I’m in the Tampa Bay area too. I haven’t posted much lately, but plan on remedying that. Anyway, I’d be willing to drive as far north as Orlando. I’m available 5/12 or 5/26. I’ll be in Vega$ on the 18th.
I think the attendance list is a little larger than that, Autolycus. But we still have no suggestions about food or entertainment and I refuse to volunteer to be either/or.

I have no idea whether Acid Lamp and I will be able to attend. This month is going to be crazy for our families: we’re moving on the 15th, my older brother may have his house sold by the end of the month and moving to NC, and my mom will be meeting my future in-laws somewhere in between, so I have no clue when all this is going to happen. I’ll give you a better idea of what’s going on in a week or so.

I’d totally have preferred a Friday after-workish, but it occurs to me that lots o’ youse will be driving up from Parts Unknown, so I’ll suck it up.
Are we going with something barlike? Or more restauranty?
Maybe begin with a restaurant and end with something bar-like?

So. Where are we on this? It appears to be on the weekend of Friday the 19th 0r Saturday the 20th. Some have noted the difficult attending a Friday gathering due to driving time following work. I kinda lean towards Fri. due to the fact that other weekend plans/commitments would be less disrupted. If the plan was to meet around 6:30 and remain for several hours then perhaps it could be workable (work-able…get it?)
If not Fri. then Sat. late afternoon or evening would be fine. I like these potential dates because our own CaliDoper Rick will be here in Central Florida and likely to attend. I am no longer familiar with downtown Orlando meeting spots as I rarely get down there. I will ask some friends for recommendations for a place with affordable meals, quiet enough to hear each other speak, and a full bar. I’ll try to post some ideas a bit later.

As for a nice place to congregate with an amazing selection of restaurants, bars, and shops, I nominate Park Ave in Winter Park. For lunch, we can have Persian, Sushi, American bistro, Italian, French, Thai, or 7-11 hotdogs 
There are wine bars, dive bars, and sports bars all within walking distance.
Winter Park is easy to find. It’s 5 miles down Orange Ave from Downtown Orlando. Park Ave is the main street and it’s right in front of Rollins College.
I’ll admit I’m biased b/c I’m from this area, but I do think it’s a great hang-out spot. The only thing one cant do is the dance/clubbing scene, but I’m guessing that’s not what people wanna do?
I think it’s going to have to be Saturday the 19th, many of us are coming from the Tampa area and if we tried to leave after work we wouldn’t be attending until 10pm.
So far the ideas posted by Autolycus sound good to me. Any way a few of us could carpool from Tampa?
I know Bambi is pretty close to me and Shibb too (but looks like you’ll be heading up on Friday afternoon, so no dice).

Saturday May 19 sounds great and I second Autolycus’ nomination for Park Avenue in Winter Park. So many choices… and it’s a fun place to hang out.
310 Park South is one of my favorite restaurants but Park Plaza Gardens, Spice and Luma area all right on that corner and all very good.
