(Old) Whatcha want on your MMP...izza?

Happy Friday!

I think anyway.

It’s 77 degrees outside and feels hotter.
It’s supposed to get up to 97.

Misiu is a lot better this morning, although he is still not totally himself.
We were going to take everybody with us this morning, but it’s going to be too hot.
I wanted to get everything done in one trip, I have a script to pick up, mail to take to the PO, my son’s glasses are ready to pick up, and go by Brusters or Dairy Queen for Echo’s birthday ice cream.
She is 4 years old today, the GR are 4 months old today.
Brusters is expensive, but good, and is near the eyeglass place.

I’m nervous about the epidural this morning. I don’t know what to expect.
My only restriction is no food or water for 2 hours before the procedure. I assume I will be able to drive. If not, my son has his learner’s and he’ll be tossed into the deep end. We’ll take a back way because he is nowhere near ready to take RT 40 through town in the middle of the day.
Heavy traffic, narrow lanes, people crossing in the middle of the block, people opening car doors into traffic, big trucks that don’t/can’t stay in their lane. Typical city street with a lot going on.
Just the other morning, some guy missed his turn and made a U-turn in the middle of the one-way street and drove the wrong way back into traffic to make the turn. Fortunately for him, traffic wasn’t heavy and everybody was able to get out of his way.
Lots of crazies out there.

Ugh, Sensei, that sounds awful.

{{{JtC}}} I’m sorry you are going through this.

Well, time to get ready to leave.
Hopefully it will be easy and in and out quickly.
Once I get back home, I will be back to looking for a lawyer.

Welcome Sensei, enjoy your travel recovery and our intense heat.

Didn’t even need to click your link. I have corrupted many a young mind with that movie. (hee hee)

Shoe, I want to you know that it is your fault that I have been craving pizza all week. I still haven’t been able to indulge but I’m thinking that at some point this weekend, I will stop by our local Neapolitan pizza chain for a good margherita pizza. The tomatoes are ripe and the basil won’t miss a couple of leaves. Best summer pizza ever.

Why I can’t indulge easily. The person I have been staying with has a psychosomatic reaction to the scent of cheese - it makes her puke. Also, a good takeout pizza does not exist in her neighborhood. And I’m a foodie so I avoid the standard Domino’s, Little Caesar’s etc. On top of that, good takeout is expensive and I haven’t much dosh. Once I’m in the apartment though, with my own kitchen, pizza indulgence shall commence.

Hahahahahaha - you made a joke!!! We’ve been dealing with this since October. She’s always been the one who paid their bills, always by check. She doesn’t trust what she doesn’t understand. I set this up to be paperless, but obviously that didn’t take. It’s just the way she is.

Here’s what I’m up to:
Imgur
It’s the worst part of the project - measuring and cutting. Even with the old piece for a pattern, it’s going to be a challenge, since it’s all stretched out. So measure twice (or thrice, or more) before cutting. The sewing will be a pain, too, in that Sunbrella is pretty stiff - I’ll have to roll it up in my lap before I start.

Beware of cussage from Southern Merrylande!

Apparently the worst of the heat has passed on, although more is on the way. But we get a few days of respite, albeit at 70% humidity. T-storms that were supposed to hit us last night passed us by - again. Drought conditions are pretty bad around here.

Another night of little sleep. Gotta get this figured out.

Mornin’ everyone.

It’s 58F and cloudy. The sun is supposed to come out from behind the clouds around noonish, and the expected daytime is 84F.

JtC, sending you the biggest hugs.

Cookie, I’m glad they figured out what was happening, and I hope you start feeling better soon.

Swampy, I used to make cheesecake for my daughter’s birthday every year. I used very thin, crisp lemon cookies that I crumbled up and whisked in the food processor as a base. I also used grated lemon zest and sometimes added orange zest to the batter. It was very delicious.

I was hoping that I didn’t have to work late yesterday, but unfortunately, that happened because I tried to make sure everything was in place, and then my director called me. I signed off my computer at 4:30, so it’s better than some days.

My daughter celebrated her 10th wedding anniversary yesterday; time flies. She sent many pictures of the kids and views of the house and the surrounding area. They are staying in a pretty small house until they get one built.

As I read the news this morning, I had to stop myself from sharing an event or news story from the area surrounding where she used to live. And, even though we message daily, much as we did here, it’s still different knowing we can’t just buzz up or down to each other’s home.

Anyway, today is the first day of vacation; I slept in very late after going to bed very early. I was TAH-RED!!! I may toddle down to the Orange Box or the Blue Box later this morning. No rush. I also need to take care of some adulting.

I didn’t make any serious plans for the next couple of days because I just want to decompress and not feel guilty for not getting something done.

Time for some yogurt and a 'nanner. Then we’ll see where the day takes me.

{ curtsey }

I aim to … please?

Morning all. (This is Friday, isn’t it? Vacations real mess with my days). Another 95F day and only a 10% chance of rain. Need to get to the bank and go Shorts shopping at Wal-Mart, outside of that nothing much planned. Swimming and sauna will be accomplished and I’ll resist stepping on the scale per nellie’s recommendation.

{{{JtC}}}. I remember what it was like with my dad, he remembered me ok, but was so lonely and despairing after Mom died and the dementia never helped that. Take care.

Pilot, you mentioning sunburn and blisters on your heels reminded me of the day I went out sunbathing in Abu Dhabi…took precautions for most of my body, but didn’t think of my feet…sunburned soles are not fun… Enjoy the company and hope the rain misses you.

red, I still have to do setups on my new phone, dreading it since I have few skills at it.

vroom, hope you get all the stuff sorted and moved. And may pizza time be near.

