(Old) Whatcha want on your MMP...izza?

Thank you, Lily.

 :joy:

laughs/gasps/coughs/laughs again.

My little small town is getting too big and I want to sell out and move. It’s turning into a truck stop town, with fast food, dollar stores and all of the small local places can’t compete.

I don’t remember when I chose the small town life…or if it just was part of being born small town, but this big city life thing just doesn’t work for me.

I went to the apartment tonight for unpacking but had little energy for it. I only got through 2-1/2 boxes of clothes and most of that will be going straight back out to Goodwill. I have so much winnowing of stuff to do so I am attacking it all without ruth and getting things done. Until I run out of energy. Unfortunately, that happened pretty quickly today. But I will do better tomorrow because Friday!

{{{JtC}}} that bites. You da best, you know. A good daughter, and a good friend.

Cookie, I’m glad you got help for your woes of discomfort. That’s nasty stuff you were dealing with. Don’t ask me how I know. Just don’t.

Nettie & Bob, those are beautiful kitties. You might find them more amenable to photos by checking to see that your flash is off.

Enjoy a well-deserved vacation, Taters.

Swampy, that’s a lovely looking cheesecake.

Wishing you all a fabulous Friday.

So it was no Panamanian Vince, no one doing empty bags, and once again me lying on the steel catwalk.

Well, today’s was being trapped in an extra dimensional closed mall that was full of giant spiders, motion sensing cannibal giants, shapeshifting rooms, and parkour before I escaped through the loading dock.

I had a Negroni tonight, so maybe it’s the gin. :cocktail:

He is a cat.
Spot is always in a strange mood

Yay!

((((hugs))))

Yay after a shitty situation.

{{{{{JtC}}}}}

As someone who works unload occasionally, I appreciate his effort.

Wishing you excellent culling karma on the morrow.

  Spot

Posting from Georgia!!

We’re here in America! I haven’t even scanned the thread this week. Sorry!

The flights were insane. Two plus hour-drive to the airport, three plus hours before take off.

Four-plus hour flight to Taipei.

Three-plus hour layover.

11-plus hour flight to San Fransisco.

Three-plus hour layover.

One hour mechinal problem.

Four-plus hour red eye flight to Atlanta.

Getting the car, etc.

90 minute drive to Mom’s house.

Door-to-door, 40 hours and very little sleep.

Crazy.

That sure does look like a trap to me…

and BTW guys, folks out this way fuck around with their clocks and stole an hour from me. I had been wondering what was going on.

Well every day is
Kitten brain: "Touch me! Touch me! Touch Me!
Feral brain: “You’re touching me! I have to chew your arm off to escape!”

So, you adopted Janet? Damnit.

(Sorry, can’t edit to make the blue letters bigger. Maybe NSFW)

I haz a very jealous.

If they have the kind stuffed with very finely minced beef, cooked with bacon and onion, would you please eat some for me? That’s the type I like the very best.

Oh, my goodness, I haz very many sads for you. That’s a lot heaped onto a lot.

I’m proud to say I knew exactly what you posted before I clicked the link.

the king of the complex eh? That pose says “Why yes I am the king of all I survey and you shouldn’t forget it”

my fav was this weird combo of somewhat mashed potatoes, garlic, and cheese …they were store made tho

did you fly or take a greyhound …not much different except on thebus you’re on your own for food …

Ok Allie Cat is the queen to buddys king lol although shes a bit more scary lol

are you sure you didn’t take a greyhound instead of fly? cause t ats the basic greyhound trip with the bonus of the most expensive fast food corporate will allow
TIP:: you see any fast food/chain locations that buses stop at just keep going as they will be the only ones in the nation that cant/wont participate in any discounts deal or promotions that’s going on I discovered this the hard way …

ok something messed up so sorry if I’m repeating my self

A stray kitten found me again, this one a tuxie, probably male, no apparent mama in vicinity, probably not feral (seems fine with humans, has mastered drinking his formula from a dish). I’m already in contact with someone about finding him longer-range care than I can provide.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. At least the Heat Index is down to 87.

Being a tuxedo, he does kinda look like he’s running around in his underwear.

My grandmother’s recipe is smashed spuds, farmer cheese, and mint. I’d be tempted to sell the grands for a plateful of that bliss!

Not a kitten, but we’ve seen a B&W cat lounging in our yard in recent days. Yesterday, I saw him in the shade of our truck when it was parked in front of FCD’s shop. (I assume it’s “him” - I will not befriend or adopt him.) He looks well-fed and healthy so he’s either someone’s pet who likes our yard or he’s a competent hunter and scavenger.

He’s also a temptation - after gray cats, I like tuxedos about the best, except for Himilayans, and Siamese, and torties… dammit.

I got between 6-7 hours of sleep, not uninterrupted, but the interruptions were quick trips to the throne room before returning to sleepland. I feel close to human this morning.

