(Old) Waking up to White Stuff in the MMP

Kittens are cute little terrors. Four-legged demolition units, but cute.

She looks like the image for a Christmas card!

What cuties!

Howdy Y’all! We procured and stowed provisions. Then we switched over to full RDOS sloth mode. First nappage and then we warded off scurvy and malaria whilst we sat out beside the cee-mint pond. The sun was out so we chose to go out there. Burgers ‘n fries then got fixed and et. I do so like livin’ in a place where we can grill year round.

Back from SIL’s b-day dinner. I had one grand on either side of me - who knew they’d wear me out during a meal!!! Ready for some full-scale chillage.

I’m tired. After 2 days of re-organizing the warehouse, then a day of packing up an exhibition to be shipped out, I don’t want to pick up anymore heavy stuff this week. But I fear one more day of packing is in store. Looking at a long day, too, it’s our monthly staff meeting, which means I need to go in extra early to open.

Disappointing day today. We went to Milton because I wanted to go to the Blenko Glass Co, go through the museum, watch the workers and then buy a cobalt blue vase. As usual, the drive was lovely, even when the sky turned grey.

The museum was up two flights of stairs as was the viewing areas and the restrooms, no elevators.

The glass in the store was beautiful, but nothing called me so we left empty handed.

The rest of the day was good, we went to my fav dispensary - which is next door to a Fazoli’s. I thought the company went belly up back when they closed all of the stores in AZ, I guess I was wrong.

We passed on that and went to our favorite Mexican place instead.

Our cat sitter noticed that we weren’t home when she got off the bus and texted asking if she could sit for free because she had an assignment due (and our internet speed is better than theirs). She was at the dining room table when we got home and was really doing homework!

I saw my first fox in the wild a few weeks ago. Are vixens like cats? Once you hear it you KNOW what they want?

:frowning:

Good evening all. Spent a long time at the gym, I take a book with me (paperback) to read while cycling, and often take longer breaks to finish a chapter or to browse on my phone. Still got home in time to fix my Cheeburger and added some carrots and Pringles for balance. Watching You Tubes and will be heading off to bed in a bit (still need to get the garbage out, though). 50F tonight and supposed to make it to 70F tomorrow so not a bad January so far.

doggio, Spot looks rather…imperious…sitting on the dryer like that.

FCM, I had to google ‘blast media’ (the stuff I learn here…). And yeah, my money guy tells me each time I visit him new ways to earn more money and I try to tell him I appreciate his concern but I’m 73 and want to spend it, with enough left over for emergencies.

That sounds delicious!

Cookie, great picture, ought to save that for next year’s Christmas cards…

Maus, I don’t know that I would even know how a Vixen (female fox) in heat would sound, so went to Google and there is a You Tube of it…and yeah, that would get your attention (if your curious, here’s the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTx8RxK3hqQ

lily, darling picture. Glad they seem to be acclimating to each other.

VanGo, there are folks at the gym who would probably enjoy all that lifting and moving. But I’m more on your side. Take care and get a good night’s sleep.

JtC, at least you were out and about today and kudos for letting your cat-sitter get here homework done quicker.

And 8:20pm, feels like it should be later than that, but a couple more You Tubes to watch and then probably head off to bed. Catch y’all tomorrow.

Forgot to mention that my favorite dispensary has a blue Blenko water bottle on the side table. It had yellow letters that spelled out “Glory To Ukraine” and was holding bright yellow sunflowers.

Gasps and clutches pearls. It appears as though Harry might not be telling the truth about the strange noises in the night. I was pretty sure that Mothman didn’t scream like a women being killed, but he does make it sound believable.

Up from naptime. Dinner was a martini, with chicken and cavatappi and spinach with porchini mushrooms and olives.

He takes his role as Small Egyptian God very seriously.

Awww.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s a balmy 47 degrees Ferret Height(8.33 Centipedes).

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 2c/35f with a predicted high of 5c/39f and cloudy. Weather app says “It’s not that fucking funny outside right now. Sorry about that. I’ll try to fucking do better.” I hope so, but we have a severe weather warning for snow and ice tonight when Storm Goretti reaches us at some point today.

Happy birthday to FairyChatGrandma! I hope she had an enjoyable day.

