I’ve noticed that at Food Lion - daytime is geezer time. And by that I mean people who walk at an ultra-leisurely pace, blocking aisles and/or shelves with their carts, pretty much oblivious to anyone else. If you end up behind one of them, it’s impossible to walk at a normal pace. Makes me crazy!!
You and my sister should hang together - she’s got 28 and the main reason she stopped was that her Dr told her she couldn’t have any more after some procedure she had. (I don’t know - she’s has so many health issues.) All of her inks have significance to her - none are “oooo -pretty - I want that on me!”
And I wasn’t even looking for them! I was looking for some scraps to make new ones of them! Anyway, I’ve got the fabric cut out, so I can proceed with final assembly - well eventually. I still have one thing to work out. I know how I want to do it - just gotta figure out the details.
Had an early lunch because I was starving! I need to have a bigger breakfast. In fact, I was reading that one should have larger meals earlier in the day and smaller ones in the evening. (Breakfast like a king, supper like a pauper.) More morning food is easy. Smaller evening meals will be a behavioral challenge, breaking the meat-and-three habit. More veggies, less meat, right?
I’ll let my lunch digest a bit, then get on to the more challenging part of the cushions. Not in the mood today - I’m pretty sure it’s draining sinuses that’s causing the sore throat. Stoopit pollen.
Hugs to you. Do you have the possibility of getting pet insurance? I know that wouldn’t help now, but maybe for future visits. We have a Paw Plan for Annie and it is definitely helpful.
FCM and MetalMouse, you just reminded me of yesterday when I was looking for something very small in my car. I spent a good long time thoroughly investigating and found a 20 oz bottle of Caffeine Free Diet Coke under the driver’s seat. It had expired in January 22, 2024.
I recommend against tasting it - especially if the car has experienced temperature fluctuations.
I had the misfortune of gulping down some caffeine-free diet coke, only to discover it was something like 3 years old. (Bought by someone who didn’t drink the stuff - she had it for guests.) Yeah, it was vile. Dunno if the regular caffeinated stuff would have fared any better.
Well, the wife is feeling somewhat better, but she begged off the Mozart concert we were supposed to attend today. Suits me, as concerts and plays are not really my thing. In fact, anything that requires me to sit in uncomfortable chairs for more than a half hour is right out, as my back just won’t take kindly to it. Later, I’m going outside to yell at some clouds.
All puzzles puzzled, cat fed and napping, breakfast long over (bagel, scramble, coffee, blueberries with yogurt & honey). I think dinner will be one of those heat & eat Indian curries, which are pretty good. I make rice to go with.
I’m in the last stages of canceling out an old credit union account that I opened a very long time ago in Alaska. The last CD finally matured and rolled into savings and I ordered a check sent which got here a couple of days ago. This is an account that had the checking part of it compromised to the tune of over $16K a couple of years ago, and that has had its Visa compromised at least a half-dozen times. So off with its head! A couple more things to do and then we’re quits there.
It’s another beautiful spring day in the Cities, so perhaps a short outing. I tried a walk the other day and the hips really flared up. I fear another trip to the doctor is in order, and I’m not sure that injections are going to do the trick this time.
You could try getting some smaller plates. A dinner plate over here is 10". The idea is that smaller portions on a smaller plate deceive your brain into thinking they are the same as before. A 9" plate is nearly 20% smaller than a typical 10" plate
Our daughter has done this and it does work, up to a point.
I do use some smaller plates. The challenge will be changing my supper paradigm. It’s the way my brain has been wired for 70 years. I’m thinking omelets will work well, along with veggie soups and salads.
The real challenge will be on our cruise. Too many tempting options. I hope that before June 26, we can have some good habits firmly entrenched.
Just went out and pulled some weeds, then sprayed some particularly noxious ones. Chilling for now.
Evening, mumpers! It’s currently 13c/55f with no predicted change, and partly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s fucking mint outside, which is great unless you’re a cat. Cats fucking hate that shit.” Well, it’s quite pleasant outside but all the cats are indoors.
I completely missed the MMP today, I have had one of those days…the Travel Gods were kind to me this morning and although my train was running late, I got in on time and relatively unflustered. I’ve had to sit through 3hrs of management training nonsense, then came back to the office and joined the online union meeting just in time for the crucial vote Worked this afternoon trying to finish the thing I was meant to do yesterday and prepare for a bunch of things I need to do tomorrow.
