Omnibus Religious Fucks in the NEWS

Speaking of him, it’s the aftermath of a hurricane, so it’s time for the media to begin acting like the sun shines out of this chucklefuck’s every orifice. And look who he’s palling around with now:

A very heart-worming story. And no, that’s not a typo.

The headquarters for Samaritan’s Purse is located in Boone, North Carolina, which has sustained quite a bit of storm damage. The SP website referred to Trump as “President Donald Trump…” (Bet they wouldn’t describe Clinton, Bush v. 2.0, or Obama that way.)

There are two fairly high-profile stories in the news right now about pastors “abusing” children in their flock. In one case, the church was initially not named in the news, because one of the victims was the pastor’s own daughter. Another girl at that church actually had his baby!

Maybe they met in semenary?

(I’ll show myself out)

My home roulette wheel decided this is the correct thread for this bit of news. (The link goes to AOL.)

Tens of thousands of evangelical Christians gathered on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on Saturday to pray for America’s atonement and for Donald Trump’s return to the White House.

If you can stomach it, there’s more at the link.

They need to have the nation atone for putting him there in the first place.

Saturday? Was that some kind of Jewish Holy Day?

Organizers chose to hold the event on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in Judaism, because it is a day to atone for sin.

Of course, I thought Bible 1.0 was no longer relevant with this crowd upon the introduction of 2.0.

Hard-line christian types like to try to fuck with Jews howsoever they can.

Just like my evangelical Christian relatives showing off their “Seder meal” on Facebook. (They held this on their own; they weren’t invited into the home of an actual Jewish person.)

And my fundamentalist Catholic father tried to cast the Easter dinner I hosted as being a seder. I had to point out to him that ham was a rather untraditional main course for a seder.

My old church, which is Episcopalian, held a “seder” one year, although I didn’t attend. (I had just moved back to town.) It wasn’t really kosher, but they did have roast lamb, bitter herbs, etc., prepared in the church’s kitchen.

(On a lighter note, I was reading a magazine article about the Beastie Boys, and during the interviews, they went to Graceland. One of the Boys asked the guide, “Was Elvis Jewish?” The guide said, “Elvis studied many religions, but he was Assembly of God.” Mr. BB replied, “Oh, he looked to me like he attended a lot of seders.”) Rimshot!

Back to our regularly scheduled programming: Controversial “pastor” Steven Anderson, who along with his wife has been accused of serious abuse by the several-oldest of his 12 children, did something serious enough to get him admitted to inpatient psychiatric treatment. Exact details are sketchy, but here’s a link. Unfortunately, at least one of those kids appears to be a big chip off the old block, regarding his beliefs, but maybe it’s because he’s never been exposed to anything else.

My own Christianity is no secret here on the board, but I really like this man’s YouTube channel. I always learn something from his videos.

In high school, I went to a seder dinner at a friend’s house. But they were Jewish.

Was this little public school event in Louisiana reported, where the kids were told they were going to a job fair but were actually taken to a religious event that had things you wouldn’t even see at your typical revival meeting?

I like him too. Did you see him on Jeopardy?

My favorite is the part where the district argues that it’s OK for them to discriminate based on sex because they say that discrimination isn’t allowed.

Mine is the illegal gathering of personal information in the guise of “voting”.

Here’s an interesting tidbit from Wikipedia about that individual (bolding mine):

Anderson operates a website titled True Sons of Liberty where he recommends elimination of the Internal Revenue Service, the Federal Reserve Bank, the Social Security Administration, and child protective services.

So the time they think America was truly great was the 19th century. Maybe they’d like to re-fight the Civil War.

No doubt they intend to win it this time.
