One booze forever.

I was perusing the liquor cabinet, cogitating the selection available to my taste buds. The thought struck me…if I could only have one of these, for the rest of my life, which one would I pick? Interesting problem. I think, at this point in my life, I would chose:
Old Weller Antique

Although tomorrow I might choose Highland Park 18.

What’s your choice?

Guinness.

I’d choose a rum, not too light, not too dark. It’s vesatile enough to make lots of different drinks.

Probably something like Bacardi Anejo but I’m sure the resident rum connoisseurs will quickly put me in my place

Realistically, I’d have to say rum of some sort. Any of the other base liquors would get really old really fast. If beer were an option, I’d choose it. Choosing the beer would be quite difficult. At the moment, I’d have to go with Stella Artois since it’s my new favorite.

Gah!

Eleusis eluded me.

Nice choice of rum BTW.

Well after my Great Gin Experiment, I can say with absolute certainty that I can live off of Hendrick’s the rest of my life…if only I could find someplace closer than freakin’ Glendale to buy it.

Ditto.

Rum. Mount Gay Extra Old. Very fine stuff.

Carolans irish cream. Not Baileys. Carolans has a little more up-front taste of the irish whiskey, whereas Baileys is a bit creamier. I prefer the extra little bite of the Carolans.

I could sip a rocks glass a night for the rest of my life and be a happy man. And it also does a wonderful job of sweetening up a coffee if I want something hot. Also fun for a variation on cream or milk in baking.

Bass ale.

Yuengling Lager

Pouilly Fumé.

You should talk to Airman Doors. He loves him that Yeungling.

Some nice fairly sweet wine, I think. Possibly a Raspberry or Apple. You’d be surprised with how that goes down. Most people who put on airs think I’m crazy for liking fruit wines but boy I sure do.

If I had to choose a ‘hard’ drink (which I think I probably haven’t had any in 20 years) I’d probably choose rum as well because it can be smooth enough to get the job done right.

A really top-quality bourbon- I’m thinking Woodford Reserve, or the ultra select one-batch-per-year stuff you have to order through specialist liquor merchants.

For beer? Tough choice. IMO, there’s nothing like a Toohey’s New after a hard day of work, but for Beer-Wankery, I’d probably go with Tsingtao, or maybe an Tetley’s Ale.

One of the advantages of being an Alcohol snob is I never have to share, since no-one I know likes fine alcoholic drinks- VB beer and Jim Beam/Bundy Rum is about as sophisticated as they get.

Philistines…

I’m going to assume that by “booze” you mean the hard stuff. I don’t even want to contemplate life without wine or beer.

Much as I would miss my bourbon, Irish, and rum, I’d have to go with **gin. **

I’d hate to give up Martinis, and there isn’t much that could beat a well-made Tom Collins on a hot summer afternoon.

Polish Pure Spirit for expediency.

Either Jameson (whisky) or Tuborg (beer). They’re the only alcohol I drink on anything resembling a regular basis, anyway.

Why not vodka? It mixes with practically anything and everything.

My strategy would be to choose one of these and have 4 of my drinking buddies choose the other 4, and we would set up a barter system.

That’s cheating, though, I guess. I reckon I’ll choose Yuengling as my one drink. That’s mostly what I do, anyway.

Hennessy. It’s good before dinner, after dinner, even during dinner with soda and a rock or two, you can make cold or hot punches, sidecars, cook with it, use it to start signal fires and small engines…gee, what can’t you do with it?
