just in case this isn’t a whoosh. Ankle bracelet w/radio that monitors whereabouts of the wearer = “tether” aka “electronic monitoring”.
The worst punishment would be if the media ignore her permanently.
Not gonna happen, at least not until she turns 40. Then she will disappear from the entertainment world entirely. I think men in black vans are involved, but I’m not too sure. I don’t like to ask too many questions.
Whelp, color me whooshed! I thought you were actually referring to a physical tether. :smack:
Me dum.
But it does appear, on the face of it, to be an injustice. Would I be released from my 23 day sentence because I wasn’t eating and I was crying all the time? I think not.
If it’s any consolation, if you were at my place crying and refusing to eat, I’d send you home after only a couple of hours.
It doesn’t sound like her time served is out of the ordinary, though.
Does anybody really feel less safe because Paris Hilton is out of jail? I get the distinct impression that people were viewing her incarceration as a form of entertainment and now they’re just disappointed that the show is over.
I agree with Diogenes here. I am also not suprised that someone with the limited intellectual capacities Ms Hilton seems to have does strange things under this sort of media gase. Can’t be good for the mind.
As for people asking why she was driving… well if you had an SLR, would you want to give up driving!?
shrug Could be, I’m not going to die on that hill. I just don’t think I would have been treated the same. She already had her sentence cut in half before she even set foot in jail. (Which would of course apply to anyone, as it was pre-calculated good time.) I don’t get the further reduction.
She shouldnt serve time because she is a danger to the public. She should have served time to learn that you dont ignore the Court system.
I dunno. Are you cute, rich, and very connected?
Astroboy14 doesn’t seem to think so.
The Liberation of Paris!

It won’t be long, since African-American leaders are already decrying her rather premature release, before dozens and dozens of incarcerated folks will be applying for the newly minted status: " This Food Sucks And I Am Very Frightened So Send Me Home Now".
Ms. Hilton has proven it to be a legal and valid status which was used to insure her release to a home confinement situation. No doubt many other prisoners hate the food and are scared shitless.
I foresee a land office business in these ankle bracelet monitors, as California’s county jails suddenly empty.
So, the hard question- is Los Angeles County Sheriff an elected position or state appointed? Cause, if that fucker’s elected, he’d better have a few million bulimic spoiled cretin voters tucked away for the next election to counteract the blizzard votes for the Other Person.

Sorry for the Post Aux Deux, but I didn’t type fast enough. Here’s the edit addition:
Ironic, no? Scooter Libby was sentenced pretty harshly for a crime he did commit, and the sentence was meant to send a message: DONT DO THIS. Here is Paris Hilton, and instead of keeping her sentence at 45 days so the message would be loud and clear- DONT DO THIS- the Sheriff rolled over. Pussy.
No, 100 would be pure alcohol. 1.0 would be 1% BAC (which would most certainly be fatal), what I (and I believe lowbrass) meant to say was .10. The legal limit in the United States is presently .08.
It’s generally thought above .50 is lethal but I think there was a case in Eastern Europe awhile back of someone having a BAC that was theoretically lethal but somehow they seemed to be mostly okay.
Wrong. Calif. attorney interviewed on Fox News this morning stated quite clearly that the penal code says that if you enter at 11:59, you served that day in jail and similarly, if you exit a prison at 12:01 am, you have served that full date ( 24 hour period ) in jail. Everyone is crowing about this, and apparently it is 100 % state law and not some namby pamby bending of the rules.
The method of counting days served is a state-wide law and has been applied accurately here.

No, I agree. I’ve actually never heard of letting people out of jail for medical reasons. I assumed the person would remain incarcerated and have the condition treated if necessary. I was just responding to the whole “OMG this dangerous person was set free, what an outrage” idea.
Is that for real why she was let out? They said on the radio that “sources” said it was more mental than physical, but that’s all I’ve heard. Or did I miss a post that explained it?
I wouldn’t feel less safe if the majority of people in jail on non-violent drug possession were let out, but somehow, them crying and refusing to eat food not prepared by a personal chef doesn’t seem to get their time reduced any (and in general, that sort of behavior tends to get your time increased). So, yes, the fact that the legal system works differently for people like Hilton is pretty galling.
Lee Baca got two-thirds of the votes in last year’s election.
Martin Hyde: There was a man arrested in Poland with a 0.48 blood alcohol content reading.
Elected, but he’s not up for reelection until 2010. By then this’ll have been forgotten.
