(Old) The Joy of Brain Farts in the MMP

Brain fart? Not mine, but Saturday during my vacation, Unload brain farted and unloaded a bunch of outbound Air bags, Panamanian Vince brain farted and stacked them mixed with the Raleigh Monday Air, and the Head of Preload and the one PT sup brain farted and threw the Raleigh bags down the slide, so we had th drag them over, and throw them back on Yellow bet. Which was switched off. After the sort, they were short loaders, so they had me load the whole Middle Red set on 200 North. Witch had 3-4 big bulk stops. And I was starting 2 hours later than the other loaders. Quote from Orange Tim: “Who’d you piss off to get stuck with this?” Also, there was a marking crayon on one of the shelves that had melted onto one of the package shelves. :grimacing: My work station is awful, but our crayons don’t melt.

Ouch! Just glad you didn’t drive it.

Yay!

Diesel hoses are bigger diameter, so in theory, you can’t put 12 gallons of diesel in your gas Benz.

I’ll allow it.

By any standard, judging by the grad photos. and good luck with the job interview.!

So say we all!

A night off from mansplaining and farting?

Yay for Zorro, Sunny!

Au contraire, mon freré!

Did you see your recipe I had in the last thread?

I can confirm this. When we went to Vegas for my baby sister’s wedding (I’m 14 yrs older than her; she’ll always be the baby), Hubs and I were in one room and middle sister and my daughter were in another room in Excalibur. Hubs and daughter left Sunday night so I moved into my sister room because we planned to go brunch at the Bellagio then see the Hoover Dam, Red Rocks, etc on Monday. Hubs noticed on Monday that he didn’t have his charger so called me to ask that I retrieve it. It had already been removed from the room so I went down to perhaps Housekeeping and they pulled out a whole box of chargers and let me pick out which one belonged to Hubs; I had no idea but picked out one that I thought might be his.

Well I have FCM and Swampy to thank for tonight’s dinner. You guys keep talking about pulled pork so I tried it back in March (I had never cooked a pork loin before) and it turned out ok. I had only made about 2/3 of the pork loin at that time. I made the other 1/3 today and it came out even better. The sweet potato was so silky, it had been baked perfectly. The baked beans were good. I also baked an apple as an accompaniment. Then I had blueberry crumb pie with vanilla ice cream for dessert and made Hubs a dish of vanilla ice cream with blueberries and strawberries.

Good night all. As red says: Stay safe and healthy

They missed you!

Loins are pretty lean, hubs always uses the rump for his pulled poke.

Tonight hubs grabbed the kitchen trash bag so he could take the big can to the curb. (well, we don’t have curbs, but you know…) The garbage goes out one Wednesdays just like it has for the last 5 years. Sigh.

Neither of my grandmothers, who both knit and crocheted, made these, but my husband’s grandmother did. I think the towels are in the same category as handkerchief with a crocheted corner (like this) and embroidered pillow cases (example).

I have a handkerchief which my great-grandmother made and my mother has embroidered pillow cases made by her grandmother.

That reminds me. I left my U.S. iPhone charger at a B&B last year (speaking of brain farts). Might need to get another one when we go to the U.S.

And it seems my brain has decided to take this week’s MMP title as a suggestion.

Yesterday, I announced to hubby that I was going to get the neighbor’s mail. So I pulled out the key from our door, and then tried to use that key to open neighbor’s mail box. Didn’t work, but at least hubby had already grabbed the neighbor’s key and handed it to me so I could do the task I planned to do.

This morning? As we are on vacation, this means I can have a cup of cofffee before the breakfast latte. The cup of coffee is made with a cone which rests on a saucer between uses. This morning I put a fresh filter in the cone, put the cone and saucer on the scale, and measured out the coffee grounds (20 g). Water was already boiling, so I poured some water in the cone. You know, the cone which is sitting on a saucer, and not over a mug.

At least I always pour just a little bit of water to wet the grounds before the main event. So there was no mess. Luckily.

Annoying work thing is still disturbing my sleep. I do hope this gets resolved soon, because it’s doing horrible things to my concentration.

After talking with a neighbor I understand what we need to do for the insurance company, and we got the car back from the shop, so it’s got its summer tires on, and a shiny new reverse light switch, which was required due to a recall. I guess recalls are due to very big brain farts, because someone made a design mistake.

Today’s excitement is going to a science museum. Because it’s going to rain all day. Minor flooding expected, but not at home.

