Nearly done with patio mine-out (I’ve had to do short bursts over multiple days due to back pain), I’ll finish the last couple little things once the anti-inflammatories kick in. Not sure what the rest of my day holds besides refereeing cats. I should be assembling a new bookcase so I can get the storage room closet under better control, but not sure what the back is going to say to that. Also really should get recycling taken in today, but that’s going to depend on getting DH to help.
I’ve got the grands. SIL is i the hospital and daughter went to be with him. Don’t know any more than that. We’re playing in the basement.
The Slides went smoothly. I guess Garner has burned up all the bad karma and negative waves for 30km. Of course I didn’t get out early, because the brought me the damages and rewraps late. But I get paid by the hour, so Hakuna MoMoney. Laundry is in the dryer, and bacon, eggs, and a gin&tonic are in me, so naptime till State plays.
I’ve got Nellie and Gordie’s ashes and collars on the shlef in the living room. To protect me from The Invisible Mole People.

Well, pics are either sleeping, or a black and white blur of hyperactive zoomies.
Holy crap!
Norway may be concerned about this sort of event happening when a ship is in the fjord. Things are melting…
https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.adm9247
A rockslide generated tsunami in a Greenland fjord rang the earth for 9 days.
Daughter and SIL came and claimed their spawn. SIL will be getting some outpatient care - that’s all I’ll say here. Lest I say bad words about US healthcare…
The kids had fun. I promised Roxy a sleepover some day soon - I’ll work that out with Daughter and FCD. For now, it’s quiet again and I’ve picked out the next afghan pattern. The one with the revolting recipe came out quite nice:
From lightest to darkest - cream, mushroom, toffee, cinnamon. I’m pleased with it.
On to another pattern. I think I’ve decided which one to use. Now, to select the colors.
Got the lens caps. The kid said they’d be three bucks. Fortunately, I had $2 and a $1. I took pictures at the Marine Park, got a couple shots of White Rock, and finished the roll around the marina. When they say 24 exposures, they mean it.
I got my bread and eggs. Then I was like, ‘Hey! The Wife is gone for the day! Time for my guilty pleasure!’ So I got a pound of ground beef and a bag of broccoli. It’s cooking now.
I got the Apache case for the Pentax cameras. They also had a smaller one that was $29.99, on sale for $19.99. Score! That one will be perfect for my two rangefinder cameras. I’ll be picking foam later.
Indeed, that is very nice~pretty and it looks cozy and comforting (and I should know, wink, wink).
Just checked on the DAWGS! . Looks like they’ll be ok if I stop cheering long enough to go to the gettin’ sto’ to pickup my order and then (hopefully I’ll be notified by text it’s ready) my Joann’s Fabric order. Gotta put together a sewing kit for my grand daughter to use at school to use to make puppets and costumes and social studies dioramas and community service projects with her gifted mentor an hour a day. Tickles me to no end that that apple didn’t fall far from the maternal grandmother
tree~she’s an insatiable reader too. Her community service project idea is to hand sew festive bandannas for the two therapy dogs that ‘work’ at her school, Scarlett and Spicy. Scarlett is a gorgeous golden and Spicy is a platinum doodle, both the only reason she hasn’t totally revolted from going to school.
Red, yellow and white, with a little arrowhead in the middle. I’ve done some scarves and granny square Christmas stockings like that.
Clackity and I went on the shopping trip. It was very odd. I was the only one on the trip.
Once again clackity sparked joy. It is so much easier shopping with the clax cart. The only difficult bit is getting off the bus. If the ramp isn’t deployed, it needs a bit of lifting.
Hmmm, perhaps if I roll it backwards…
I did manage to get out for a walk, then made a trip to the grocery, so the day wasn’t a total loss. On the way back from the grocery I saw a kid almost get hit by a car. Ran right out in front of it. I flashed back to when I was hit by a car when I was in about the third grade.
I made some resin keychains today while my supervisor looked on. Then I went and picked up MusicMan and we went to Applebees for lunch and I came home and took a long nap.
Glad it was just a dream!
The people in the great state of Ohio like leftovers, too!
Ugh
I never would have envisioned that the words ‘guilty pleasure’ and broccoli would be in the same sentence.
Yeah, but you can be an honorary dogfather / catfather to a bunch of Mumpets.
I’ve made picture frame shadow boxes for Sis for all of her dogs who have passed. They include a pic, their name / nickname(s) and their collar with tags. They hang in her hall way.
Awesome! I’m still waiting to hear from friends in Bradenton.
I hope that they get things figured out and find effective treatment for him.
I went to the 'Boro to pick up a Marketplace buy this morning (got my money’s worth). On the way home, I stopped at a Goodwill, but the help was rude and the lines long, so I left without buying anything. I swung by Tar-Jay / CVS to pick up a couple of prescriptions and some popcorn chicken to top my supper salad. Now, I’m sorting my haul to put away.
Of course!
I hope you get it worked out soon, You probably need your phone for work.
Oh gosh, I’d eat until I couldn’t walk to find the pastries. I hope you had a great time.
I already know that I agree with all of your words and have a few more to add.
I really like that afghan, great colors and soothing pattern.
Good supervision makes such a difference in the end result. It’s even better when your sup is so cute and cuddly!
I woke up this morning with a line from a Woody Guthrie song running through my head: “I ain’t got no home in this world any more.” Off COURSE I have a home, at least I have an apartment to live in. The problem is, I’ve moved around too much in my life, and except for the last move, not by choice, so I don’t have a home base. Also, my siblings live in Illinois (except for the one in Louisiana), and my kids both live in Washington.
