It is written in reality.
I mean, if we’re talking about religious symbols on the moon, half the time I’d say the Muslims beat them to it.
Matthew 26:11, but I prefer the Jesus Christ Superstar version:
Surely you’re not saying we have the resources to save the poor from their lot? There will be poor always, pathetically struggling, look at the good things you’ve got! Think while you still have me, move while you still see me. You’ll be lost and you’ll be sorry when I’m gone.
Anyone want to chip in to launch a pasta colander at the moon and beat them to it? ChatGPT says it will cost us between $100k and $50M. I figure a few dents won’t hurt so we can keep costs under control.
I would donate a 500g pack of spaghetti from Aldi for the endeavor, if that’s not too much of a payload…
Hmmm, I can see a few holes in this plan …
It does strain credulity.
It’s be waaaaay cool if we could easily do an upside-down crucifix on a blood moon! Blare “Rainin’ Blood”… Hey. Education on possibilities!
Good one!
It really is.
Sending a missile to the moon to blow up something irritating there is cheaper than landing something there.
Not that I’m suggesting anything, of course.
I have since discovered that the person who initiated the whole cross on the moon thing lives in my city. So far, the media has ignored it.
This is true, but there are complications for classified works. They’re still public domain, but have restricted distribution.
True, but nothing from the Hubble is classified. Nor any other NASA mission: They might launch DOD or CIA payloads sometimes, but those missions aren’t operated by NASA in any way other than launching them into the specified orbit.
Regarding that photo of the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro seeming to hold up the full moon, I found that it was taken by a Brazilian photographer named Leonardo Sens, who spent several years trying to achieve it. (Cite from The Daily Mail.)
And here is the Instagram page for the photographer.
That is a bloody good reason to name him and give him credit for his work. Same for all the other pictures in the Religious Fucks’ page.
Is the idea that this cross would be visible from Earth?
Their website includes a short MP4 of a cross unfolding from a lander on the surface, so I don’t think they expect it to be visible from Earth.
Oh man, I was picturing something equivalent to Chairface Chippendale’s plan to write his name on the moon. I was imagining a cross 2000 miles on the long side.
I love that for the rest of that series, every time you saw the night sky you’d see “CHA” on the moon.
