(Old, thankfully.) Just call it pee-pee ‘cause it’s all your’n MMP

I have not yet left for the gym. I remembered I needed to get train tickets to Seattle. I’m house-sitting for son and DIL while they’re on vacation. They’re taking doggos with them. :frowning: I’m not used to housesitting without a pupper or three to walk, feed, and scritch, so this’ll take some adjusting. I have to come back midway for shots and dr. appointment, then will return 24 hours later, so that’s two round-trip tickets. I texted son about times, and he called me, so bonus chat.

cookie, that’s weird about the stitches not dissolving. You got some rebel thread! Glad to learn it should resolve soon.

flyboy, otters are cool, and even cooler when they’re right under your deck/catio!

That’s AWFUL! When my mom had us four kids, the average stay was 14 days. When I had my son in the early 80s, it was 7 days. With my daughter in 1991, it was 4-5 days. 2-4 is stupid. Why in the world did they remove your staples before the incision was fully closed? I remember my doc took them out at 7 days. I think the standard is 5-7.

So when I decided to pop for a new dining room table, I found one I liked at Macy’s online, but it was $$$$. So I looked at WalMart online, and I found the exact same table by the same mfr. for 40% less.I love it. Might be worth a shot?

Your poor son and that poor cab driver! Glad he got home safe and sound.

Bracing for Ophelia - lots of rain and winds up to 60 MPH. **FCD ** plans to futz in his shop tomorrow. I’m gonna crochet. Looking forward to a mostly chill day, unless a tree falls in the house or something…

Exciting, no?

May you have the least exciting Tropical Storm possible.

I concur. When I needed a smaller kitchen table to fit this kitchen, I first checked Ashley and local furniture stores with my specs (I needed something 28-30" round or square to fit). They either had nothing or offered to order one online for me. Doh! I can order online, so I did. From a price of ~$450 ordering (online) from the furniture store down to $129 from da Jungle. The one from da Jungle suits my needs.

Another day spent porchinating, the weather was perfect but then the clouds rolled in and it got cool enough that I put on a sweater.

At one point, I heard screaming from our bathroom and found hubs and GG “enjoying” a bath together. The water was cooling down and hubs needed me to fish our idiot cat out of the tub so hubs could get out with intact skin. I towel dried GG and put him in the catio with VBC, then went in to rinse the cat hair out of the tub while hubs showered. I’m really happy I wasn’t rinsing blood out as well, hubs has paper skin and it is even softer after it gets wet. GG isn’t a bad kitty, but he tries to hold on with his feets and even just the dull tips of his claws are enough to draw blood. (Heck, the poor man rips skin by brushing against the wall.)

The yard flock are loving their new fuds which is pretty amazing considering it is less expensive.

I ordered a floor stand fan because the skeeters came out at dusk, which is when I love to sit out and watch the sky turn colors. It arrived yesterday and I’m pretty happy with it, plus it serves the purpose and I don’t have to put Deet on my skin anymore.

Pilot, you mentioned skeeters upthread, how high do those nasty lil blood suckers fly? I guess I’d always assumed they didn’t get but 20 ft up or so because that’s where I see the bats dance. Of course, I have seriously bad eyes so who knows how high the bats fly?

Taps toe and checks watch yet again. OK, that was a lie, I don’t wear watches anymore I look at my phone.

I hope you get to meet him soon, I’ll bet the two of you will hit it off right away. Not so sure about Spot, but as long as he doesn’t try to eat Harvey’s face, it should be work out.

I’m glad you guys are feeling better and thanks for getting the jab, you are doing a good thing for the herd.

Does Merryland have public fiduciaries? Here’s a snip about them…

What is the role of a public fiduciary in Arizona?

The Public Fiduciary’s Office serves as the guardian and/or conservator for vulnerable adults after it is determined through a court process that the person is unable to make decisions due to incapacity. As the guardian, the office makes decisions for the person’s placement and medical care.

I became familiar with them when I worked for the County and was amazed at the services they offered to keep people like your BIL safe and homed.

I wasn’t actually expecting you to hear anything back, I was just offering up some hope of a good ending for a hard luck kitty.

You are a good person who did a good and kind thing, thank you.

I’m hoping to get them all at once because I’m a rip the bandage off sort of person. If I gots to do it, lets just do and get it over with. I’m way too lazy to make three trips into town when just one will do and my shot givers have never hesitated to stick needles in me.

