(Old) Thwarted Plans in the MMP

If it is, I didn’t get the memo.

See?

Half a muffin - which did not sit well at all - and I dozed but didn’t really sleep so, bah!!

Haven’t even gotten dressed yet & I’m already looking forward to being sent home for the night. :upside_down_face:

I’ve read that in most machines, there’s enough build-up of detergent residue that you can get away with doing exactly that, and in fact I’ve seen recommendations to occasionally run a no-detergent load of items that aren’t especially dirty, specifically to clean that stuff out.

Cite: “I read it somewhere on the internet once.”

Barn jackets that have been worn for 4 months without washing need soap before storing them. 9 out of 10 horse owners would agree. The 10th??? Words fail me.

metal mouse congrats to the youngsters on the teams you coach and to you for coaching them up!

BTDT!

On Thursday the manager said he wouldn’t be coming in early today to prepare the bank deposit but would promise to have it done by 10am. Last night for some odd reason I wasn’t at all tired at midnight or 1am or even 2am but finally went upstairs at 2:30am thinking I could sleep in a bit. I was woken at 8:06am to a text saying “Good morning, just a heads up. The money from yesterday is all counted just finished.” Ugh. I punched in at 9:57am. Haha.

Afterwards I went to BFs house and delivered the wire plant rack that Daughter is selling to her, gave her empty egg cartons as well as a box of Starbucks Kcups (Cinnamon Dolce) then she gave me 2 dozen eggs.

Going to make steak sub sandwiches with sauteed bell peppers and onions for dinner, will probably put muenster on mine. They’ll go on those amazing Italian herb sub buns that I bought from the Mennonite bakery.

I’ve agreed to sub as lector for tomorrow’s 8am mass. Then after brunch we’ll head to daughter’s. We’re going to go to Cranbrook Art Museum and will play putt-putt golf on the Cranbrook grounds. The art students designed the course and made various sculptures and other artwork for the course.

I likely won’t have time to post tomorrow until late so
Happy Mother’s Day to Moms, Stepmoms, Grandmas, Pet Moms, Foster Moms and those who are looked up to as Moms!

Finally talked to my mom, then called Daughter to tell her that my mom was concerned that checks she’d sent to her great-grands hadn’t cleared yet. Daughter is kinda casual about depositing checks.

My supper will be soup and salad. FCD wants a sammich, so that’s easy. The rest of the day will be max chillage. Overall, a mostly lazy day. Still coughing, but cough drops help.

Mrs. L.A. pulled some weeds, even though it was raining. I uncovered the barbie for T-bonz later. (I’ll make creamed spinach with feta to go with them.) My G-1 jackets were in storage for years, and they had a film of white/grey mould on them. I took them into the catio and washed them with warm water, saddle soap, and a washcloth. I probably shouldn’t have, but I rinsed them in the deep sink instead of repeated wiping with another washcloth. Hey, Navy flight jackets are worn in all weather, aren’t they? Anyway, they’re hanging in the catio.

LOL!!! Shall we change that internet advice to “usually there is enough build-up” to get away with washing a load of lightly soiled clothing without it once in a while.

Our winter riding gear always got washed in twice in detergent and then rinsed twice because road dirt and grease don’t want to come out easily.

I am so jealous about your bread source. I haven’t found a good bakery here, but then I lived in AZ for over 25 years before I found a bakery worth going out of my way for. (of course that one was down in Tucson, a two hour drive and always hot, even by our standards.)

I’ve arranged to have a single serving of flan and one slice of salted caramel cheesecake delivered to Mom. She doesn’t like it when I send her full sized treats because she will only eat a little bit and after a few days my sister will take it to work and leave it in the break room.

Tomorrow I will be donning my Handmaid outfit and hanging out at the capital and hubs will be going to have lunch with the family. Every holiday is a good reason for a family potluck at the church reception hall. While children and grands will give their elders small gifts and flowers, all he has to bring is a side dish. Tonight I’ll make up a pan of cornbread casserole, it always seems to be well received and it travels well.