I’ve moved 19 times in my life. I’m tired of it. I’ve owned 3 houses (in succession). I feel like I’ve gone backwards, another expense of the divorce.
Gah. Enough bellyaching. Even I’m sick of it.
We went to the farmers market, which, like most farmers markets, is a great place for babies and dogs and those of us who love both. I saw the hugest dogs I’ve ever seen in my life, even bigger than the Grand Pyrenees my former had. They were leonbergers. Is anyone familiar with them? They were SO sweet and so endearing and patient, but the big dog everyone had been exclaiming over looked like a VW Bug next to a dirigible. I looked 'em up when I got home, and they only live 7-9 years. Not that I’d get one. I’d need a separate apartment just for the dog.
MetalMouse, I have a train question for you. I saw about 200 tanker cars (not an exaggeration, and it might have been more), all black, all coupled together, on a railroad track. (I didn’t see if there was an engine.) I’ve been around trains all my life. I’ve seen trains with 200 cars total. Why would there be so many tanker cars in one place? Any idea?
That’s the cutest supervisor ever! Question: Is it against corporate rules for you to snuggle with your boss?
Tater, those are the dreams that make waking up a relief.
Oh, the irony.
Howdy Y’all! I survived another that was kinda close win by my DAWGS. Apparently I was good cause OYKW said I won’t need extra speshul double sooper seekret confession tomorrow. I am, however, slightly tipsy as I post. It would be more tipsy, but sup got et durin’ halftime so I absorbed foodstuffs to ward off excessive tipsiness. Or sump’n like that.
Boo I think your RDOS my team has a bye week participation helped the DAWGS. Your grand daughter’s community service idea is so great. I’ll bet the therapy dawgs will look great in their festive bandanas!
Taters glad you got in some RDOS practice yestiddy. It’s good to work up to these things slowly. What an awful dream! ICK!
JtC I have a tendency to wash pots and pans, mixin’ bowls, bakin’ pans, and the like as I go. Both of us also have a tendency to use and wash the same drinkin’ glass (actually mine is plastic, insulated, and has a Jawja DAWG on it) and cup, so it takes a couple to three days to have a big enough load.
VanGo that does indeed suck. That’s what phones do, however. Laptops and ipads like to do that as well. I haven’t had a desktop in years, but I’m sure they still do that as well.
MOOOOOOM it occured to me to run vinegar through the Keurig this mornin’. GMTA!
CupCakes sounds like you had an informative and nummy day.
Cookie glad your friends are OK. I need to do a beard trim. I did think about this mornin’, but then I quit lookin’ in the mirror and forgot.
Sticky_Buns yay for MusicMan makin’ it home and for N.O.L. out together.
red I fancy myself a honorary granddog/catfather of all Mumpets.
That happened to me this morning. I was shocked to see that a neck beard had cropped up when I wasn’t looking. I hate neck beards. So I got out the electric machete and attacked it forthwith.
Up from naptime, and a head licking from Spot. Having a Sazarac and watching a missed field goal fest between State and Syracuse. Dawgs and Badgers won, I see.
Also, I managed to hurt a couple of fingers at work. Not by lifting something heavy, or getting it jammed between boxes, I picked up a crayon wrong.
I will join you.
[Tinfoil Hat]Instant hurricane syrup for the Deep State Weather Machine[/Tinfoli Hat]
I do mine on Sundays. It’s part of my day off ritual.
Glad you had proper supervision.
Evening all. Made it through the soccer odyssey, went from a long sleeve referee shirt and sweatpants to sweating in short sleeves and gym shorts. After soccer was finally finished, for some reason I stopped at the gym (guess I was feeling guilty about going to 5 Guys) and knocked off some more calories, then got my cheeseburger and their delicious (and deliciously fattening) fries and have finished them off along with way too much Diet soda. Felt pretty good all day but now that activity has stopped I am beginning to feel the results of all that activity. An early bedtime is likely.
Taters, odd dream, hope you can relax and put it behind you.
VanGo, sorry to hear about your phone. My main TV won’t turn on with the controller, the soundbar and Satellite box work fine with it, so it’s probably a TV problem. Hopefully both our problems can be solved quickly and cheaply.
flyboy, sounds like you had a good ‘guy’ day. And thanks for that video, it made a tired old man grin.
Dicey, if you ever contact them, let me know, I’ll put in a good word or three.
Cupcakes, enjoy your time. Been to Greece for work on several occasions, once got to visit the Orthodox monastery in Meteora, a really special place.
Cookie, glad your FLA friends are OK.
FCM, glad SIL is home, but sounds like someone is unimpressed with US Medical Care… And I like the afghan.
BBBoo, the Boo is strong is that one…
Sticky Buns. nice rings and canine, but what are the Mickey and Goofy things behind them?
red, put me down as another honorary Mumpet fancier.
nellie, know what you mean; I moved 8-10 times before settling into this place and haven’t considered moving in 20+ years, but that day may be coming for me sooner or later (looking at 2026-27). And I went to one of my favorite You Tube channels and yep, she had groomed a Leonburger…handsome dog, but would be a lot for anyone to handle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPRGRkjzav0
Not a massive expert, but either it was cars that were not needed for the moment sitting on a siding or part of a train that was dealing with one product only…might be oil, might have been something else. Usually these are set contracts between the producer/user of the product and the railroads. And yeah, there are some things that need 200 tanker cars.
doggio, must have been a fierce crayon…
Think I am caught up, apologies to anyone I missed, beginning to really feel the active day now so ealry bed-time is likely. Take care all.
You could google how to use your phone as a remote. There are apps for that. That and check the batteries in the remote.
Nice afghan Moooooom!
