(Old) The Joy of Brain Farts in the MMP

This sounds interesting. I really like the attachable towels for the kitchen. If they’re not bolted down, they walk off mysteriously…

Where can I find a picture of Spot? Congrats on new furry friend

Dog adoption did not happen. We picked her up and brought her home. She was hear about 5 minutes before she tried to murder Star (our blind Pomeranian). Fortunately Star is made almost entirely of fur and wasn’t hurt. She’s missing hair, but not hurt. I decided that we weren’t keeping murder dog, so we took her back to her owner. Quite honestly, she was huge and nearly uncontrollable. It just wasn’t worth the risk.

I ended up getting home around 1am, and then couldn’t sleep. I think I’m running on fumes, and plan to get very little done today.

Later this week we are headed up to Seattle. My niece is being welcomed to the tribe in a Black Foot ceremony. Many of my husband’s family will be there, so it’s a family reunion as well.

I’m going back to staring at a coffee cup and generally just drifting. I guess I’m one giant brain fart today. :stuck_out_tongue:

Take care everyone. Happy Tuesday!

Tobias napped about 90 minutes. Shortly, we’ll leave to pick up Roxy. So, yeah, exciting…

Filter any of this or the previous three weeks’ MMPs to just doggios posts and you’ll find Spot pictures in almost all of them. And often several pictures per post. This really is the Spot show recently. Not that that’s a bad thing.

Spot really is a winsome kitty and I’ve enjoyed doggio’s storytelling of Spot’s taking over their homestead. 110% pure feline overlord. I have one of those too.

The Spousal Unit sent me pics about 90 minutes ago, showing the guys laying the sod. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve finished, but I won’t get to see it for another six hours or so since I’m 120 miles away and it’s a long commute back to the ol’ homestead.

Thanks JtC and Swampy, I’ll keep that in mind.

Worked, worked out, went to specialty market for some pierogi that my sister called and asked me to pick up. She’s going to be in town tomorrow to rate the Country Club but has to be there from 8am-5pm and specialty market closes at 4pm. Then went to CVS to pick up Hubs’ 'scrip, got there at 1:34, the pharmacy closed at 1:30 for lunch. Aaargh! So went to Dollar Tree and picked up a card for Nephew’s BD. Then to Kroger for milk and banana. I’m tired; probably going to rest, maybe even nap.

Sounds like a fun visit with Sis in the offing. You got a lot more done today than I did; no wonder you’re feeling nappy.

The lawn guy just sent a couple of pictures of the new lawn. WOW! I can’t wait to get home so I can see the whole thing, put together with the new concrete.

Howdy Y’all! Twuck is home from the hospital! Got the call at three o’ clock that it was ready. We hopped in rental, rescued twuck, OYKW drove rental to Enterprise whilst I followed in twuck. We got that squared away and then, since we were RIGHT THERE, decided we’d get burgers from Cheddars for sup. So we did. The dawgs will be Thursday’s sup, since we must go to Sunny’s for the bbq sammich deal tomorrow. This is each Wednesday in May and we had decided we would do that each week. So we’re fed, home, and chillin’ with rain on the way in a while. I survived the doc and vampires, as well as the N.O,L. meetin’ at the church. Actually had some good N.O.T. soup, chickin sallit sammiches, pimento cheese sammiches, and 'nanner bread. No nappage today so I shall have to make up for that tomorrow.

Cat_Glove I make chili in big batches and freeze it, so there is always homemade chili at da cave.

Evening all. There are rumbles in the sky, should be storming here shortly. Spent time at the gym knocking off 600 calories and spending the evening trying to put them back on. Removed the now-vacant bird’s nest from the alcove and will look for some type of triangular wood tomorrow I can put up there, I have nothing against birds but I would like people to have access to my front door without getting pooped on. Dinner has been ingested and dishes washed and put away. so not much else on the agenda.

Swampy, glad twuck is home and doing fine, and that you survived the trip to the Doc.

Flyboy, hope the lawn looks as good as you picture it. I’ve thought about having my yard re-sod, got lots of dead patches and holes/hills over the years that could use some work. May have to get some estimates.

