(Old) The Apocalyptic MMP

Growing up, our TV stations were out of South Bend, so guess what was televised for all sports? To be fair, that was mostly on WNDU, which was owned by the university at the time.

I'm glad that the cortisone shots are helping **cookie**.

The grey ghost is home! It felt good to drive her again, heated seats and all.

I woke up around one o’clock this morning (an hour before usual) and couldn’t get back to sleep, so I took a nap when I got home.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

We missed you again! We left this morning and got home a little while ago. You got a tiny little bit of rain last night and it was cold and clear this morning. I hope all was good when you got home.

NF is very outgoing and makes friends everywhere she goes. One of her friends had a camera with filters and shared some of his pics. This is my fav:

As long as I have your attention, is it normal for folks in your neck of the woods to put their electrical outlets out of reach of normal sized folks?

Imgur

Yeah…I did that once and didn’t like it at all. The part where we rolled across a field and ended up upside down was my least favorite part. Well, that and the part that I forgot to get my weed before the car was towed. I wasn’t stoned when I had the accident but I really wanted to be afterwards.

Moving sucks. You have my sympathy.

So anyways. I am home now. It was an easy drive with not nearly as much traffic as we hit going to Dallas.

Dallas freeways are horrible! It has toll roads that require transponders, left side exits, no exit numbers or mile markers and A, B, C, D’s added to the random numbers they did use along with paragraph long street names.

I was not a fan.

Hubs spent the entire time I was gone looking at homes and is planning to go back to WV on Saturday. (I will not be going, I need to deal with things around here. While there are some things I don’t trust his judgement on, I do trust him to find an acceptable place for both of us.)

Well, that and taking GG to the vet for a check-up. Hubs wants to get sedatives for GG on the drive when we move. George is a horrible traveler, the panting and drooling starts after he’s yelled his voice out, he will need some chemical aid for the trip.*

I understand the vet visit was filled with much GG admiration because it took 6 vet techs to weigh him…and that took a bit of time because they all had to fuss over him and of course he wasn’t going to sit quietly while being admired, he was going to walk under hands with his tail up or give them his belly. There was also a hands-on consult with another vet as to which sedative would be best for him. Hubs said that consult mostly involved ear and cheek rubs, but there were a few belly rubs too.

I’m slowly unpacking, things are getting done and laundry is sloshing. When I got home, the first thing I saw was fucking weeds all over the place and dead plants in the front beds. OK, well the weeds happened because it rained so much and this is the desert. Water makes everything grow really fast.

The dead perennials in the front beds had taken off because of the rain, but once they got started…something happened and they didn’t get water. They will probably come back when they start getting water again and hubs is out dealing with the drippers as I type, but that is so him. He doesn’t look at plants and trees and shrubs because he doesn’t care about them, so of course he didn’t notice until I pointed it out.

*We did briefly consider one of us flying with him, but he won’t fit under a seat so unless we buy him his own ticket, he will have to travel in the baggage hold. While we are willing to consider buying him his own ticket, we also know that pets and valuable musical instruments have been banished to the cargo hold when planes have been overbooked and our cats don’t ride in cargo holds. Cat. Fuck, I miss her so much.

And a good late afternoon/early evening to all. Still dripping rain outside, nothing severe (that’s for tomorrow morning) and got a lot of swimming time in as a result, 1.5 miles although I had to do it in 3 shifts, with whirlpool time in-between. Will get a cheeseburger started here in a bit, otherwise it should be a quiet evening of internettin’ and readin’.

flyboy, maybe not understanding everything, but sounds like the Executive is not the brightest bulb in the building. And a well-written notice on the Treasurer.

Cat Glove, guess changes were made since you last visited work. At least you didn’t get arrested…

Tenor (that’s what I calling fachverwirrt for the time being), I sympathize on the real estate hassle. I’ll have to go through it in around 3-4 years or so according to my plans and I’m already dreading it.

red, hooray on having your car back!

JtC, never lost it that badly (well, there was some problems with snow and ice, but not rain) but have had that 2-3 seconds when I knew that I had no control of where the car was going next–not fun. And no idea why anyone would have an outlet there. And a lot of city freeways use the A,B,C exit thing, just to keep you on your toes…Glad GG is doing well and making friends.

