She was in Nawfick Genital because it’s the only trauma center around; plus the wreck was in Suffolk.
She says she’ll never go back. If she’s got multiple compound fractures and a loop of intestine hanging out she’ll go to Pitt Memorial or home AMA before she goes back to NG.
I have more tales to tell of appalling patient care, but that will be Pitable.
Whew. I have almost filled the kiln with glaze-ready pieces. I need to glaze 3 or 4 more, but I was just too tired, so I’ll do them tomorrow right before firing.
I get to see **MamaTigs ** tomorrow - yay - and a few other assorted Dopers as we stroll among nature and stuff. **BibKitty ** is supposed to be there too - yay. I should probably take my camera.
**FCD ** has my cold, and it’s kicking his butt. I’m just about over it myself - just an occasional need for a tissue. finally. Scruffy is almost back to normal. She’s still a little off balance, but mostly she’s just about her old self. Life is good.
Oh, and yesterday I finally got my assignment for next week’s craft show. So that’s a relief. I’ve just got to figure out how I’m going to display my wares. And if I need my wheel. So much to do and hardly any time…
**Bobbio ** - hope the Mrs. is doing better.
Everyone else - hugs and smoochies for whatever reason. I’m pooped - I’m off to bed…
I have discovered I am a honey snob. I bought a bottle of clover honey a few months back, and while I really liked it I decided it was a bit too pricey, so the next bottle I bought was Country Delight. For the longest time I thought the funny taste in my tea had to do with the tea, but I finally figured it was the honey and today switched back to clover. Now I’m sitting with a cuppa spiced chai with milk and honey and feel that life is finally worth living.
We’re looking forward to seeing **FCM **tomorrow, too. Yay for MADDopes!
Papa Tigs finally commented on my hair about 15 minutes ago. He claims that he noticed it yesterday, but since he figured I’d be expecting a reaction, he wouldn’t give me one. Yeah, right, I don’t believe him either. But that’s over 24 hours from the time he first saw me to when he actually said anything. I’m impressed, in a horrified kind of way!
Did you finally get to eat, Tel? Can you talk to the boss about it again? Maybe now that tax season is over it would be OK for you to at least run out to get something edible?
Keep us updated on VWife’s progress, Bobbio. Why is it that being in hospitals is so bad for you?
I’ve had that happen to me with honey, also, Hank. Annoying, isn’t it?
Just saw you sneak in, BioTigs. I’m really really envious of the MAD trip tomorrow. It sounds like fun! Glad PapaT finally noticed the hair. Amazing how some men totally don’t see stuff like that.
Cheese guys, I goof off all afternoon, and I’m lost. Ah well, such is the MMP.
Anyway, I’m all a flutter. I got to answer my first ever sorta technical PC question here and ok, it’s a pretty simple one (and I got beat by 2 minutes, but still), but it’s got me feeling pretty Help Desk-y anyway.
Morning, each! I’m up and sitting here with a cup of tea wondering how to rouse 'im indoors from his pit 'cos we have to go out soon. Today we’re going to visit a Sikh Gurdwara in the depths of Handsworth…it’s the same temple where there was a very nasty stabbing a couple of weeks ago but we’re not worried about it, really, we’re not.
Should be fun, we get a tour of the temple and some background info/history from the elders and then we can have lunch in the Langar - it’ll be vegetarian but I’m sure 'im indoors will survive the experience. I’m looking forward to it, I’ve never been inside a Sikh temple in this country before, and there are some very impressive ones around here.
Afterwards we’ll be heading into town for the usual errands and then going back into the centre of Brum to meet a friend for beerverages and gossip.
Ellen, why don’t you hang on to Mrs Queen for a while longer? We don’t really have any use for her over here and she’s bound to enjoy the change of scenery. Did she bring Phil the Greek with her? If she did, watch out for any interviews he gives, he’s notorious for the most amazing gaffes.
VBob - continuing good wishes for Mrs Bob, hope she’s feeling a bit better today. She’ll be much better back at home with you running around after her!
That’s all for now, I have to go and find a headscarf for the purposes of temple-visiting…
Hey BooFae, I hope you found a pretty head scarf and that you enjoyed your visit to the Gurudwara and that langar was good as well. Interesting to experience a different religion. I’d love to go to a local Gurudwara but am afraid that I wouldn’t be able to get up from the floor once I got down there, my knees are that bad. Ah well, hope you enjoyed it and hopefully you heard some Kirtan too.
I am up early, caffeinating already. I’ll make a quick trip to my local Safeway this am and may go out later with my daughter, but we must be back in time for the yearly viewing of the Kentucky Derby. I haven’t kept up with the horses this year either! I need to check out the field to make my pick. I’ll admit that my pick is influenced by how handsome the horse looks to me, and I’m normally partial to reds although sleek blacks remind me of The Black Stallion (one of my favorite books as a child).