Probably should finish my latte and get organized. This vacation stuff is hard work.

Up, caffeinated and sheveled. Off to heave.

Yep.

So I was giving Spot his bedtime skritches, and he chewed on my goatee again. So I gave him a play bite on his ear.
Me: “How’s that little man?”
Spot:
< twitches ear >
< shakes head >
< paws at ear >
" Ewwwwww. Monkey spit"

Pretty good sleep last night and I didn’t really wake till about 5:30! Huzzah!! It appears part of the trick if I wake stoopit early is to not think and let my brain go back to sleep.

They’re supposed to start our bottom paint today, which means the boat could be going back in the water tomorrow. Then the engine gets serviced, and we can take it home, after giving them lots of $$$.

Tobias and I will be running a couple of errands, and I’m sure FCD will be going to the boat yard. Daughter and her spawn will dine with us tonight, so sketty is on the menu. Rain is promised later today and overnight, plus much windy. (Can you tell I took a meteorology class in college??)

Our electric coop sent us a smart plug. I need to figure out how to link it to Alexa for MIL. Yep, exciting is my middle name.

Happy Tuesday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 89 and mostly cloudy for the day. I have a doc/vampire appt. this mornin’ at 9:45 and then a meetin’ of the search committee over to the church house from noon to one-thirty this afternoon. The Canon of The Ordinary (assistant to the Bishop) who works with parishes in search of a new Priest will be there to meet with us. After that I foresee nappage and general over uselessness for a while. Sup shall be chili/cheese/slaw/onion dawgs with oven fries. Fartfest to follow.

CupCakes I saw where you posted the cheesestraw recipe in the last MMP. This is a good basic recipe as one can play around with it to make it more or less spicy as one desires. It’s always been a never fail recipe for me which says a lot for someone like me who is prone to recipe disasters.

Cat_Glove as JtC said, poke shoulder makes the best pulled poke.

JtC it’s tough to notice that a loved one may be showin’ signs of dementia. I have a feelin’ that one day OYKW may start to worry about me as AD runs on both mom’s and dad’s sides of the family.

doggio see, you go on vacation and the place is shot to hell. You might never be able to take a vacation again!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I must needs purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Woe is me!

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Morning all. Seems I have adjusted to waking at 6am each day. Not my preferred time, mind you, just seems to be when the body and mind agree I need to be up. Nothing much on the schedule, another 85F day with 50% chance of afternoon rain, so may spend time at the gym sweating. As for other things, we’ll see how it goes.

You have a bunch of chickens named Edison? (hey, it’s the best I can do at 0630). Hope all goes as planned for the great boat watering.

Dicey, sounds like the garage did a good job on the car. Enjoy the museum.

JtC, the showers are individual, not communal, so I expect some other member got some free 3-in-1 (body, hair and face wash, they sez) showers thanks to me. Never checked the front desk.

OK, need to break fast and be about the day. Have a good 2sday all.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 14c/57f with no predicted change today, and partly cloudy. Weather is unimpressed and says “It’s partly cloudy. What’s the other part? Fucking shame!”

Cat Glove doesn’t everyone measure distance in hours? Whenever someone asks me how far it is from home to visiting family in Scotland, the answer is 4hrs

Cookie are you selling tickets to the management showdown?

doggio they obviously missed you while you were gone

Sunny good to hear from you again!! I hope new dog works out fine and they all become good friends

I have read but not retained much, just feeling a bit tired and brain-fogged today. It’s so far been relatively undemanding on the irk front, two meetings this morning but nothing major to do from either of them.

Rental Cat has been out and about a bit more, she was asleep on my office chair this morning so got moved when I needed to sit in it instead, so she decamped to the windowsill to watch the outside world. I went to make a cup of tea, came back and she’d gone straight back to my chair. I told her to wait until tomorrow when I’m on campus again and she can have the chair all day.

Nothing exciting in my future, grocery shopping this evening and at some point I have to wrap buffday gifts for 'im indoors as his Rotation Day is Thursday. And now it’s lunchtime, the fridge is almost empty and I have no idea what I want for food.

G’ mornin’ all! Life in the pond is continuing to be busy, but at least I’m still getting my porch time. It’s what seems to regenerate me.

Today ended up getting busier than initially expected. I have a bunch of the recycling that I picked up from Dad that I need to drop off at the convenience center. Then I have to head back to BtY’s school for his IEP reevaluation meeting.