Oh, wow, I do remember those days. Laying half awake and stressing about needing to go to sleep so I could get up and go to work never really seemed conductive to good sleep. I hope you sleep better tonight.

I used to read in bed and learned that I was training myself to resist sleep because I wanted to stay up and finish the chapter. Beds should only be used for two things (three if you count folding laundry) and reading isn’t one of them.

I went to a class on getting quality sleep and that is really all I took away from it.

Is hiring, onboarding, training and firing folks really that much cheaper than making a few part-timers full time?

Good on you. Sometimes we have to be mean even when we don’t want to. (thinking of hubs, oh yes I am!)

But only at high tide!

I made Monte Cristo sandwiches for lunch/dinner. My verdict is that it’s a lot of work for little reward. It’s basically a meat/cheese sandwich that’s been browned, but you have to make a batter to dip it in, which means dirtying up more dishes. It’s an okay sandwich, but I don’t know if I’ll bother with it again.

Afternoon all. Well, it did rain, and the temperature was 58F with a brisk wind and 100% cloud cover, but we went ahead and played soccer anyway, the boys enjoyed it, the parents, coaches and referees…maybe a little less. Am home now and being that it is still raining I plan to remain there for the rest of the day.

Sticky Buns, cute picture!

Oogie Boogie (or is it Boogie Woogie, can’t remember…), our organization is volunteer only, so all coaches, referees, etc. fo it for the kids, not for any money. We’ve been recruiting more youth referees, had a couple do my 10U game today and did real well (just need to learn to blow the whistle a little louder). I like the idea your floor hockey group has, may bring it up to the Comish next time I see him.

Taters, I used to have birds build a nest by my front door (it’s inset and has a short covered walk-up with a eave they can build on), but after removing several failed nests (and the dead chicks therein) I barricaded it. Hope your colony thrives.

JtC, one of the million ‘little’ hurts that will add up as time goes on. Sorry Hub’s kin had to be among the ones hurt. And enjoy storming the castle tomorrow!

And I do read newspapers in bed, mostly working on the puzzles, but I terminally behind in my reading anyway.

FCM, good news on the cruise electricity; we’re with MC cruises and they are more heavily a European line. Happy Cleaning!

lucky, enjoy your getaway.

Cookie, wise decision, now make sure she does it. And it’s only 58F here, I think our weather patterns got switched. And haven’t made a Monte Cristo in a long time, like you said, a lot of work when I could be eating a couple BLT’s…

And all caught up (for the moment). Long day is catching up with me some, so nappage may be in the near future. Catch y’all later.

Oopsie, that is a good thing you are doing for your dad, someday you will read them for the happy memories they bring to you.

Wet one, been there, re-washed that. I find using pods is a bit easier to remember, they go in first so I notice if I’ve added them or not…usually…

Cat Glove, thanks for the compliment, try to do my best. I haven’t been putt-putting since I was in Myrtle beach a couple years ago (they have dozens of mini-golf places there). Enjoy.

Flyboy, hope the jackets come out looking great.

Chilling in the shade on my lunch break, enjoying a pretzel roll slider with turkey & provolone.
The roll has a really intense pretzel-y flavor (sometimes they just taste like … bread) so will definitely look for these in the deli section again.

Watching a couple of robins hopping around in the intense sunshine.

Someone 'splain, plz?

We aren’t supposed to hit that until the end of the week. Maybe Mipples has swapped weather with middle Tennessee.

I hope that MrsCookie gets things sorted out soonest, cookie.

It’s one of those dishes that aren’t to bad to make on a large scale (think restaurant), but aren’t worth the bother for one or two people.

Sis and BIL are about 2 hours away now. I had a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for fried chicken, so I packed Nelson up and made a trip to Popeye’s for a two piece with a biscuit. I coupled it with a veggie salad when I got home and separated a bit of the thigh from the skin for the Nelson tax.

Spoiler: They did not nuke it from orbit!