Sensei, welcome to the South. Hope the 90F weather doesn’t cause to much angst. My February return trip was 5 flights, 4 connecting airports, and about 27 hours, so I can sympathize. Get rested up now.

Nettie, kitten sounds cute, if swampy wasn’t on the other side of the country I’d suggest you two arrange something.

FCM, hope MIL can adjust, it took me until last year to finally convert all my ‘regular’ payments to automatic drafts, and still am getting some paper bill although I am trying to get it set to paperless for all of them. Go luck on the money stuff, my annuities (that I draw monthly on) are slowly recovering from 2022 wipeout, but still have a way to go. Have fun cutting up…

Sari, hope the epidural went well, and yeah, driving in the city can be an adventure.

Very, very smart. Enjoy you ‘me’ time.

OK, need to forage for First Meal and then don more-or-less appropriate attire for Wal-Mart and be off. Take care all.

Cussing has begun. First as I wound bobbins. Then as I tried to adjust thread tension. I miss my old Viking machine - it could go thru 8 thicknesses of denim and not even notice. My newer electronic Brother machine is fine for regular fabrics, but the sunbrella is heavy, the thread is heavy and has some sort of coating, and I fear the motor doesn’t have enough ooomph to push thru more than 3 thicknesses of the fabric.

My mom had a Viking - dunno if she still does, but I’ve asked to borrow it, so we shall see.

This is not going to be the simple project I expected. Dammit.

In the time that @Seanette and I have been together, the Universal Cat Distribution System (UCDS) has tried to give us a total of five cats, so far.

Our two non-UCDS cats were Felix (who we got right after we returned from our honeymoon in 1995, and who lived with us until he passed away in 2011), and Allie, who we got as a successor to Felix, a few days after he passed away, and who is still with us.

But in addition to our two non-UCDS cats the UCSD has tried to give us…

  • A little solid black kitten in 2012.
  • Buddy, who we’ve kept, who claimed us in April 2022.
  • While Buddy was settling in, a mother/daughter pair of black cats that appeared on our patio last December 2022.
  • And now, a black/white kitten that followed @Seanette home last night.

Are you in the process of writing a country song here?

So did I.

That sounds about like the ones that my grandmother used to make and one of the reasons that I grow mint.

seanette and bob, you have a couple of pretty kittehs!

That’s one heck of a trip to your destination sensai. Have a good time visiting the States.

Birthday skritches to Echo sari! (and little skritches to the GR). A trial by fire may be the poke that your son needs to get better at driving and get his license.

swampy, I used to make a strawberry / kiwi cheesecake for my niece’s birthday every year. Those were her favorite, but she would have eaten any kind that I had made.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, bed stripped, a load of sheets / towels needing folded, a load of clothes in the dryer and about 1/3 of the way through houseirk.

I need to go to the AT&T store today to get this password thing straightened out (passwords will be the death of me). Oy! I’ll do that when I step out for groceries.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Weeble is a cutie, with impressive lungpower for someone his size. He’s only about 4 weeks old, far as I can tell, so shipping him to our favorite ursine would probably not be a good idea.

The painter in our apartment complex also deals with cat rescue (she also tends the feral colony on-site). I’ve already been in touch with her, since she’s a member of Buddy’s Facebook group, and she’s swinging by this afternoon, presumably to convey him to foster care.

Morning, all.

It seems I only drop by lately with bad news, but what are you going to do? Have to take another cat for her trip over the Rainbow Bridge. Pixel is 18 years old and failing rapidly. We lost her littermate back in February and now I’m afraid it’s her turn. She’s been up and down for the last month, and yesterday was the worst. She managed to get up onto the bed last night and spent the night cuddled against my back. That’s been her spot for 18 years and I’m going to miss her terribly.

{{{{{{ Silenus and Pixel }}}}}}

So once again a diffrent crew. Survived it, and one more day till a day off.

I got a hyper manaic for you!

{{{{sari}}}}

{{{{Silenus and Pixel}}}}

The vet said I was doing the right thing and that it was time. I’m sure Pix was in agreement. Still spent 15 minutes in the vet parking lot bawling my eyes out. So much for stiff upper lip. I think the rest of the clowder understand why they are getting hugged so hard.

Not a country song, but John Cougar Mellencamp wrote the small town Anthem some time ago, IMHO…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CVLVaBECuc

Pizza! supreme, deluxe, whatever ya got I’ll take a slice! If I’m making my own personal pizza it’ll be Italian sausage, jalapeños and pineapple. Or a margherita with anchovies.

Thank you all for the kind words. I’m not enjoying this journey and I’m pretty sure I’m not going to like the destination at all, but there isn’t a way to get off the train at this point. Mom doesn’t seem overly distressed which is a blessing.

It’s good to finally be with my people!

I took Dad to a midnight showing of Rocky and he had a good time. He had no clue at all as to what was going on, but when a couple of pretty girls wanted him to get up and dance, he did the Time Warp like a pro.

How do city folks know where they are going after dark? There are no stars!

My non-medical opinion from reading this is that any sedation they do will be light and short lived. If they didn’t tell you to bring someone to drive you home, that usually means you won’t need anyone.

Good luck!

Hand stitching with awls? I seem to remember Mom using special sewing machine needles for denim…

LOL!!!

That’s fast work, good job! And good on both of you for helping this little one on his way to slave ownership.

I’m so sorry. :people_hugging:

Yep, he’s long been one of my favs. Point of interest: I was raised in Bloomington, CA. It was too small for a hospital so I was born the next town over.

There’s something in the air here, too.

:crying_cat_face:

Aw, jeez.