MIL called yesterday - she got bills for her electric and rent and she was in a panic. No matter how many times we tell her all those are paid automatically, she still panics. She’s 92 and she worries about the effect of late payments on her credit score! Old habits die hard, I guess.

We meet with our money guy at 11:30 today - it’s time to discuss drawing from our annuities. We don’t need the money at the moment, but we want to know when we have to draw, how much we have to draw, and what to do if we need a big chunk right away. Plus there’s the third account that’s for the grands - it hasn’t been doing much - from $119K at the start of 2020 to $148K right now. It won’t be needed for at least 12 more years, so plenty of time to grow, but I still want to discuss options. Afterwards, we’ll grab lunch, then probably head to the school.

And so it begins. Happy Firday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 88 (BRRR!) and partly N.O.S. for the day. We shall take care of some cookin’ for tomorrow as today’s main task. Other than that 'twill be a day of high sloth and general overall uselessness. We have no where we want to go or need to go which is fine by me. Any need to feed today will be via forage as we have plenty of sammich makin’s and so forth.

Nettie thanks for the pic tips. Who knows, maybe both of my functionin’ brain cells will bump into each other and remember that in the future.Hope stray kitteh finds a forever home soonest.

{{{JtC}}} I know the feelin’ and can empathize. Make the best of the trip and enjoy bein’ with your mom. Of course, you already know that. Try not to let the bright lights of the big city enthrall you.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,

Happy Firday Y’all!

Mornin all! Happy Friday to y’all.

Got up late-ish for me, so about 6:30. Now balconating post-sunrise it’s a sunny 84/29 on the way to 91/33. Supposed to get some frog-stranglin’, toad-drowning, duck-soakers later today. At the moment neither radar nor looking out the window gives any cause for concern.

In the arid southwest those are called “gully washers”. As in “create a mongo flash flood that washes everyone and everything downstream, leaving a shiny fresh debris- and undergrowth-free gully.”

I definitely got my bag limit of whole-body sun yesterday; I’m a happy shade of pink all over. Now to let it soak in a couple days before zapping me again.

Tonight we’re set up to do dinner with two other couples at a local nice Italian place followed by an outdoor amphitheater concert featuring a Neil Diamond tribute person / group. That time last night it was raining steadily. So dinner’s reservations are for indoors, not on the patio and will come off rain or shine. The concert is far more tentative. I’d sit through a concert in the sprinkles, though none of the women and only one of the other men would. Rain around here is far more likely to be slamming than sprinkling though.

Other than that, slothage is the order of the day. This has been a rather busy irk month for me. Typical for summer, but somehow feels more burdensome than prior years. Must be gittin’ old or sumthin’. I’m done with irk days for the month as Fri-Mon are my off-days. Which is another way of saying potential overtime days, and I’m never too tired for that. You’re only as young as they’re willing to bribe you to feel.

If the Mumpers have taught me anything, it’s that the half-life of giving up a found cat is about a day. As in every day the odds you’ll be willing to part with it cut in half. Yesterday was 100%. Today is 50%, tomorrow will be 25%.

I bet he’s yours for the duration. Just accept your fate, it’ll be easier than struggling. You are being assimilated.

Two thoughts:

Those bills usually show the prior charges and immediately prior payment. Which, being automatic was of course on-time. Can you persuade her to look at that and be mollified?

With my aged MIL as she became less capable we changed the mailing addresses on all her bills to a PO box near us we’d rented in her name. With her permission of course. The bills came to us, not her. We were the ones paying or monitoring the auto-pay anyhow. She was a bit non-plussed the first time she noticed it had been awhile since she’d seen a bill. Real quickly she adapted to it.

Especially when we explained to her that reigning Queens such as herself did not concern themselves with such administrative trifles. That’s what the household staff (i.e. us) was for. Once she got that idea in her head she was totally happy. You know your MIL and I don’t, but you might give this trick a try.

Ouch! I’m a bit surprised the easy way from northern Japan to southern Georgia was via Taipei, but surely you had your reasons. Hope the kids did a good job holding up.

My worst was St. Louis to Wellington NZ via Los Angeles & Auckland which came to a mere 28 hours door-to-door. I was younger and had no family in tow. 40 hours x four people would have been quite an ordeal for you all.

OTOH 100 years ago that would have been a 2 week journey. Less directly tiring, but a LOT more time and boredom invested.

Good luck w Mom & the rest of the US trip. We’ll all enjoy hearing your travelogue and how the kids (and you & wife) react to the USA.

Yaay! You’ve certainly had a roller-coaster month or so. With luck from here it’ll be getting nothing but smoother & better. Sleep is the best medicine, and it’s real hard to OD.

I’m already at my lease-specified limit on pets, and Allie reacts worse to kittens than she does to Buddy. Not fair to her, even if I could. I’ll make sure the little guy gets to where he can find his servants.