I was sorry to hear you’d lost a kindle, but glad there’s a backup version around for you. Still no sign of the original?

Instead of playing with cats? That’s very dedicated of her!

Yesterday was uneventful, we took down the last of the hexmas decorations in the office and packed them away until next year. Work was slow, there was much chatting and so very little got done. My commute home was much easier than usual and I managed to stay upright. Much of the ice had thawed during the day, and this morning surfaces are wet rather than icy. Made it to the station without incident.

For info, our pavements don’t get gritted. The local council has a map of Priority 1 and 2 routes that they will grit regularly. These are normally bus routes, routes to hospitals/clinics, particularly steep hills, and around care homes and nursing homes. They will only grit roads, not pavements. That’s down to anyone who chooses to clear a path in front of their house.

I didn’t go to the pub with my friends, they’ve had an incident at home! Their front door is a wooden frame with a solid frosted glass panel. Somehow, the panel shattered so they’ve had to cover it with cardboard until they can get a new panel in there. Naturally, they weren’t keen to leave the house unattended while it’s not completely secure, so we opted not to go out. They should get a replacement panel this week.

Dinner was burgers for me, and ‘im indoors made some chicken fried rice. We watched the last episode of Wednesday (on Wednesday!) and an episode of Slow Horses. He’ll need to watch it again today because he dozed through most of it, and then decided to continue napping on the sofa. I gave the cats their nightly treats and went to bed.

This morning’s commute was a good one, everything ran on time for once. Now all eyes are on Storm Goretti which is promising us all sorts of nasty things. My local area has an amber weather warning for gales, heavy rain and snow overnight tonight, so I’ll be taking my laptop home again in case it’s not worth trying to get to campus in the morning.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 57 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a DENSE FOG ADVISORY until ten a.m. and a predicted high of 72 and cloudy. OYKW has expressed a desire to go to the hog trough GC for lunch. That will take care of today’s main need to feed. We might have a ramble, but I think I would rather come back to da cave and hermit.

BooFae seems like that could be a nasty storm. Good idea to bring the laptop home just in case. Hope your friends get their door panel replaced soonest. We have glass side panels on the front door. I shall be givin’ them the side eye from time to time.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. The things I do for some fried chikin!

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Due to generally waking up way too early, I was sitting here snoozing in my chair for a few when I heard some sort of noise that woke me up. The latch on the screen door is missing so sometimes it swings around.

I went in and got mine and Annie’s breakfast and sat back down. Then I hear what sounds like a cat fight going on. Because it’s still dark out and the front foyer is small, I am not going to open the door to check things out. Perhaps after the sun rises I’ll go out the kitchen door and walk around to take a look and see what kind of event is intermittently taking place.

Very weird thing last evening after we got home… I went back to take my meds (just a tad later than usual) and I heard water running. After dashing thither and yon in search, I discovered that the faucet out front was turned on. A mystery for certain because it’s behind a hedge of forsythia beside the front porch. I don’t see how an animal could have bumped it - I’ve been suspicious about someone screwing with us.

A few years back, someone put some small firecrackers in our mailbox - there were some bits of paper and a couple of unexploded pieces. Then there was the drawing of a large dick on the road near our driveway (tho the neighbor who shares our back fence had one in front of his house, too.) More recently, there’s what appears to be sand or salt in our mailbox, and now the water. Oh, and FCD found the remains of a toy drone in the yard that had been gnawed on by Otis. It’s all rather odd and a tad disturbing. I don’t get it - we haven’t had any arguments or anything with neighbors - in fact, we barely interact with any of them. Weird…

Latest boat stuff - ignore if you’re tired of all the not-yet-floating drama. We’re having all the teak removed from the decks - I think I mentioned that it’s in terrible shape. Anyway, yesterday, they discovered a section of rot on the flybridge. When manufactured, wood is sandwiched between fiberglass, and in the section in question, water got into the wood because of some structure screwed into the deck, hence the rot. So they’ll have to cut out the bad section and repair it. rah. Definitely not a DIY thing for us.