Bobbio, what a tale about the hospital! I was afraid it was Obici in Suffolk you were talking about but it’s even worse that it’s Norfolk General, cause isn’t that one of the biggest/busiest in the Tidewater area?! Scary! I hope that your wife will be well enought to come home today; she remains in my prayers.
One of my uncles just had heart bypass surgery at Norfolk General, and one of my cousins is undergoing chemo (for cervical cancer) there. Please keep my cousin in your thoughts and prayers, fellow MMPers; she’s 45 and has a 6 year old daughter. They were able to remove only 2 of 4 lymph nodes that were involved–they couldn’t get the others because of scar tissue; hopefully the chemo/radiation treatment will be successful.
Oh, that’s so scary about your cousin, tarra. She’s in my thoughts and prayers.
Sounds like a fun visit, BooFae. We’ll want to hear the story, of course.
I’m up at an unreasonable early hour and am hoping that I can get lots done and that it doesn’t rain much today. I have to work at a plant sale this afternoon and I’m not sure if we’ll be under cover.
Congrats on your GQ coup, MBG! ::Heaps additional rose petals on MBG::
Gonna clean up a bit, go out to buy annuals, stop by the plant sale as a customer, come back here and either work in the garden or work in the house (depending on weather) and then go off to work the plant sale.
I’m awake. We went to bed at eleven. Mr. Lissar and Attacks Husband and I were lying around in the livingroom, occasionally making conversation, and continually drifting off. This is what creeping age does to you, isn’t it? Can’t even stay up until midnight.
Glad she’s home. Sounds like it’s the best place to be considering the lack of good care she was getting in the hospital.
Sitting up is sooooo hard with broken ribs. I would go, “ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow” as I tried to bring myself to a sitting position. Then I’d grab the pain pills.
Wow, Bobbio, you have some interesting things happen to you. Good on you for stepping up though. Good on you for putting that nurse in her place too. I’m glad the wife is home and I hope her recovery is speedy.
tarra, I’m keeping your uncle and cousin in my thoughts. Freakin’ cancer…it’s everywhere. I really hope the treatments work for your cousin. My aunt had cervical cancer. They actually put her in some kind of isolation and treated her with radiation.
Swampy, I’m with you on the “don’t waste my time, if I’m doing you a favor” thing. It’s just rude.
This morning I dropped my daughter off at her school so she could take the SAT. She’s only a junior, but wanted to take one now to see where her weak spots are for when she takes it next year.
After she returns from that, the hubby and I are going out to visit with friends who live out in Yelm. They’re BBQing steaks and such. They also bought tequila in honor of Cinco de Mayo, however, I’m not a To-Kill-Ya fan, so we’ll be stopping by the liqor store on the way out to purchase either rum or vodka. At any rate, I’m sure we’ll have lots of fun and we’re looking forward to it.
I don’t really like tequila because of way overdoing it in my youth. We spent the night doing tequila puffs (or slammers as some people know them), and I got sick. Really, really, really, really sick. For years, even the smell of tequila would turn my stomach. I can handle the occasional drink with tequila in it, but that’s about it.
Thats about all for our plans today, I think. I need to get cleaned up and head out to the store shortly.
“Don’t stay here too long, you’ll get all slitty-eyed.”
Morning, all. I was up till 2 last night playing drinking games with my friends, so I’m a bit out of it this morning. But not too bad, all things considered. Must head out for brunch with friend. Have a lovely Saturday everyone!
Well, let’s see. I think my buddy’s going to take his kid to the driving range (golf) for the first time today. I may tag along.
I hurt my back again. I did it very innocently, playing racketball last week. Gr. It’s a similar pain to my old back pain, but it’s the other side of my back, which worries me a little bit.
I did NOT sleep well, did not take the magic sleepy pill that the doc gave me, because I had a couple beerverages last night. PLUS, I could not sleep on my right side - where I normally do because of this stupid hunk taken out of my ear.
Grrr.
So I made myself a nice big hunky-man breakfast, have caffienated and will now be off to the gym. The Child is off taking her first final of the semester, Wife has her TV on, and this makes her happy.
Later, the area C of C is holding a wine tasting event along the riverfront, I’ll need to accompany the Wife and some friends, but I’m not a wine guy, so I’ll tag along and eye the microbrewery across the street, hoping I can will the others into suggesting we stop there for Din-Din.
MBG I suggest you drop your wife and friends at the wine tasting and head over to the microbrewery for a beer tasting. It’s all win-win! I’m all helpful like that.
We went and had Chinese for lunch. I got a really sucky fortune…
Some one close to you is in need of a letter
How lame! How unsnerkworthy! I mean, true I could write the letter IN BED! but that’s still as lame as it gets.
ACBG on the other hand got a good snerkworthy fortune…
Great honor will be bestowed upon you this year
He says to <snerk> away!
Taters I took the SAT my junior year for the same reason your daughter is takin’ 'em. Smart kid!