I’m so sorry about the pink eye but she does hang around where kids hang out and everyone knows they are disease ridden plague monkeys. I also hang out in Libraries, hence me getting RSV and whooping cough.

He’s a good man, and I wasn’t that mad at him. I’m still not going to go out and sort his sockets, I want him to think about me often

Having a Royal Hawaiin, perch, and some wild rice blend for dinner. Watching some college football.

Well, Harvey’s foster mom is adopting him. I have a sad(but happy for Harvey).

I’m sorry about your SiL’s Mom, Bumba.

Glad you had a good time, Oopsie, and < fingers crossed > for Bailey.

Evening all. Swimming and sauna were accomplished, I watched some soccer (one of the 12U teams reported a kid assaulting his teammates, so (as the duly-appointed Safety Director) I went out to watch their next practice…turned out another guy whose been around the region for years had the same mission, he did most of the counseling while I just sat there. Kid is not a bully or someone being picked on, he simply has very little (read: none) self-discipline/control and does what he thinks he should do…which occasionally is kicking or pushing other kids in his way. When his Mom yelled at him he yelled back at her. But he also is a pretty good soccer player and is under control 95% of the time…it’s just the other 5% that’s a problem. I let the other guy talk with him (hey, he’s got 4 kids so much more experience) and we’ll see if it helps. Came home and had my Big Bowl O’Sallit for dinner. Will turn in early since I start by refereeing a game at 8:30am, then coach at 11:00am and 1:00pm and (maybe) referee again at 3:00pm if I feel up to it. Weather is supposed to remain nice, clear with a high of 85F, so we’ll see.

Pilot, nellie, I guess I could say “what filter?”, but then I would look like an idiot. Well, idiot did look it up and will be removing/cleaning it tonight (soon as I find a pair of noseplugs). Thanks for the vinegar idea, I’ll go with the commercial stuff first and if that doesn’t help I’ll do the home remedy.

FCM, glad things are getting straightened out for BIL. Hang in there and hope the weather reports don’t get too serious.

Bumba, sad news, but 101 is one heck of a run.

Cookie, hope your suture problem is now in the past.

Sari, drunks are a PITA for everyone. But glad the move is going slow but steady.

Oopsie, a brownie sundae has got me drooling like one of Pavlov’s dogs…And hope Bailey is doing better this weekend.

Flyboy, those otters must be otterly delightful…

rocky, take care and hope you get a lot of reading and watching in.

nellie, is son picking up the Amtrak costs? Seems he should for your house-sitting duties.

JtC, glad both Hubs and GG survived the bath.

doggio, sorry Harvey won’t be coming home with you, but he should be a happy pooch; wasn’t there another dog you were considering?

Bloody Hell (as the Brits say), keeping up with all of you can be a full-time job. Take care and I’ll catch you sometime tomorrow.

Well, Colby is now on diuretics, and has to pee every 3 hours or so. So that won’t work.

Best wishes for those weathering the storm!

Sandy, the elderly yellow lab, had to be put down last week. Her elderly owner, who is taking it hard, now has a kitty named Tommy.

Sorry for running off before hitting all the high notes, much excitement happened across the street. Apparently the boy accidently dialed 911 and then got scared when the operator answered and hung the phone up. He did tell his folks so they were calling 911 back when the County Sheriff showed up. Next came the highway patrol and then the state police. GG was ecstatic over all the colored lights running all over the walls.

Sounds lovely, I hope you have a great time.

I am so sorry. I hope she had a happy life and that her passing will be peaceful.

Just like almost everyone! I can tell that he’s a good son and man just by what you tell us, you should be proud to have raised him so well!

I am also happy/sad about the news. However, sadly we both know that there are plenty of older homeless dogs out there so hopefully you will find the right one soon.

My current balcony is about 90 feet straight up from the ground. We have a few skeeters at dawn and dusk. Many fewer than down at ground level. But not zero. I bet if fewer of my neighbors had potted mini-jungles growing on their balconies we’d have even less. I used to live on the 16th floor in St. Louis, so 160-180 feet up. Zero skeeters up there despite hordes at ground level.

My doc suggested no more than one shot per day. You do you, but I wouldn’t.

Part of the mechanism of a vaccine is that it triggers your immune system to go into instant overdrive creating long-term “memory” cells and antibodies to be primed to attack when the real disease shows up later. Your system only has so much capacity for manufacturing that preparation. Multiple vax at once might overtax that system and you end up with all the annoyance of two jabs, but only half-assed protection from each.

