(Old) Thwarted Plans in the MMP

Howdy, stranger!

I’m liking Boogie Woogie .. all in favor?

Nicely done!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

< takes bow >

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 11c/51f with a predicted high of 16c/61f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Could be colder, could be fucking warmer, whatever. I don’t fucking care at this point.” I do, I’d like it pleasant enough to sit outside the pub tonight, but not too hot in the house.

Not a problem I’m likely to encounter here  I put mine out the night before because there’s every chance the binmen will be round to empty it before I’m out of bed in the morning.

I’m glad to hear you got to see the doc and have appropriate medication for the wheezing.

Two packages in the right place on the same day? The delivery universe is smiling on you!

JBats that is a strange-sounding name for a dog. Could it be something foreign?

Nelson hasn’t got over the last time he was “abandoned”? Poor boy, he misses you

I logged out of work yesterday afternoon and headed straight to the gym to burn off at least 666 cals (that’s what the pushme-pullyou machine told me I did) as well as some weights stuff. I picked the best time to go, it’s a small gym and there were about half a dozen people in there when I arrived, and closer to 50 when I left so I’m glad I got my weights in before cardio.

I’d got leftovers for dinner, and had a quiet evening on the sofa with two of the cats while Muffin skulked upstairs. She hasn’t come out of her corner yet but sitting here, I can hear sounds of scoffing behind me so I know she’s having some food. I’ve got a cuppa and some oatmeal for breakfast so we’re technically having that together.

Hopefully I’ll be out at the pub with friends tonight, after a day of faffy little jobs here. I need to do campus food for the next couple of days too, so that will get done when I finish work for the day.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 63 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 81 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse beginnin’ around ten a.m. TWPTB say we can expect this for the next several days. We shall see. The big items on today’s agenda are the procurement of provisions and to go over to the church house to assist with the cleanup/organization of the kiddies classroom. OYKW may or may not join in on the latter. This will occur mid-afternoon. We will attend the Wednesday doin’s this evenin’ which will take care of sup. It will be tough to squeeze in nappage, but I shall persevere.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, as I must be amongst the great unwashed, I will purtify and don appropriate apparel.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

I’m not being hateful when I say it’s a good thing MIL is gone. It’s been lovely open-the-window weather but she’d be complaining about it being cold all the time. In her last months, she was so skeletal, she had nothing to insulate herself, so she was always bundled in afghans and long sleeves. I do enjoy the fresh air without being asked “Aren’t you cold??” all the time.

FCD just left for the Hyundai dealer. The Santa Fe gets free (yeah I know we paid for it) service for some amount of time/miles and it’s time now. I’ll be glad when we can go to our own mechanic - he’s 5 miles away, while the dealer is a tad over 20 miles off. My sweetie plans to sit there and play on his phone while they do the service. His appointment is at 8 - with luck he’ll be home for lunch.

I’m thinking I’ll pull a meatloaf out of the freezer for supper. That’s as far as my thinking is going. Maybe after more caffeination… There will be sewing today (I was going to say sewage, but, well…) Not sure what else - the day is an adventure!

Happy Wednesday!!

I am currently sitting very quietly so as to encourage Annie to eat her food. She had a false alarm when my mom came in but then decided to go back to bed. After she’s done I’m going to do some toe yoga and then get on with my day’s events.

JtC, it looks like my glass will be here today or tomorrow. As to the cleaning, I just cleaned and organized everything and then sent him a picture. Meanwhile I let him know that if there was something that he didn’t like that it could be changed.

BooFae, I hope that Muffin didn’t leave any hair in the oatmeal!

Lastly, I want to say that I realized after the fact that sharing the information about my grandmother was neither the right time or place. I apologize.

I was just looking at a family history that my cousin put together after going to Poland a few years back. Dunno why I hadn’t really read it before. But it appears that my paternal grandfather was one of 10 children. He was married in 1916 for a week when his first wife died. He married my grandmother 4 years later. Which means the wedding ring that FCD is wearing that belonged to my grandfather has the date of his first marriage, but he wore it when he remarried.

I also saw that his first sibling was born in 1875 and the last came along in 1899. So my great grandmother was pregnant every 2-3 years, except for 1886 and 1887 when she had two children just under 14 months apart. And it appears the daughters born in 1886 and 1899 were both named Zofia. I’m sure there’s a story behind that, but Dottie didn’t include that in her family tree.

No reason - just felt like sharing.

Oh, and my baby sister turns 60 today. But those of you who friended her on FB know that already.

Good morning all. My kidneys decided to take the night off and let me sleep all the way to 7am without interruption. Am now in fast mode awaiting my 10:30 Doctors appointment, which is going to be the toughest part of the exam. Then weight training at 3pm and the rest of the day is all mine. They rain that was 70% sure last night is down to a 25% probability today, so we’ll see what the day brings.

Looks like folks were in a talkative mood.

Ah, the exercise of the Beast…enjoy(ing/ed) pubbing.

The Horror. The Horror…

FCM, hope the servicing is fast. And I like the looks of the Santa Fe, may have to add them to my car-shopping list. And happy Sister birthday!

