Do you have a twin?

I’m trying to figure out the weird reason the person discovered thisr. Maybe pink marker on a paper towel is a clue.

I’m guessing there were a lot of photos on their walls. A pound is a lot of burger, but I bet some of my insatiable students could’ve done it.

I don’t think Tucker deigns to go into the wild. If you saw him there, it’d probably be because someone else beat you to it.

My fingers are crossed for you and MusicMan, sticky!

That’s very good news, indeed! Only a week or so to go! I think mine came through in 5 months. It boggles my mind that some states take more than twice that long.

OK, I must ask this for my sister. How do you prepare yours? She got London Broil on sale the other day but has no clue how to fix it. I’ve never had it. Well, OK, when I was a Candy Striper, I had some at the hospital cafeteria, and it was grey, tough, and tasteless. My sister is not much of a cook, but she can follow a recipe. Do you marinate yours?

Caffeine-free, fat-free, sugar-free, non-GMO, and locally sourced!

So not just me then? I got a small padlock and put it and its key on my keychain. I haven’t had an issue since.

Not if they were syruptitious!

:+1:t2::+1:t2::+1:t2::+1:t2:

And the thread :trophy: for this one. The Games page at the NYTimes has nothing on you!

Appendages crossed.

Irked, came home right after a big rain to nothing on the news that isn’t weather related. Oh, well.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

nellie - it’s been a while since I made a London broil, but I think I marinated it then broiled it - go figure! When I make it next time, I’ll probably Google a recipe.

OMG - MIL has been going on and on about everyone in her family who had cancer. I know she’s lonely, but I want to tell her to shut up. Especially since I don’t know half of who she’s talking about.

Speaking of whom - we’ll be taking her to Indy next Firday for 3 weeks. The drive will suck but the reprieve will be nice.

Boy, I’m in a bitchy mood tonight… sorry.

You’re allowed to be bitchy. We love you.

Actually, I decided to be proactive and call the place where the man couldn’t talk to me when I turned my application in.
He said they were short on managers this week. Said he’d call me early next week.
I said, So I have a chance then?
He said, Yes, absolutely.
