Ooooh, looky, it's the second annual springy MMP!

Blergh. Up caffeinating, off to work.

What he said…

Ditto, minus the caffeination - that comes later.

So. Sleepy! Need. Caffiene.

gt, I now have serious garden envy, especially of the shade garden. I will have to save those pix for reference so that I have something to aspire to when we finally get around to fixing up the backyard.

I have a love/hate relationship with shade gardens… on the one hand, they can be very lush and soothing with ferns and mosses and the like, but they’re never as showy as their sun and part-sun cousins.

In other garden news… We has blossoms on our peach trees! See? Last year they were hit with a really bad case of leaf curl thanks to the neglect of the previous owner, though one of the trees still managed to produce one teensy peach (which was promptly snagged by a squirrel and left half eaten beside the back door… apparently our local wildlife are inconsiderate spoiled brats)

Why is it Monday already? I want to go back to bed. Sniff.

Mahna your pics are always so pretty.

Thank the gods for the invention of coffee. What did people do before this existed?

Nice pics everyone.

Where’s my damn coffee?

Things I did this weekend, not necessarily in chronological order:

  • Mowed the half of the yard that needed it;

  • Rototilled my imminent garden, the ruts in the sandpatch where the morons keep driving their trucks, and the flower beds that will be planted when I do my garden;

  • Planted a buttloda of grass, with another buttload to come;

  • Took one rescue call for a month old baby with breathing problems. The real problem was inexperienced parents. The kid was fine (thank goodness)

  • Judged a barbeque contest. Guess what I’m having for lunch most of this week…

  • The usual buttloads of laundry and dishes;

  • The usual trip to the dump.

GT, Mahna[sup]2[/sup], my apple trees have bloomed and gone, and the peecan tree is warming up to attack me with catkins soon. Falling nuts are fine, but the catkins leave a real mess.

Morning, all. Blergh indeed. Caffeination in progress here, too. Pronouns gone walkabout.

It’s my own fault, though. Papa Tigs made it through the first overtime period of the Stars and Sharks game, then had to give up and go to bed. I figured as long as I was working well, I’d stay up a bit longer and watch the rest of the game for him. Two and a half overtimes later, Dallas finally won. Way to play 2-1/3 games nonstop there, guys. Oy. Papa Tigs had better appreciate my sacrifice!

Back to caffeination.

Hi, everybody! Beautiful garden, GT! Down here it’s almost summer. We had one last cool front, but this coming weekend is supposed to be muggy and low 90’s.

I got lazy yesterday and didn’t get more flowers to plant around my birdbath in the backyard. The front yard is looking great! Mr Rebo mowed the new grass for the first time and it looks lovely. My barrel of flowers and one of my two hanging baskets of petunias are looking good. The other one I let get dry :(, but it has two blooms on it again, and is coming back.

This morning absolutely sucked. We are supposed to have corporate head shots done today. :rolleyes: We are required to dress up and wear a suit or jacket. I do not own a suit, at least not work appropriate. So I get all dressed up, with my pinstripe black pants and white shirt. I’m ready to leave the house, and I go to the coat closet to get my (one and only) black jacket. It’s not there. I go to my clothes closet. It’s not there. I searched the floors of both closets, my Dad’s closet, my husband’s closet…it’s nowhere to be found! By now I’m running late. I ended up changing into brown pants with a brown corduroy jacket. Blech. Not dressy enough. :frowning:

Oh well.

Gah, I am overly-caffinated, as I was up until four and then back up at seven thirty working on my damn papers that are due today, and have been chugging coffee and Dr. Pepper to compensate. Need a small break to calm my racing thoughts and jittery typing fingers.

Great OP, gt. From what I can gather, spring is mostly done sprung and gone here in Florida, although I will admit freely that I’ve not had time to stop and sniff the flowers as of late. My favorite jacaranda tree (not my jacaranda, just a very big and beautiful one that resides in the yard of a historical home over near where my family lives) did not blossom as well this year as it has previously. It has already started dropping its blossoms, even though they came in quite sparsely this year. And my grandmother told me yesterday that I’d somehow managed to miss seeing her amaryllis bloom this year. :frowning:

Okay, enough of that, back to work. Pray for me, Mumpers, for my papers are due at 5:00 and I fear I won’t make it. Why do I do this to myself Every. Damn. Semester?

Rebo, I think your jacket is hiding in the same inter-dimensional wormhole that swallowed my brown tights this morning. I could’ve sworn I saw them in my sock drawer just yesterday, but they were nowhere to be found when I went looking this morning. Grrrr.

VBob, I want a pecan tree. They’re my favouritest nuts in the whole world, and they cold a bloody fortune at the store, and the trees are quite pretty despite the habit of dropping nuts on your head. Unfortunately, they don’t do well up here in Toronto… we’re in Zone 5, so technically they should grow fine up here, but I think our winters are too cold and our summers are too short for a pampered Southern Belle like the pecan.

Coffee is not agreeing with my tummy today. Blargh. :frowning:

Spring is just getting started here. The grass turned green a week or so ago; the trees are just starting to bud; and there are no flowers yet. :frowning: Hopefully soon! I want to see all the pretty trees like the ones in gt’s pics.

**KeithT **got the guest bathroom painted yesterday. It’s a dark taupe color, which I really like but it doesn’t match the countertop around the sink as much as I’d hoped. I guess we should have gone with a yellower taupe. Oh well.

Boy, there are a lot of :frowning: 's in the last 3 or so posts! I think the MMP needs some caffeine! And some hugs too.

It’s been spring here for about a month. It’s getting into “safe to wash the car again” territory–at least pollenwise. Rainwise we’ve got a ways to go. Speaking of the rain, I forgot how easy we got off last year with the mosquitoes. Now that it’s been raining again we in Pine Tree Central are all due for involuntary blood donations. Where’s my mosquito repellent? digs through house

And where’s my flash drive? This is why I have my thesis/comps work saved in three different places. One of those places is now missing. :mad:

I’ve got a contract to sign for the summer up in Archive Work and one more day (tomorrow) in Reference Work before I’m out of hours for this semester. :slight_smile: Movie Hostess is having her Master’s show tonight (she’s a textiles major) so I have something sociable to do. Last night I was weak and ordered a copy of Shaolin Dolemite. I almost got The Human Tornado as well, but I had that much self-control.

I need to wake up Complicated Roommate to see if he wants to celebrate his Mexican heritage with a trip to Really Good Mexican Restaurant. ¡Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

NO YOU DON’T. Their pollen is second only to black walnut trees in making the allergies worse. Tell you what, you can come to my dad’s house and help him pick up pecans in January. He’s got five trees and his back’s getting old.

Do they even grow in Canada?

One of KeithT’s best friends didn’t have her thesis backed up in multiple places, so when their house was broken into last winter and her backpack was stolen, she lost the whole thing! :eek: Major lesson in backing stuff up! I can’t imagine having to start over on something like that. Definitely back up all important files… OFF SITE!

I’ll second Spaz

Muppet, you want peecans? I got a freezer full of them, and 45 gallons yet to be shelled and cleraned. Once we figure out The Right Price[sup]tm[/sup], I can set you up…

Ack! It’s Cinco de Mayo! Break out the tequila!

(Not really. Just the thought of tequila makes me want to vomit. Bad experiences.)

It’s also National Cartoonists Day - Take A Cartoonist To Lunch!
