OP Ideas for the MMP

:smack::smack::smack:

ETA: I don’t know what’s worse, getting suckered by a zombie thread, or the idea I potentially missed a major Swampus announcement.

Oh, and first on the page!

Cool!
gt - book her a Monday, k?

MMP IDEA:
What’s the one thing you look forward to each week (the weekend or end of yuor work week doesn’t count)?

Idea added…we now have 20 OP ideas stored.

Off to sleepy bye.

Hugs.

Also off to bed. Getting to an 8 AM all-cast call at the Faire means getting up extra-early.

Hopefully no brats, err, sparkling unique snowflake children, try to whack me again.

Conversation yesterday:

Mom: “… and on Friday… on Friday you have lunch here, right?”
Me: “Or not, it’s the day I often go somewhere to take advantage of the afternoon off, we could meet in Seville, or you’re wherever and I’m wherever.”
Mom: “How do you cook pasta?”
Me: “Sorry?”
Mom: “How do you cook pasta? Since you’re having lunch here on Friday.”
Me: “Well, I didn’t know I was having lunch here on Friday, but also, there isn’t a specific way I cook pasta.”
Mom: “What pasta do you cook?”
Me: “Any of the half a dozen kinds in the house.”
Mom: “ So what do you add to it?”
Me: “Whatever I feel like adding to it. Mom, asking ‘how do you cook pasta’ is like asking ‘how do you cook rice’, it just doesn’t make sense!”
Mom: “Oh. OK. So I’ll cook whatever pasta that you have in the house, using ingredients in the house.” assaults the kitchen, to see what’s there

My brain hurts.

A couple of things…

  1. I think I forgot to give Annie another hug yesterday… {{{Annie and Mr. Onimous}}}

  2. Anyone else been following the rescue operation in Chile? Amazing… Right up there with Apollo 13 and Entebbe in the Hall of Fame of Rescue Operations. Congratulations to all involved (and of course especially to the miners. If there were a cat down there, it would only have about 4 lives left now!)

[/driveby]

And congratulations also to that guy from [del]OIT[/del] (uhm, what’s OIT called in English? google is your friend ah.) ILO, who by the way happens to be Chilean, who was on TV last night saying “let us not forget that this rescue should not have been needed in the first place.”

It’s a pity the blow-my-ass execs who opt for unsafe work conditions are never the people who get trapped.

Oh, fully agreed… There’s a saying in the Israeli Military (and by extension in Hebrew in general) that goes roughly: “When the Rank and File get citations, it means the Brass screwed up.”
But I really think that’s an issue for the future; not today

Morning. I’m up, caffeinated, off to irk. Booster Club board meeting tonight, and we’ll stay and watch the hockey game afterwords.

gt, the 3 most common words in my Facebook updates are “Beer”, “Gordie”, and “hockey”

I’ve been following it too. It’s amazing that everything went so smoothly. Spent last night watching the number of rescued miners go up. Glad this morning to read that all the rescue team made it out and the hole has been capped. Found this thoughtful article on why the rescue was so successful.

I hope they’re really serious about mining safety reforms, too. It seems to be the most awful industry everywhere.

Up…need to get ready for my presentation this afternoon. Such fun.

Back later.

Good Mornin’ Y’all. Up and caffienatin’. Yahd werk on deck for today. Woo and Hoo huh.

BBBobbio don’t worry about missin’ major events in my life as I tend to talk about 'em in BIG BOLD LETTERS

Need more caffiene and some brekkies.

Later Y’all!

Good morning!

I watched the last few miners get rescued last night. Amazing, indeed!

I’m looking forward to this Saturday. We’re going to The Needville Harvest Fest. Some friends of ours are entering the BBQ cook-off. Looks like a beautiful cool weekend and lots of fun to be had!

Hugs and kisses, trouts and chitlins…

(That oughta be a country song.)

'tought’a include grits, too.

There’s days you shouldn’ta gotten out of bed and days you’re not sure you did. I’m having the second kind. The two braincells which are awake swear I’m out of bed, but the rest is still in z-mode. I’ve had a whole liter of Coke, but other than several trips to the bathroom (I’m convinced it’s true that thing isn’t good for hydration: it makes me pee like nobody’s business) there have been no noticeable results.

Is it quit o’clockish yet? I’m one of those weirdos who refuse to stand at the gates, waiting for o’clock to rush out in an avalanche of carding and taking out the car keys…
Oh, I don’t know if I mentioned it, but MaleBoss left (he’s now the Head of Finance for a multinational founded in Sweden but whose HQ is now in Madrid - that company’s “our story” webpage is almost culebrón-like in its complexity); FemaleBoss was offered his job, but pointed out that she happens to be a mite pregnant, something the offerer wasn’t aware of. After some thought, she’s been re-offered the promotion and accepted. Good for her and good for the team, she’s a good boss.

I was just looking up amounts of caffeine in various drinks, and came across this. You choose your drink, enter your weight, and find out how many drinks you’d need to kill yourself.

For example: me, 305 pounds: it would take 562.60 bottles of Ale-8-One to knock me slap dead. I think my kidneys would be gone WAY before that.

It would take 417.08 cans of Diet Pepsi to kill me.

I’m bored again today. And I’ll be bored tomorrow, until the 2pm “turn in your badges” time. I do have a fun debriefing to attend at 1pm today, and at various times today and tomorrow I’ll be helping to prepare a proposal, but mostly I’m just bored. I brought in tote bags today and have packed up 95% of my desk stuff (awards, mugs, etc.); the last 5% will leave with me tomorrow (iPod speakers, etc.).

I’m looking forward to tomorrow night: I’m going to one of my favorite jazz places in DC to see/hear Denise Thimes, who will be visiting from St. Louis. I saw her for the first time a few months ago, and she is well worth seeing again! Other than that I have no plans for the weekend, which is ok by me.

Home. Sick. <moan, whine, whimper> Last night, the coughing hurt all the way down into my chest. Today, it’s mostly just in my throat, plus I’m just whipped overall. I ran to the store to get some soup and medicinal ice cream, and shortly, I’m going to crash in front of the TV with a bowl of soup and crackers.

Furnace/air conditioning guy is supposed to come today, but it’s raining. I hope that won’t affect his check out procedures. Last Nov, they couldn’t test the a/c because of the temp and the rain. Fingers crossed that the rain today won’t matter.

That’s all for now. I need to veg for a while. Don’t wanna know how much caffeine will kill me. I figure if the 1 big gulp a day isn’t doing it, I’m good.

Seein’ how I drink tap water throughout the day, I would die of water poisoning or plain old drowning before the included caffeine would do me in.

I’ve never posted in the MMP because I’ve never known what it was about. This seems like a good time to ask.

Yay! We’ve been Attacked!

Welcome. As far as I can see, this is just a bunch of crazy, loving people who get together and have fun. In my opinion, it’s the closest thing I’ve seen to Callahans Crosstime Saloon. Everyone shares wonderful and totally random things about their day or their lives, and we share in the good times and the bad. I’m one of the newest people, so I’ve probably missed a few things.

And Swampy likes to talk about <snerk> butts </snerk>. A lot.