And like you, I wear various sizes (11 or 11.5 or 12 depending on the maker and type) of shoe. Just hard to pin down.

Sunny, at least you found out about the problem early, before things got settled in, glad Star is Ok. And sounds like the tribe induction should be interesting.

I was in the sauna at the gym and his cousin, Mumbling Guy, came in, talked to me and the other dude in there for about 2 minutes and then left–I asked the other dude if he had understood a word he said and he replied ‘nope’–and that made two of us.

It’s always a good day with nanners…

Fingers still crossed for you, Niner

Pilot, hope the Taco get-together went as planned.

Taters, keep that resume moving and what appendages I don’t have crossed for Niner I’ll reserve for you.

Real Fish, yeah a big toe injury is no laughing matter. Hope the Doc could treat it.

OK, rain has started so being inside is a good thing. Thinking about going to see “Guardians of the Galaxy 3” tomorrow, I haven’t been in a theater in probably 2 years or more and have a hankering for a big sack of buttered popcorn. We’ll see.

Take care all.

dicey, my paternal grandmother made hankies like that. Both my mom and I have embroidered pillow slips and dresser scarves.

I’m sorry that the new dog didn’t work out and glad the elderly pom wasn’t injured.

Yay for getting the twuck back swampy!

Irked, came home, walked Nelson before the rain and et. I got the first hem in one leg of the jeans that I cut into capris whilst watching TV. I’ll work on it a couple of more evenings before they’re finished.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Swampie: Hooray for twuck. & Cheddar’s.

Rat the best part about city living is the Colorful Characters. Better if they’re not wacked-out homicidal, but sometimes you have to take what you can get.

As to me:
Our neighbors begged off until next week. Oh well.

So instead the two of us hit the new/old Mom ‘n’ Pop Mexican. Turns out they’ve been re-opened a whole week now. I had an excellent set of barbacoa tacos and a michelada, while she had the weekly special which was a burrito of carne asada & other interesting ingredients.

They’re still working up, but the help is skillful & personable, the cooking is not plain old tex-mex which never did much for either of us real Southwesterners, and the walk is short. We’ll be back.

Today we rescued most of the Hosta’s from the house next door. It has been abandoned and the sister of the former owner, who has died, has decided that they will just let it go to foreclosure. They have not been here for the last three months and the yard is overgrown with knee deep weeds. I do not know how long one has to fail to make house payments before the bank comes to foreclose, but with the yard the way it is a flipper will likely just till everything under and re-sod. We had a spot for them and will get the rest tomorrow. No one had taken care of them for the entire time she lived there and they were very root bound.

It’s probably still in a box under a counter somewhere, folks tend to be highly resistant to the idea of throwing perfectly good tech away.

Shoulder or rump is also less expensive. Save the loin for a fancy dinner.

sigh.

He tried to leave his card at the breakfast place today. Between him and Mom, I have gotten into the habit of looking at the table and chairs for forgotten stuff because it makes me really nervous when they lose their cards.

A friend took us out for lunch a while back and it was really hard for me to NOT check the billfold for her card before we left.

Hubs father forgot how to use his electric toothbrush when he was Hub’s age.

See…maybe it’s a girl thing, but I’m far too picky about what I put on my skin to just use any random body wash. I bring my own body soap, hand soap and shampoo to hotels to avoid contact with their inferior toiletries. But, while I wouldn’t have used body wash I found in a gym, I might have just left it where it was so the owner could come back and get it, or I would have turned it in to the front desk if it wasn’t too much of a bother.

That won’t be nearly as much fun.

Owie! I hope they feel better soon.

I sure do hope you find something you like better soon. It suck to have to spend most of your days doing something you don’t want to do.

I knew I was always tired when I was working, but I didn’t have enough time in the day to get enough sleep. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to get more sleep, I just couldn’t until the weekends and then I had chores to do to get ready for another long week of work.

Now I go to bed when I am tired and get up when I wake up. It’s wonderful and I haven’t felt this good for years.

Keep the Lovecraft, weed anything else that hasn’t been checked out in the last 6 months. Move the Lovecraft over to 810 or 390 (American Literature in English or Customs, Etiquette & Folklore) depending on your mood.