OK, need to consider grilling some beef with cheese and fixings on a Sesame seed roll. Take care all.

I’m completely stumped on that outlet. @Bob_Blaylock , can we get an expert opinion here?

If you look down, under the two prints, there is a cover that appears to go over a hole where the outlet used to be…

She’s very good at sales. But she drives me up the wall sometimes.

ETA: The corner market didn’t have any vegetables for side dishes. Not even asparagus, apparently. So I’m making creamed spinach with feta. That’s what I wanted to make with the steaks we’ll have this weekend. But I’m only using half a bag of spinach, so I still can.

When I moved to Tennessee, the move involved my sweet Domino kitty, who got carsick if I drove him 3 blocks to the vet (I solved that by putting his carrier in a Radio Flyer and walking down). Sedatives were the thing for the move.

:people_hugging:

{{{JtC}}} I still miss my Cinnamon, and it’s been 2 years.

My guess is that someone once had a neon light or other sort of electrical decoration hanging on that wall, which makes that a better spot for the outlet than having to run the cord up from near the floor.

Hugs to you too VanGo. I know you miss your buddy.

SWMBO wants to share a baked potato.

Her visually-impaired patient is playing at that hole-in-the-wall beer bar Friday. I think we’re going, but I don’t know where we’ll have dinner. She doesn’t want to do the casino again. (Good, but she ate too much.)

Plug-in overhead light. I had one in my bedroom as a kid.

I don’t have much of an appetite lately. I can usually eat all day long but I get full on not much. Had 2 smoothies and a can of mini raviolis.
Maybe my body needs to lose a few pounds, short term fasting can be good.
Its raining here and is supposed to til tomorrow night.
Blah.

Did it hang from a chain?

Yeah, but…this was taken at the hotel we stayed at last night. Holiday Inn Express to be specific.

Hugs to all of us pet lovers. We all know how bad losing one is.

I’m going to go outside and look at Grumpy Old Cat’s trees. They are starting to leaf out now but I still look for him when I have salmon.

My guess is outlet for a wall clock.

MIL had a bad night and a bad day. FCD is having a hard time dealing it. He was at his dad’s bedside when he died, and now he’s having to watch his mother fade. The worst part for him is that he can’t fix it.

I know for sure I would never have made it as a nurse - it’s too draining. And I know why a childhood friend had to quit working on the cancer ward - being so close to death all the time takes a toll.

On the plus side, my painting went well. Second coat tomorrow. So I have that to look forward to.

Could be for a plug-in clock if it’s not too high. My childhood bedroom (as well as my sister’s) had an outlet near the ceiling controlled by a light switch. The cord extended from the outlet to a cup hook on a beam, with a bulb and very light shade hanging down.

I was down in the dumps today(the wake County Landfill, to be specific). I heaved out old electronics. I got some towels and a new stand for the forever Xmas tree, since the previous stand was less stable than Gordie in front of an electric golf cart. I also replaced a pair of blinds that had gotten torn up. I napped, and now I’m kayayking:

(mug stolen from a defunct downtown brewpub in the 20th Century).
Dinner was chicken and cavatappi with bacon rosemary spinach.

“We shot ourselves in the foot, then amputated the leg to stop the bleeding”

That was an understatement.

That’s weird, unless they flood regularly.

Evening all. Garbage has been collected and is at the curbside for tomorrow and cheeseburger has been eaten, so my work is done. Will run the dishwasher tomorrow and leave the water on, will see if there is still some usage that I can;t account for (just because I’m paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t out to get me…). Still in the 60’s here, but all the rain has cooled stuff down. On the good side my lawn is growing greener with all the moisture it’s getting, so mowage last Sunday was a good thing. Might be another tunder-boomer in the week hours tomorrow, we’ll see if I can sleep through it.

FCM, yeah, I can understand you bringing MIL into your house, it has probably extended her life my months, but it’s going to be tough on FCD, especially when it gets to the hospice stage.

doggio, that beer looks good, and I’m not a frequent beer drinker. My mugs (24oz. size) came from Dollar Tree and aren’t quite that nice but they hold a lot of liquid.,…

OK, 9:30pm, need to do some puzzle-solving and newspaper reading before bedtime. All y’all take care.

What does your forever Christmas tree think of its new towels?