At some point today, I’m also going to have to bring CtE to the doctor. They hurt their big toe at some point and now walking is painful. They stayed home yesterday to rest it, but were told that they would be heading to the doctor today if it wasn’t better. It isn’t, so either Hubby or I will be bringing them in to the doctor, whenever we can get an appointment.

I read everything but I’m still way too brain fogged to retain much. 8 more days of school and, hopefully, things will slow down. Have a great day, all!

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 58 degrees and dark outside. I guess it’s cloudy too, but I didn’t go outside to look. The high temp is supposed to be around 82 degrees, and rain showers may occur between 6:00 am and 9:00 am. Other than that, the day will be cloudy to partly cloudy.

I am grateful for the cool down. It’s been darn hot for the last several days.

Yesterday was an in-office day, and I was swamped as always. Usually, very few people are in on Mondays, and my boss isn’t there, which I like. However, he came in yesterday, so I chatted with him about some things that bothered me. He seemed taken aback, mainly because I don’t complain at the office (I know! Hard to believe, right?) He explained his reason for not pursuing the training I wanted, and frankly, it was not good enough. He could not explain the SD’s reason for omitting me from a delegation of authority, and I will take that up with her. I heard my boss on the phone with her shortly after our conversation, and the SD called me soon after. Ostensibly, it was to talk about some state meeting crap. She kept asking if there was anything she could do for me, and I finally told her, “Not while you’re on the road, but the next time we’re both at the office, we’ll talk.”

I’m still working on that resume; I already see where this is going, and I’m getting out as soon as possible. I hate this type of work anyway. I hope I see an excellent posting soon. I decided against applying for the Seattle jobs because I didn’t want to commute there. The days would be longer than I have now, and with the constant threat to recall feds to work more from our offices, I am careful about locations. The telework schedule I have right now is pretty nice (but even that will change), and I’m not in a hurry to add more miles, wear and tear to my Jeep. Also not in a hurry to have even longer days than I have now.

For now, I’ll continue to herd cats, shepherd recalcitrant huskies, not lose my mind when another employee forgets how to adult, continue to deal with short-fused data calls, and keep everyone in line.

In other work news, my boss asked if I would meet with them next week and drive to the state meeting place en masse. I told him that I planned to drive from my home to the meeting location and that the MPA and I had already discussed this. They don’t need me there to load up the GOV van. I’m not going to the damn office to work, get sweaty loading stuff, drive to Skamania, and then get to work again. I plan to work a few hours from home, finish packing my stuff, and hit the road; where I will take my sweet time getting there because I will stop for lunch along the way. They get enough of my time. Besides, how many people do you need to load stuff up? The MPA and PIO, and three other management officials will be there. They don’t need me there too. That’s just a waste of time. Besides, I’ll probably be setting up and taking down the meeting materials daily while we’re at Skamania.

Cookie, your rent is far too high to have such crappy (and so few) laundry machines.

I read everything but retained little. I was going to try and keep up via my phone yesterday, but I was just too busy.

Sending hugs, yays and boos as appropriate.

Hi all. Mid morning Tue here. Good to hear most folks are having a decent day with no crises since yesterday afternoon.

I mentioned that for Mother’s Day Her Ladyship had made pot pies & pecan pie. She uses Pillsbury’s prefab crusts but it’s otherwise scratch. Anyhow, turns out Pillsbury makes a version of their prefab crust that’s pre-scored into ~5" hexagons that are meant to fit muffin tins. So you can easily make muffin-sized whatevers. She decided to buy one of those crusts to see how they worked.

So dinner last night was turkey pot pie tarts using her leftover filling & the pre-scored crusts. Which worked quite well. So now you know.

Had a health night last night: no drinks, early to bed, and late to rise. Scored about 9-1/2 hours of Zs and feel much refreshed. Sleeping well & enough really does matter. Perhaps the USA would be in better shape if all of us could remember to prioritize that more every day, not just occasionally. I should certainly do more of this than I do.

Anyhow, up now, coffee made and half-consumed with no brain farts (yet), and now balconating under clear blue skies in the gathering warmth quickly becoming heat. Traffic noise is becoming vexatious as the morning wears on and soon I’ll retreat indoors.

Today is day 2 of my weekend and irk tomorrow seems all but a sure thing. I’ve put in my druthers so I’m covered if skating proves impossible.

Today being Tuesday, tonight is Taco Tuesday. A couple weeks ago we’d met another couple on our floor at a building social function and made tentative plans to do tacos as a foursome tonight at our usual craft taco spot. If that falls through just the two of us will probably try a little Mom 'n Pop nearby that has just reopened after a hiatus of a couple years that I suspect was COVID-related.