I think you should stop self-disqualifying yourself for good things. You will rock the interview and charm the judges so much they want to hire your right away and cancel the rest of the process.

Dang, the hits just keep on coming, don’t they?

Tell her that your online groupies all love bow-ties! I’m sure that will convince her to change her mind toot sweet!

I’m so sorry. You did the best thing for everyone involved.

I have made hankies, pillow slips and napkins. Sheets too. I was so happy to finally learn about blunt needles, live suddenly became much less painful.

We went to our fav Mom and Pop Mexican place today too! But it was for breakfast…today was housekeeper day and we usually decamp for the duration.

Every time I order the nopal I pay attention to how it tastes so I can come back and report using better words than I did last time, but I’m over-thinking it by now. Hubs is no help, he thinks it tastes healthy…like something food would eat.

Our jerkface has been clawing at the new screen door, so we stopped at three thrift stores looking for a baby gate we could lean on the screen but put away for the 6 months out of the year that we won’t be using it. Didn’t find anything that looked like it would work, so checked the jungle and found the perfect thing for under 30 bucks so that’s what we will do. Goddamned cats. (We looked into getting metal screens like we had in our last place, but holy cow, that stuff is EXPENSIVE now.)

You did a good thing.

None of it has circulated in literal years, because there hasn’t been a librarian to check things out to people. But it’s almost all general pop fiction - Patterson and King and so on. It’s only a few shelves of stuff, and it’s all ancillary to the purposes of an academic collection. If I had space I’d be happy to keep it, but I don’t. (Also, we’re LOC, not DDC. )

You are correct, it’s very much a defense mechanism. The notion being that bad things/disappointments won’t hurt me so badly if I see them coming. That said - I also don’t think I’m being unrealistic about my chances in this particular scenario. :stuck_out_tongue:

At the rate Hostas grow and spread you could have saved same work and just transplanted one. You’ll have a hundred by Fall anyhow.

I vote with Jane on this one. You’re much more capable than you permit yourself to be.

Oh, ouch. You will be lucky to find a used book store that wants them.

You might be right about your prospects or I might be. Who are you going to trust, some random internet stranger or your own understanding of the process? :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously…good luck and may you be happily surprised.

Our hostas are out of control! They’ve never been so lush, especially this early in the year! I need to break some of them apart and spread them out.

Did I mention my car will go in the shop on Firday because of an intermittent but happening more often transmission issue? Yeah. But at 206K miles, it’s probably to be expected.

Daughter told us the whole drama about the “threat” against the teacher and ensuing crap. Apparently, there was a text where a girl said something about the teacher then quoted something from a movie (I don’t know what it was, but let’s say it was “Off with her head!”) A parent saw the text and reported it and the school followed the required procedure to deal with it.

Then the teacher went off the deep end, pretty much demanding that the student be expelled, claiming she didn’t feel safe. She bitched to the board, bitched to other teachers, and reamed my daughter over every perceived slight from the first of the year. Someone even called the police. There were several investigations and meetings. Bottom line, teachers (except for the “victim”) are OK with how it was handled. The Board is OK with how things were handled. Parents have been supportive. There are no rumbling among the students. (In fact, Daughter is #2 in the running for Staff Member of the Year.) The sheriff made the one inquiry and that was that. But the “victim” is now threatening legal action.

Needless to say, my daughter is just a tad stressed. FCD has been a boss so he had lots of good advice for her. Daughter has now learned the importance of documenting every single thing, and “victim” will not have her contract renewed. But my poor girl is mega-stressed. Less than a month of school remains.

They’ve gone home, it’s spitting rain, FCD’s car is back in the garage, and I need ice cream but I’m too fried to get any. Woe is me.

It’s been a day…

Up from naptime, having a Manhattan. I took a walk earlier, just in case Darci came crawling home. No dice.

To be fair, it’s tottering on shot to hell when I am there.

This. CYA/Let the guilty hang themselves.

Lovecraft should be shelved with fiction, under L, right before Maud Hart Lovelace.
