Mom’s already invited herself, I’ll be happy to volunteer for any visits abroad which happen to be required in that same period… maybe I should accept one of those hooks I keep getting, to work for this same client in this same project, but as part of our Bilbao-based team. Bilbao does not have better weather than Mom’s 
and that team will have trips abroad.
I don’t have a problem with people waking up at 5pm. I do have a problem with either them or our managers expecting me to stay awake and at work after 5pm, though. If they can do that, I ought’a be able to come in at 5am and require them to be here, brewing coffee (or, in my case, cocoa) for both of us.
So… I just made a phone call to a friend that asked me to call him about 2 1/2 months ago. Considering that he’s trying to sell me car insurance, how rude am I? Incidentally, the reason that I remembered to call him now is because I’m sitting here waiting to deliver lunch to an agency that sells the same stuff that he does. I guess I could have called him sooner… but the bottom line is that I didn’t. And also that I don’t like talking on the phone (which is why my message to him just now is that he can return my call but I respond much better/quicker to email).

I’m so bored that I’m considering venturing into the Pit. I’ve already been everywhere else (except Great Debates…there is no such thing as that much boredom).
As people are cleaning out their desks they are leaving all sorts of interesting things behind, like the Star Trek TNG Triazzle (puzzle) that I just solved. It didn’t take nearly as long as I hoped it would.
Oh, I just had a scary thought: what if I can’t access the SDMB from my new job?!? :eek:

Home. Tahred - I had a horrible time falling asleep last night and I was up at 4. Ick.
Gonna bake some punkin muffins, then figger out what we should eat for supper. It’s a recipe from Allrecipes.com and it just cracks me up. People give it 4 and 5 stars, but write “I used this instead of that and half as much of the other plus I added something totally bizarre and my family just loved it!!” No, what you did was create an entirely new recipe. Submit it as such! Sheesh.
Anyway, I’m taking the basic recipe, halving the amount of sugar because 4 cups for 3 dozen is way too much. I’m also combining whole wheat with white flour because that makes sense to me. But chocolate chips and flax seeds and cranberries? I think not…
I’ll let you know how they come out.
There’s a moron at work who knows everything about everything and she insisted that when the govt puts you on furlough, you still get paid, you just don’t have to come in. Um, and precisely how does that accomplish anything? We’re caught up in the Continuing Resolution silliness, so except for salaries, we have no money, so no travel, no purchases, no training, nothing. Next step would be furlough, which is forced leave without pay. Except, no, Ms Know-It-All insists the savings come from not having to heat and light the buildings while we all stay home. Because, of course, utilities cost so much more than salaries for 500 people. :rolleyes: I need to just ignore her stupid self.
Oh, she also insists the govt cannot do a RIF. Despite the fact that I was at a command that did have a RIF and about 200 people lost their jobs. No, the govt can’t do that. headdesk

Howdy Y’all! Been a bizzy bear today. I took Stang for his checkup/oil change, then got him all washed and purtified. I have been to the grocery sto’ (three of 'em, to get the Wednesday specials at all three since there was a buy three limit I hit all of 'em), did a buncha laundry and am about to get dindin ready.
We’re havin’ Evensong (google it) at the church house tonight with the Methodist Church from down the road. Evensong is a nice service so I’m lookin’ forward to that. Lots of nice music. I’m even draggin’ OYKW along.
Yays, boos, hugs, trouts, chitlins, noogies, wedgies, smooches, how you doin’s as needed.
And Methodists are nice too.

The punkin muffins smell yum. **FCD **is on his second. I just came back from Bad Chinese, so I’m too stuffed, but I’ll have one later. If they’re good, I’ll pass on my modifications to the recipe.
Daughter took dad’s truck this evening. A coworker of a friend of hers needs to empty his late mom’s house TONIGHT. So friend is getting a bed, a TV, and some dishes, and daughter is getting a table with chairs and a glider/rocker. This is the first time she’s driven the truck - it’s a monster. Here’s hoping she doesn’t trash it… :eek:
I’ve decided I’m not going in tomorrow. My coughing is getting bad again, and my throat is killing me. Plus I was going to be leaving early anyway to meet the furnace guy. So I’ll send the boss an email tonight and that’ll cover that. I hate being sick. Looks like it’ll be a nyquil night again. That should help me sleep.

Added the Scrabble idea to the spreadsheet. (Oh and to those who commented; it took maybe 5 minutes, so…not a big deal; and no, my cupboard contents are NOT pathalogically organized. 
I was NOT bored at work today. Worked on my presentation for tomorrow (even finished it) Need to look it over and add notes and run through it, still. I’m pretty sure I’ve got two hours’ worth of material in there, but need to make sure.

Today I remembered why I started going to the Anarchist Coffeeshop so much last fall/winter–the freaking old people tourists who all have a bad case of CHS*. I walked there after I got off work (from home–Culinary Boy needed the car after I got off irk) and stupidly got a double Americano which I then proceeded to dump waaaaaayyyy too much cinnamon into. I decided to make the best of it and pretend I was drinking spice coffee from the Dune series. Now I am Highly Caffienated.

Evensong was magnificent! The combined choirs of both churches were awesome. Really beautiful music. Plus the offering from the service is going to the mission trip to the DR. I ushed tonight so I got to count up the offering. $483.00! WOOHOO! Good Evensong!

Don’t know why this reminds me but, I’ve got this friend’s 16 year old daughter as a friend on fb and her new thing has been to start every status update and picture caption with the words “He’s my everything <3” which are, of course, referring to her boyfriend. Can we all say “oh brother.” :rolleyes: Makes me gag every time that I see it.
In other news I’m feeling sort of ick. I don’t suppose it has anything to do with a dinner consisting of rice, potato chips, special dark kisses, cookie dough, and pomegranate 7up diet pop?

I think I need a standard phrase for all my facebook updates, too. It seems so…words fail me. Of course most of my updates start with something like: “Cool photo:” So maybe I already have a catch phrase.
Speaking of cool stuff. Talk of the Nation was broadcasting from Columbus today and they did a segment on food trucks. It made me hungry.
Am considering crawling into bed because I need to get up early tomorrow.
