Pajamas

I wear new pajamas fit for an emperor.

When I see men’s pj’s I always think - “how could you wear a suit of clothing to bed?” They look uncomfortable to me. I picture a lot of bunching and twisting.

My husband wears his underwear and a t-shirt in the summer and a thermal henley in the winter. Loves his pj pants - either flannel or polar fleece, but they’re just worn for lounging around.

Robes seem to have kind of disappeared when lounge pants appeared. Jim Gaffigan has a funny bit where he says that he received a robe for Christmas. He said, “A robe?! Who has time for a robe?”

Not to sleep in. I find clothing in bed to be confining. I have a couple pairs of pajama bottoms that I wear with a T-shirt around the house, however. My thankfully deceased brother in law used to wear long nightshirts. This guy was probably 6’4" tall and rather cadaverous looking. It was truly creepy to see him wander through wearing one of those shirts, looking like some sort of Scrooge-like pedophile.

One of the things I’ve seen my Dad carry there was the thermometer, after checking one of the Bros for fever.

He didn’t wear the thermometer to bed, though.

  1. I wear my boxer shorts wherever I sleep. Nothing else. Unless it’s below 55 in the bedroom.

I usually don’t, but today I am. They’re of the soft/cotton/flannel variety. Almost like a sweatshirt and sweatpants, but thinner. (So, pullover style top, not a button down.) Normally, I just like to sleep in my boxers and tee shirt, but I do feel extra comfortable in this type of PJ, especially with the cold weather. ETA: Looking online, it looks like what I’m describing might fall under the category of “loungewear.”

I neither own nor wear pajamas…

with the exception of a pair of How the Grinch Stole Christmas pj bottoms that I sleep in every Xmas Eve.