And need to type up my notes from yesterday’s meeting that I subbed in for and send them to our Soccer Commissioner, at least it will keep me busy and my mind of food…
excuse me, Pavlovian reaction there…for awhile at least. Take care all.

I like our Santa Fe, except for the “safety” features that you can’t modify or turn off. For example, it’ll ding and a message will pop up that you should consider taking a break. But it’s weirdly random - like after driving all of 10 minutes around here - not even on the highway. And while I understand the warnings for blind spot and “too close you might hit it” (which dings when we back out of the garage, warning us about the lumber rack on the side of the garage) - anyway, I hate them because they can make you complacent. If you aren’t aware of your surroundings while driving, you shouldn’t be driving, IMHO.

Plus when he switches from the Santa Fe to the truck which doesn’t have any of those features, he forgets that it won’t brake for him if he gets close to the car ahead… That stuff aside, it’s comfortable and has tons of room - seats 7 if you have 3 skinnies in the middle row. And when you put all the back seats down, there’s a buttload of cargo space. We’ve got the XRT, so I don’t know which of those features apply to the lower levels of trim. I am a big fan of Hyundai, tho, as I’m almost at 220,000 on my 2012 Sonata. Just FYI - surely worth considering.

OK, showered and dressed and about to descend to the basement and my sewing machine. Onward and downward!!

I prepped and (partially) ate lotsa food last night, so I slept quite soundly, until the inevitable bio-break.

Now I’m having Dinner v 2.0 (I guess normal people call that breakfast?) off the leftovers while Monkey runs around outside for a bit, then hopefully, a bit more sleep.
The previous sleep was wonderful and I’d like some more, please.

Speaking on behalf of absolutely nobody but myself, l don’t think you have anything to apologize for.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, done my PT homework and fixing to do KP. After that, I’ll adult and find out just WTF is going on with my short term disability claim. I’ve been paying for this for years and they make it a part time gig just to get it. What would they do if I was totally incapacitated?

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Good morning.

It’s overcast and 56°F. The expected high temperature will only be around 62°F, with forecasted rain showers later today.

I went to bed early last night with hopes I could sleep, but the sleep was restless, and the dreams disturbing. Maybe tonight will be better.

One of my co-workers/friends called me last night. We’re friendly outside of work too, and often do things together. At any rate, she told me she soooo wanted to call me yesterday from work, but she muddled through two situations on her own, thanks to the very detailed guides and SOPs I’d left behind. She told me I should be proud because those guides are helping a great many folks left behind. I guess that was nice to hear.

At any rate, if my son doesn’t come up on Saturday, I’ve tentatively planned to walk with T at a park south of the Capitol.

Right now, I’m enjoying the last of my coffee and planning on hopping in the shower for some errands. Other than that, I don’t plan to do much with my day. Maybe we’ll go out to dinner tonight; we shall see.

No. Too slippery.

You’re joking! You’re joking! I can’t believe my eyes!

Oh, that’s Oogie Boogie. Sorry.

So, this week, I’m in the office. This is the first time I’ve been in the office for more than a day since COVID started. My puppy (18 months) is going through withdrawals. She was great about only chewing on her toys; this week, she’s taken a couple of things off the coffee table.

{ clutches fainting pearls }

Is it cynical of me to suggest that’s what they hope for?

What sort of errands does one do in the shower???

I’ve gotten some sewing done but I needed a lunch break. I’ll get back down there in a bit. Something made me check the measurements on one panel - somehow, FCD cut a piece that was 18 3/4 on one end and 19 1/2 on the other. Fortunately, 18 3/4 was the correct dimension so I just had to trim the excess. All the other panels were exactly right.

The one big pain I have is figuring out how to get the fabric to curve on one end. I may have to cut it and stitch in a strip. Or maybe I can pleat it. My own fault - I didn’t make the new covers like the old ones, so I caused myself this problem. But I’ll figure it out. Then we’ll just have to make patterns of the joining panels.

I forgot to pull the meatloaf out of the freezer, so we’re having sausage instead. I may run to the store for some kraut after I stitch up the remaining corners. But now I’ll finish my lunch.

The wife woke up with far less dizziness, but then bent over to do something and it came back.

My bagel order from New Yorker Bagels arrives today. Loves me some pumpernickel.

Finished all the puzzles and made it to exercise again and am now slothing.

So today I was loading the Middle Blue set in the 300. Not to bad. I had to finish up the one car in bottom Red. Again. Just a little clean up today. After work I went to Staples for a new key board and mouse.
Cashier: “Do you want to add the protection plan for this?”
Me, out loud: “No thanks.” Unspoken: “because the cat repeatedly teabagging the wireless mouse probably voids the warranty anyways.”
I stopped at Tar-Jay for belt and some Gatorade powder. Now it’s bran flakes and blueberries before bed.

The A/C takes care of #2, but you’re spot on for #1

:champagne:

String you on till you quit trying, or die.

I don’t think so either.

What errands can you get done in the shower? Inquiring minds want to know.