Then all the way aft, there are 3 panels for access to the lazarette (a storage area where the fresh water tanks are.) There were plywood sheets sandwiched between the lower panel structure and the teak decking, and that needs to be replaced. Fortunately, we can do that. FCD ordered fiberglass sheets and he’ll bring the panels home. We’ll replace the old plywood with the new sheets. We’ll have to do something similar on the 3 steps leading to the flybridge, but they’ll be simple fixes.

We also decided to put off having the bottom blasted and painted till spring. It’s not as urgent as the deck repairs, tho it does need to be done. The yard manager is looking into some options for us - we’ll see what develops on that front. We have a quote if we want it done now, and with the other repairs, well, since we didn’t win the lottery…

And that, boys and girls, is part of the joy of owning a 40-y/o boat. At least it’s not as bad as when we had a 1937 wooden sailboat. We shan’t go into all the “fun” that one offered.

Plans for today - not much on my part. Naturally, FCD is going back to the boat. I’m not sure what I’ll do. Probably attack the car insurance issue. I got an ad from USAA in the mail yesterday, so I’ll see what their quote is.

I had looked into Long Term Care insurance - that ain’t gonna happen for us. Not at $1500/month or more!! We opted not to get it when we were younger and it would have been more affordable. That was probably not the smartest decision - oh well.

And so another day begins. Happy Thursday!!

It’s Thursday morning, so hello, Thumpers! Here in NW Indiana, it’s 40 degrees F, headed to a high of 54 this afternoon.

FCMom, I had to look up “blast media,” thinking maybe FCD wanted you to buy bags of explosives. Googly says you’re probably talking about sand, and context leads me to think it’s for traction, not for sandblasting.

It’s actually granular coal slag and it’s for abrasive cleaning (yeah, like sandblasting) to clean some metal vent covers. Sorry - my retired brain still slips into engineer mode on occasion.

OK, shower is overdue and I’ve decided to give both bathrooms a good cleaning today, so woo and hoo!!

Mornin’ all.

It’s 36F and cloudy at the moment. The forecast calls for occasional rain showers and a daytime high of 44F.

FCM, that is strange. I sure hope you (or your neighbors) find the culprit. Perhaps someone was pissed their drone was damaged. Perhaps they shouldn’t fly it over other people’s private property.

Mr. Tater’s foot was doing much better by yesterday evening. So, hopefully, all is well. I will, of course, force him to the doctor if there is pain down the road. The last time he seriously injured himself, he had torn his Achilles tendon after having to jump off a falling ladder at one of his delivery stops. He hobbled around on it for weeks, and when he went to the doctor, he was ordered to emergency surgery the next day and spent 3.5 months recovering before returning to work.

Other than the usual tidying as I go, I spent the day in RDOS sloth yesterday. I should rectify that today, so we’lll see how it goes.

Alrighty, time for more coffee.

Kitten logic is truly bizarre. Why Kasya decided to start biting the shirt I’d gotten out to wear today, while it was innocently lying still on the bed awaiting its turn to be put on, I have no idea.

Morning all. The Garbage truck woke me up about 7:30am so I was glad I did get it out to the curb last night. Have broken fast and am more or less awake, with little to accomplish today outside of bringing the trash bin back to the garage. It’s already 57F heading to 70F today, but rain is due tonight and most of tomorrow, so that may cool things down.

Boo fae, hope your friends can get the door repaired quickly. I guess that there was no sign of any deliberate damage to the glass, so if I had to guess the weather probably had something to do with it. Hang in there and hope the weather isn’t too severe.

Sticky Buns, the sounds might be one of those mysteries of the universe we all encounter now and then.

FCM, yes, those events are a puzzlement…my first inclination is teenagers, but some of those stunts don’t sound like things they would do. As long as things don’t get weirder… Never thought about Long-Term Care Insurance and at that price probably won’t, just hope my compos remains mentis all my life…

Taters, glad the Mr’s. foot is doing better, but keep an eye on him anyway…men can be sneaky about injury…

Nettie, she probably figures the shirt is some new and exotic meal or she is marking it as her territory, or most probably because she’s a kitten and I haven’t a clue what goes on in a kitten’s brain…

And that’s all for the morning report, need to go fetch the garbage bin and do the morning internettin’. Have a good Thorsday all.

We had the fog yesterday, albeit, it was warmer.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to to KP. Happy Thurdsay, y’all!
