You just know some enterprising asshole is going to run with the idea, and soon we’ll see that picture with the cross at the end of the CHA, followed by GPT.
Judging from how may evangelical churches call themselves a chapel, I would imagine they don’t like the term megachurch.
Seriously, to most people a chapel is a small church-like religious space, usually adjunct to something else. Airports, hospitals, and schools have chapels. A really big church like a cathedral may have a chapel or two in the basement.
But evangelicals seem to love calling some of their really BIG churches “chapels” for some reason. An appearance of modesty? A dig at large non-evangelical churches (Catholic churches tend to be large)?
But then there’s the Sistine Chapel.
I think that formally, a chapel is just a worship space. Most churches have one (which does not take up the whole church, since there might also be a vestry, a sacristy, a rectory, a hall, etc.), but a larger church might have multiple.
But I’m guessing that for the megachurches, it’s a pretext of modesty.
So apparently it’s a thing now for assholes to preach on airplanes. Because their evangelical belief that a Christian must bring Christianity to as many people as possible overcomes any residual empathy that people don’t want pretty much anything forced on them while they’re locked in a metal tube for hours.
I also see a element of fishing for “persecution” if an aircrew does tell them to (please) shut up and sit down.

What gets me is the absolute arrogance when they act like there’s people who have never heard of Jesus.
I remember Chick Tracts: “Golly! I never heard of that there Jesus feller before! He sounds like a cool dude!”
Hey, as long as they’re willing to listen to me tell them about my dream where I was a substitute Jesus first.
Did you have pronouncing all of the names on the roll call? Because Jesus has a lot of folks on his roster.
Hehe, if you’re meaning me, nah. The dream was really vague on what the responsibilities of substitute Jesus were or how they arrived at the conclusion that it was somehow my turn. Everyone was asking me if I was going to “call it”, meaning whether I was going to trigger armageddon (or the eschaton if you prefer).
In the dream, I also had a cell phone that I was pretty sure was hacked, and I worked a shitty job in a data center that was a lot like my job in a data center about a decade ago. This job was even worse than that one, though.

Truly, He did suffer for our sins.
This all comes shortly after one of the monks apparently drowned himself after the founder disavowed Vatican II and three others “escaped” their island hermitage (AFAIK, the monastery are the only inhabitants of the island, one of the smaller Orkneys) on a clandestine late-night sailing because they couldn’t countenance the heresy.
Tradcath stuff is WEIRD.
This is oddly reminiscent of a 1973 TV movie titled Catholics. In the 21st century, a bunch of Tradcaths on a little island off the coast of Ireland are visited by a Vatican emissary. They argue and argue. Anybody else remember seeing that?
I resemble that remark! No Slack for you!
The Bob giveth, the Bob apparently also taketh appropriate deductions.
Only until the Tick closes up the C, and Omnipotus takes a bite out of the moon.
Last night, I learned about the existence of a group whose goal is to put a cross on the moon.
Don’t these people know that the Mormons have already enrolled everyone in the universe in their church?

I remember when it was on, but didn’t watch it. I grew up Catholic, and by that time I wanted no contact with churchy stuff at all.
I vaguely recall a movie like that, it had Martin Sheen in it… ITV movie from 70s but set in the year 2000.
Yeah, I remember Martin Sheen, too.
Yes I saw that movie. Didn’t their leader give in at the end? With a look of grief on his face?