I managed most of that and even managed to leave on time. The Travel Gods were kind to me again on the way home and I got back in relatively good time. Cats are fed, litter trays are clean and I have leftovers for dinner tonight. I need to go out later to collect 'im indoors from the station, and on my way home I remembered to get some milk. I’ve also managed to trim my nails without stabbing myself with the scissors!
Apparently white smoke has been spotted, so the world is waiting to find out who the new Pope is.
I recall that back in Sister Mary Whatever’s class we were told that the Cardinals prayed and prayed and prayed till they decided who God wanted as the next Pope. At the other extreme, in the show Borgia, Faith and Fear portrayed the process as very political and, frankly, just a little dirty. I’m guessing reality is somewhere in between. Anyway, they did it pretty quickly, and soon we’ll know.
> First American pope elected and will be known as Pope Leo XIV
I’m giving serious consideration to starting a cat feeding service. Not staying at a house, but going however many times a day to feed and check on kitty. I don’t have a cat feeding person so I can’t take vacations. I would do it within a certain radius, like 10 miles. No dogs, no giving meds (I don’t want the liability). Cash only…. Mumper thoughts?
Good morning! Ms. Dog and I are up, washed (Well, I am.), have had our morning constitutional, did some housework (I cleaned; she inspected.) and breakfasted. She prefers hers to go: she takes.a bite, brings it to the living room, drops it on the rug, then eats it. Repeat ad infinitum.
She pulled the Spot Maneuver while I was trying to make the bed this morning. Unlike Spot, she obeys commands. Also unlike Spot, she immediately forgets commands and jumps right back on the bed. I’m walking her to the falls this morning. Maybe that’ll get her ya-ya’s out.
The birds are oddly subdued in the woods behind my place. Maybe they’ve gone from Barry White tunes (aka Chirping Your Way to Hubba-Hubba) to Brahm’s Lullaby, or maybe they got in a huge row and are not speaking to each other.
Yep, that’s the one I go to. I liked the name Bark and Garden, but Watson’s has more and better stock, I think, and another cashier or two.
I’m going to call first. Most of it is more or less indoors. It’d be funny to put her in the babushka cart with her head sticking out of there. Maybe I could put some decorative vines over her and pretend she’s a lawn ornament.
Sticky, I’m sorry about the loss of your boyfriend. How awful. For the record, I bitch because I have a near-phobic response to wearing equipment to bed, but I DO do what’s necessary for my health. When I go in for my next appointment, I’ll ask the sleep doc about how much damage 7 incidents per hour does. In the meantime, I’m grateful my sister and brother, who both had MUCH higher incident rates, are using their C-PAPs so they’re more likely to be around long-term.
Gorgeous vase, by the way!
I’m told this is the case by some C-PAP users, while others say they still hate the damned thing but use it anyway.
Ms. Dog says to tell you that to her, it’s Ms. Walk-a-Lot Day.
Have you asked the nurse to check your BP manually? I don’t have high BP, but I noticed it’s higher when it’s measured by the automatic monitor, and a nurse confirmed that’s true. I find the automatic devise more painful, and pain increases BP.
Don’t forget the homeschooling families who don’t actually do much schooling. I keep seeing kids at the mall or the supermarket and thinking, "Why aren’t you in–oh, right.
WetOne, I’m sorry for you AND Ariel. All the stuff done to my corneas, and I’ve never had them scraped. It makes me blink to think of it.
As for the cat-feeding service, I’d just call it cat-sitting. I’ve done it in the past. You’ll need to be willing to clean the litter box and engage in a little play time, but there’s no reason you’d have to stay WITH the cat.
flyboy, if I see any donkeys, I’ll salute them. I’ve said this before, but I had a neighbor once who had a donkey (in Wyoming countryside), and it drove me nuts. In the wee hours, he’d go, “HEE! HEE! HEE! HEE!” It’d take him a full two minutes to finally get to “HAW!” It was like listening to a distracted toddler: “And then he…then he um…then he went…he went…then he went to the barn.”
Absolutely true. Now I dont let them do a BP unless they’re willing to do it manually. The automatic ones are notoriously unreliable and painful, which indeed hikes your BP. I just nope! out of them.
