NIce morning at the dog park. Mid 60s and N.O.S.
I sat in the truck while my son took Echo in the park.
I got another bad cramp in my leg last night and the soreness never ends.
I was worried about taking my son to irk. I can’t get the walker out of the truck, and I’m still nervous without some support.
When I got home, I saw three open parking spaces and parked out front instead of out back. It’s a much shorter walk.
It’s harder to get in though as Echo is right at the door and I don’t want her getting loose out front since there is no fence. She’s not happy that I am leaving her home, but there is no way I can handle her on a leash right now. Especially with all the critters that hang around here.
The doctor told me to wrap my ankle in an ace bandage and to stay off of it for another week.
That is not happening.
Welcome back Sunny
I’m sorry the new dog didn’t work out.
GSDs seem to be rather difficult lately, I don’t know why.
They are often the trouble makers at the dog park, although we don’t see them often.
Or maybe the people who get them don’t realize they are strong dogs that need a lot of socialization.
I used to pet sit a few and they were not the easiest dogs to deal with.
I blamed the owners though.
I really wish people would do some research before getting a dog.
One more week until I get the new puppy.
I can’t wait!
Still no name. The breeder said to call him Cheesy because he looks like a hunk of cheese.
I think not.
Back when I was doing rescue, we would let the visiting children name all the kittens and puppies. We had run out of names by then and we knew the pets would tell their new slaves their names in their own time.
The breeder named GG “Cole”. While he was going over the paperwork, I noticed a book of baby names and opened it at the marker. Yep, he was at the “Co” section.
Well, a bit after 9pm my phone made the incoming irk noise. Tomorrow early I shall be off to lovely Quito, Ecuador. There to first dodge volcanoes then spend the afternoon & evening downtown, then return home smartly at dawn on Thu. Pretty nice work.
One “downside” to Quito is that despite the fact it’s at the equator, it’s at a high enough altitude (>9,000 ft) that, like comparatively low-lying Denver, nights are cold even if days are warm-ish. As in highs of 65/20 with lows of 45/12. And a bit like San Francisco, everybody there is used to living outdoors in those temps, so building heat is iffy to non-existent. Makes it hard on us scrawny thin-blooded tropical people.
Freezing my butt off while standing on the Equator; now that’s an odd idea. So will need to add a sweater & warm jacket to my summer-configured suitcase.
I’m guessing DDC might have something to do with Dewey Decimal but what is LOC?
FCM What happened to the student?
I did have quite a long nap 2+ hrs. When I got up, I made the leftover taters into Crash Hot Potatoes and served with leftover steak and a freshly made salad. Blueberry crumb pie with ice cream for me and chocolate ice cream with whole milk (to sort of stir into a milk shake) for Hubs.
That is the other system, Library Of Congress, which has more than 20 something categories and doesn’t have handy charts in every public library explaining how it works.
How have things been going for you lately? You have been pretty quiet, which could mean that nothing worth mentioning is happening, or that the world is ending and there is just too much to say.
Another day, another (couple of) dollars. Gods, we were dead tonight, too. I guess after the madness of Mother’s Day, the town is pizza’d out.
TweedleDumber didn’t even work 4 hours before my manager sent him home. He’s barely on the schedule this week as it is, and my manager confided that she’s planning to cut his hours further.
I asked why she doesn’t just get rid of him, and apparently there’s a bit of red tape involving the owner. Besides, he juuuuust toes the lines: he does show up on time, and he - kinda, sorta, mostly - does his job.
But she’s pushing him out in her own way (cutting his hours) and he’s already made noises about quitting. (Oh, I’ll be so SAD if that happens!)
… hell, I’ve already told two people that the day after he walks or is a no-call/no-show, imma bring in cupcakes to celebrate.
So my ex (my former IT Guy) with whom I’m still in close touch … well, he got married last weekend.
I knew he was engaged, and I’m genuinely happy for him.
But.
This is the 2nd major relationship I’ve been in, where I’ve broken up with the guy, and he goes and marries his rebound from me.
First of all, what does that say about me?
Second, what, am I running some kind of boot camp for husbands? I train 'em and get them all housebroken, and then the next bitch that comes along gets the polished result.
I was bitching to my manager about it and she said I should start charging a fee. That made me snortle.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard this term before, but I understand it completely.
Scary about the dog Sunny, glad puff ball wasn’t injured.
Flyboy, there’s nothing like a new lawn. We didn’t fertilize ours as we should have, and now we’re working on bringing it back to a mostly grass state.
Hippy, my husband doesn’t like hostas, and the slugs do, so no hostas for us. Glad you could rescue them and let them do their thing.
Sucks that this is how things are, but it’s a good habit to get into. For one person it might be a minor thing, and easily forgotten, but for another it’s drilled into their brain and they will never forget. Hope daughter can quickly recover from this stressful situation.
Sounds Gouda to me. (sorry, couldn’t resist) [and in the meantime, I got ninja’d]
When we met with our banker, he had his dog with him because his wife is traveling. His dog, who I think is a Bolognese, is named “Kiro” [kir - o]. Our neighbor’s dog, a brown Bolonka is named “Miro” [mir - o]. Never heard of either of these names before these particular dogs.
Yet, last week I met my coworker’s grandson, Jamiro. So it does seem that this particular family of names is quite popular.
Yesterday we spent 6 hours at the science museum and didn’t see everything. Plus, we missed out on the outside stuff, because it was cold and rainy. So we have to go back, but that’s something for September, maybe. One of the workers noticed us speaking English, so came and chatted with us a bit. His parents live in Texas, and he enjoys any opportunity he can get to speak English.
The museum has an electricity demonstration where one of the employees gets to dress up in a Faraday suit. Very fascinating - here’s a video from Youtube from 2019.
So today we’re back to adulting - more paperwork, grocery shopping, and currently waiting for some packages to be delivered. Speaking of groceries, maybe I should go do that.
Morning, mumpers! It’s 14c/56f with a predicted high of 17c/62f and cloudy. Weather app says “Don’t you just love the greyness of everything? I fucking do!” Clearly the app wasn’t looking outside a while ago when it was bright and N.O.S out there. It is a bit cloudy now, but there are patches of blue as well. More than enough to make a pair of trousers for a Dutchman.
Sunny sorry to hear about the scary dog, I’m glad the little fluffer wasn’t injured and it’s a good thing to have found this out quickly.
Mooom good to hear that Daughter’s trauma has been largely resolved but it should remind her to document everything, no matter how small and insignificant it might seem.
flyboy that is indeed a very fancy bow tie, well knotted!
sari yay for impending new pupper! Sorry to hear you’re still poorly though, hope you can rest your foot a bit more. This should be a lesson to your son that he needs to get his driver’s licence so you don’t have to injure/inconvenience yourself every time he needs a ride.
Nothing excitipating in my day so far, got to irk in one piece after braving a bus and two trains (with my successfully prepared cup of tea!), now busy messing with spreadsheets before meeting a friend for lunch as we’re both on campus today.
Tonight I am out with a couple of friends for our regular mid-week pub trip, tomorrow I am taking 'im indoors out for a birthday curry, Friday and Saturday are both gig nights so I think by Sunday I’ll be needing a rest. I also need to contact Luna’s fosterer to find out when he’s back from holiday so we can take her home. It’s been nice having her in the house but she isn’t ours, and won’t be because she doesn’t get on with Shadow…so home she will go!