Other than that, it promises to be a slothful day of ignoring the few tasks I ought to do.

G’morning, kids! A NOS (did I do that right?) 60 degrees here now, expected to peak at 79 in the afternoon. I’m starting to miss central air conditioning…

Today I’ll be continuing to downsize some of the secondary collections here at work. There’s a small “leisure reading” section, for example, that gets no use and is (like the rest of the collection) enormously out of date. Funds need to go to modernizing the academic research collection and I have study desks and research computers coming that need space, so unfortunately the pop fic has to go.

Yesterday evening I got an email saying I’m past the screening for that fancy position in Minneapolis and have been “placed on the eligible list,” which now goes to a hiring supervisor for further screening. I think I’m likely to get interviewed, though I still doubt I can compete with more experienced candidates. We’ll see!

Jeez Taters, I hope you make it outta there too. Sounds like a morass.

I hope you wrangle some proper rest time soon, Real Fish.

Swampy, making that chili from scratch or using canned?

Every time you say this I read it as “Baconator.

Never been good at that, whether when falling asleep initially or getting back to it. Getting that email about the job yesterday evening kept me up an extra two hours going “what if” and now I’m sleepy the next morning. =_=

I do ok in the right light and from the right angles. Most people do. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yaay! Congrats on another tall hurdle leaped in a single bound!

The Baconater is my sole fast-food guilty pleasure. I only eat a couple per year, but dayum do they hit the spot! When I coined “balconating” I also immediately thought of Baconaters and said to myself: “That does it, I’m adopting this word; it’s that big and savory!” Great minds …

Well, FCD’s car is going to set us back $1K - apart from the long-overdue oil change, his brakes were pretty much shot (we knew they were bad.)

So that’s today’s good news.

On the plus side, I got 'nanners. So there’s that.

i get the son of baconator. sooooo good. now i want one.

Short heave today. i had time to kill before aldi opened, so I gassed up Carmen, so I went to Starbucks for coffee and to watch Screaming Guy wander around screaming. Spot went berserk, almost ran into a closed door, tried to kill Gordie’s Snoopy doll, was fishing around in the couch cushions for The Invisible Mole People, and is now watching the outdoors through the vertical blinds.

Hope they feel better!

[Homer]Mmmmmm…Baconator…[/Homer]

I read that as “got hammered”.

First day with the new (chukka) boots. I said they ‘bite’ my ankles in another thread. Not really. There’s plenty of room for my ankles; it’s just that the leather is new and stiff. I almost fell a couple of times in the basement (I’m in the orifice today) when I caught a toe on the thin industrial carpet. Seems to happen whenever I wear different shoes. Getting used to them.

I have to admit that I have no idea what my foot size is. I have some Converse All Stars from 20 years ago that seem tight. They’re 10½, and they fit when I got them. I’ve also worn sizes 11 and 12 in other shoes or boots. I’ve been wearing Keens for about seven years, and they feel nice at size 13. So there’s a range, and fits are different between brands. These new Clarks chukka boots are size 12. I just guessed. They’re pretty roomy. Not ‘sloppy’, but not as tight as my Alden 405s. (They fit wonderfully, but I could use just a skosh more room for my injured toe. Not really a problem, though.)

I’ve been trying to step up my sartorial game. The Missus wonders why I won’t just run down to the corner market in my pyjama bottoms. It’s Simply Not Done (by me, anyway). Usually I wear T-shirts and shorts or jeans. I only go into the orifice once a week; so I try not to look quite so slovenly. Today I’m wearing Levi’s 505s, a muted blue Aloha shirt, the chukka boots, and a Hamilton Ventura watch like Elvis wore in Blue Hawaii (or more accurately, like the Men In Black wore in the first film). Then there’s the new tweed jacket and vest. A new pair of black jeans and a pink-striped shirt should arrive in the mail today. And undershirts, which SWMBO will appreciate. If only I could get her to appreciate my bow ties. I keep telling her bowties are cool. At a couple of Christmas parties, my cow-orkers’ sartorially superior husbands who were wearing bow ties showed how stylish they are. Everyone likes my bow ties – except for SWMBO. Hey, I’ll look like Bill Nye the Science Guy, or Dr. ‘Ducky’ Mallard, or a fat Doctor (Who?) if I want to!

Canned? swampie? Our swampie? Bless your heart!