I intend to recover from any swampy-style blahs before doing the next. Some shots affect me zero, others lead to a blah evening and a lazy day the next day-ish. We shall see. So about one every 4 days worst case and one every day best case.

One thing’s for sure. Living rural adds a lot of overhead to any decision about interacting with civilization for anything. Those factors simply don’t exist in my high-density world. I have 2 pharmacies within easy walking distance and three more I’d be willing to walk to if it was important. The far one of the five is just over 2 miles.

Thank you. She is vastly better today; the meds really knocked it down instantly over the course of yesterday and overnight. She still has a few days’ meds to take. We’re not done with it yet.

Tomorrow we will have Daughter and her Horde attending a community carnival near here. So we’ll meet them all there, and perhaps bring them up here to our place too. Holy incoming sniffles Batman!

Sadly, that describes the behavior of about half the guys in prison. Hope the kid can get re-educated about self-control. A talking-to at soccer one day sure isn’t the scale of intervention it will take if he’s got it bad already. I’m not trying to write the kid off as hopeless, but I hope someone responsible is looking carefully because his last practical off-ramp, if indeed that is his present trajectory, is coming up very soon.

As to me:
Had a short pool session in the afternoon after a long lunch, miniature groccing, and a bit of mostly pointless driving around. Her Ladyship finished librarifying and we had the leftovers of last night’s BBQ sammiches for dinner. Plus a fine Gimlet for me. Her Ladyship never mixes booze and meds as a matter of principle. She is a person of many Principles.

Bed soon, for tomorrow is another busy day off. Happy wild and crazy Friday night to all!!

I’m sorry to read this. I’m sure that sandy was a very good dog.

I hope tommy brings comfort and entertainment.

Well, that just makes too much fucking sense and now I’m super grumbly. You are right about the transport issue, despite having nothing else to do, I’m going to resent making that two hour round trip for each shot.

Thanks a whole bunch!!!

I’m glad to hear it. I haven’t had it for years, but I can remember back when I did and how embarrassing it was.

Awwww.

I smashed the tip of my middle finger in a door at work today, and spent the night making pizzas while looking like I was flipping everyone off.

Ow.

She was. :frowning:

Up, caffinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. Opehila is hitting, so I assume the Air will be delayed. Again.

:frowning: Feel better. Can you ice it abit between pies?

Morning, mumper! Drive-by posting today because it’s a busy one! It’s currently 11c/51f with a predicted high of 15c/59f, and partly cloudy. Weather app tells me that I should " Enjoy today. Tomorrow could very well fucking suck ass." OK, duly noted!

I’m up and gym-sheveled, cats have been fed and watered, litter trays are clean and I’m about to head out to the gym. Back later for a shower and tidy-up, then possibly having a friend arrive (not sure of her plans yet) to leave her car here for the weekend, and then off into town for lunch at the Good Chinese Place.

Friend and her partner are arriving here from different directions, and spending the weekend in an airbnb not far from us. There’s only room for one car at the airbnb, so we offered her space on our drive. If I park mine close to the house, we can squeeze her car in behind. We’re all at a music festival for the weekend so we know we won’t be driving anywhere until they need to go home sometime on Monday. Thus cars can be safely stashed for two days, and she can come and get hers whenever she needs to.

Right…time to get partly-fit before the weekend destruction starts!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 57 (BRR!) Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 88 and N.O.S. for the day. TWPTB say that will be a near high record for the day. Today will be a for real day of high sloth and general overall uselessness. Nappage, watchin’ kolledge tackleball, day drinkin’, and possibly other non-activities are on the agenda. I do have to read over the sermon I picked out to read tomorrow several times, so’s I can act like I know what I’m doin’. I suppose that counts as some kinda productivity. Any need to feed today will be via forage as we have plenty of sammich makin’s, chips, etc.

Continue to stay safe all y’all in the path of the storm.

doggio sorry about Harvey, but it seems he’s in a good place, so there’s that.

shoe hope the owie is better today.

BooFae you are a good person to let your friend park her car at your place. Have fun at the music festival!

JtC, like Pilot I have been told by my PCP that it’s best to space shots out over a few days/weeks (he said weeks is best). I did get a pneumonia and flu vaccine at the same time once. I felt ick for about three days afterward, so will never do more than one at a time again.

flyboy sad about Sandy! I know her owner is grievin’, but glad she has a cat to keep her company.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Saturday Y’all!
