Omnibus College Football Thread 2021-22

Its Colorados fault if they lose especially how well they played in the 1st half but didnt score.

I like this PAC-12 in 2021. They’re playing some damn good football. Guess they’re kinda tired of hearing about the ACC, SEC, and BIG. And they’re not folding the tent like the Big 12

Washington v Michigan is next on the table followed by Stanford at USC. Great day for football.

Oh it sure is, man. And I’m gonna drink some Lagunitas in honor of the Left Coast! I doubt I’ll stay up late enough to watch the USC-Stanford game but will definitely switch over to Washington-Michigan

Bummer. The Buffs got gigged. They put up a fight though.

:beers: and maybe some :peanuts: and :poultry_leg:

Wondering it Michigan is for real or if U-Dub is just severely overrated this year.

(Yes, I know this is classless, but I have a dark sense of humor)

Somewhere, the ghost of Clayton Williams is hovering over Texas and saying “Well, I hope he (Sarkisian) don’t go back to drinkin.

LSU is ‘winning’ against McNeese but it’s clear that they are in a world of trouble, and for the last reason anyone would expect: they can’t run the football. This is the school that produces RB prospect after prospect and they can’t run the ball. I hope they fire Orgeron. He had nothing to do with their national championship; he just was smart enough to know that he inherited good coaches and players and didn’t fuck it up. Ever since winning the title he’s been bottling and drinking his own piss and confusing it with draft beer.

OK, you’ve got to watch this.

At the Miami game, a cat was hanging by one paw from the second deck and fell. Fans below caught it in an American flag.

One reason why I hate these mega conferences is that they make for unbalanced schedules. Iowa is at least a top 10 school but they dont play Ohio St or Michigan this year. This is ridiculous.

Conferences should be no bigger than 10 teams/8 conference games with one rotating miss a year except rivalry games. Have 8 10 team conferences with the champs moving into the Championship tourney. The traditional bowls can survive to make their own bowl games.

I love me some cat so this was a great moment. Were it not for the 9/11 remembrances that flag might not have been there to save kitty.

You guys, BYU might actually snap their 9-game losing streak to Utah in the Holy War. They’re up 23-17 with 9 minutes left in the fourth quarter.

What a great name for a rivalry. Stanford is beating USC 35-13 and USC is beating USC with their penalties and dropped passes. Watching USC lose can make the darkest day full of rainbows and flowers.

It damn near did. Notre Dame held on, 32-29. As it was, Toledo became the first Mid-American Conference team to lead Notre Dame at halftime.

All three of my teams won yesterday: Indiana, Kent State, and Old Dominion.

Good question! I tweeted the Elias Sports Bureau for an answer. Remind me in a few days and I’ll see if they replied.

I saw that - that was wild

(Bolding mine)

I’m not quite sure why you made the bolded statement. Granted, the Big 12 hasn’t exactly been stellar in the first two weeks against lesser opponents, and they have no marquee victories. They are 0-1 against the SEC and 0-2 against the Big 10. The Pac-12 is 1-1 against the SEC and 1-2 against the Big 10, with a huge win by Oregon over Ohio State. Overall, however, the Big 12 is 16-4, while the Pac-12 is 12-12. And the Big 12 is 2-0 against the Pac-12.

It was the absolute lowest moment in 50 years for FSU football last night.

Norvell has at least owned the loss, but this is unacceptable. This team has always had problems with a fluke loss, but it’s usually to a Wake Forest or some team that caught them napping. But not to a FCS school scheduling a money game.

Two problems with this. First, one of the reasons CFP exists is to make sure that the occasional Boise State has the opportunity to get into the tournament; your method restricts it to the 80 schools in the “top conferences.” Second, the sports world has had the “What happens if the #1 and #2 teams are in the same conference?” conversation about 50 years ago, which is why the NCAA started letting “at-large” teams into the men’s basketball tournament.