Mom was living in the area when they made the movie and every time we saw it on TV she would point out the landmarks. We all treasure our brushes with fame, LOL!!!

Watchin’ the birds always cheered my lunch breaks right up.

West Virginia has one of the highest obesity levels in the US. It is no surprise that it applies to the leopards as well. I’ve almost chewed my tongue off not saying “isn’t this what you voted for?”.

I did buy several pounds of very pricey Arabica beans beans because they had a picture of a Ring-tailed Lemur on the front but mostly we like Robusta. I really hope they keep producing it, the US was a very important coffee market for that very small unoffensive country. If they can’t make a profit growing coffee, they will stop. That would be bad for folks like us as well as for the coffee growers…but good for the land so I guess that’s a win?

Sticky I was also surprised at how heavy my piece is. Thanks for the pic, I’m fairly sure your wonderful colors are really going to pop for me next month. I know that I picked three greens and can only see big globs of white in my bowl so I’m sure I’ll be happier with it next month as well!

dogbutler: < naps >
dogbutler’s right big toe: < cramps >
dogbutler: “GAAAHHHHH!”
Spot: < sneezes on dogbutler’s head >
dogbutler: “GAAAHHHHH!”
Live Klingon food: GAGH!
But Spot did clean the unsneezed side of my head. So I’m up, having a Sazarac, and watching hockey.

They can’t put anything on the Internet if it isn’t true

That’s gotta be hockey gear level smelly.

Carol doesn’t care. She want an automated company that only delivers high profit margin envelopes and medical orders. The customers and the employees below the board can DIAF. Besides we’re trying to cram 40k packages into the cars in 4 hours. More hands is good.

But it’s the only way to be sure.

Now that online shipping has dropped, packages might be the thing that saves them. But what do I know?

I’m glad you had a good day, sorry that you got cut early cause I know Spot deserves the top shelf gin you buy with your OT money.

Howdy Y’all! Been a rainy day so a good day for RDOS inactivities. I have read, watched teevee, napped and day drank. More rain tonight and tomorrow. Thus is the news from swampland.

First mowage of the year completed. It was quite shaggy, around 8" tall. In my defense it has rained for a solid week here. Glad I got it done. Sadly my riding mower is kaput, it needs, amongst other things, a new battery. But then my lawn is all of a half-acre. So it’s not that big of an ordeal.

Steaks and spinach have been consumed. I saved the ‘rib-eye’ part of the T-bone for steakeneggs in the morning. The Spousal Unit saved more. Mrs. L.A. got some Campari and Johnnie Walker Black out of the cupboard. She made some sort of drink. I got out the gin and made myself a negroni. Had some red plonk; and since the scotch was out, I had a snort.

Got out tonight in plenty of time to sit outside with Monkey, give him some 'nip to roll in (since I was having my own rolled-up plant matter) and toss him some treats to chase across the driveway.

Went back outside a bit later, and timed it just right for BAT TIME! :bat:

There’s two, who I’m pretty sure roost in the enormous oak next door.
As soon as I see the 1st star of the night, it’s time to pay attention, since it’s a brief, silent appearance.
Just when I start to get impatient and figure I missed them …

Tonight, one circled briefly and then shot like, heh, a bat outta hell in the direction of the nearby creek - their usual flight pattern.

The second one put on a bit of a show for me tonight, circling a few times, including once that was the lowest I’ve ever seen one … maybe 20 ft above the roof? (They’re usually higher than the absolutely huge old oaks in my 'hood.)

So that was nice!

Late Night Final here, and except for the Big Bowl of Pasta for dinner, have done nothing constructive since getting home about 6 hours ago. Will head off to bed fairly early as I suspect the coaching and refereeing will catch up with me shortly. Down to 59F and I am tempted to turn the heat back on in the house, but will forbear for now. More rain on the way tonight and a 70% chance tomorrow night, so wet it will be.

shoe, glad you got your bat-fix.

And that’s all the energy I have left to expend. Catch y’all tomorrow.
