Peach Iced Tea and Job Huntin’… The MMP

rigs, I feel for your son. I loved algebra in high school, but geometry was my kryptonite. That was the only class I ever fell asleep in.

So, I had Target’s cheese & green chili tamales for dinner (I know, I know, but being a vegetarian limits my tamale options). Anyway, one of the instructions is to “Remove husk before eating.” :dubious: No kidding. I find the image of someone trying to eat a corn husk strangely amusing, though.

gt I’m so sorry about your friend’s mother. I’ll keep her in my thoughts and prayers. Oh, and yay for bro!

Yes, I am supposed to be at Maundy Thursday service right now, but I was just too dang tired to go, so I didn’t. Matter of fact I have a headache and soon am planning on medicating myself and goin’ to bed. ACBG left this afternoon to go visit his family. His newest great niece is gettin’ baptized on Sunday and he wanted to be there for that. He’ll do that, have lunch with his family then drive six hours back Sunday. I’m tired just thinkin’ about that.

Ok, the interview went well in my opinion. It was an hour and a half long! They asked me everything I could possibly ever imagine someone being interviewed for that position could ever be asked. There were several questions about what I would do in given situations. I feel like I handled it well. Then I got put in an office and given a written question to answer. I wrote three and a half pages. They will either be impressed or bored to death with that. I feel really good about it. This was a first round interview, so I know I’m not the only person they are talkin’ with. I already knew this cause I knew interviews were being scheduled for today, tomorrow and Monday. I took an interview for today because I know me well enough that if I had had four of five days to think about it I would have worried myself sick. I tend to do stuff like that.

Yep I’m postin’ again. Get over it! :stuck_out_tongue:

I promised pictures of my mother’s azalea bush with two different colored azaleas, so here goes. There’s also pics of her bathroom sink fountain. It really is her old bathroom sink converted into a fountain. Mom’s all avante garde like that. The final pic is an artfully arranged display of potted plants on steps.

Two different colors of azalea blooms on one bush. Another shot of the same. The bathroom sink fountain. Flower pots artfully arranged on steps.

And, just cause I’ve talked about 'em, I got pics of the various and sundry critters.

Mama AKA FatKat. Groucho, bein’ held by my mom. Check out the stache. Lucy, the cockatiel who imitates mom’s microwave. My niece Faith, sis’s dog.

Blah. and Blah.

I’m either tired, or been a’funking all day, I can’t figger out which.

Tomorrow is a no-school, but we all work day, day.

I’m leaving early to see the normal doctor, and tell her all 'bout me.

Yay. (sarcastic sort of a yay)

I made a MySpace page. I fought it, but here I sat bored, trying to read my Kid’s page, and some friends that are in a band, and thought this would all be easier if I had a page and some imaginary MySpace friends, so there it is.

On the good news side, my new tablet PC is in and the 'puter people will bring it to me in the morning. yay for faster, bigger hard drives and such! On the other hand, I imagine it’ll take me a while to re-load all the various programs and things, and make all the settings familiar and comfortable to me. I’ve been using this laptop for over 2 years, it’s like a glove to me. I have saved a document that lists all the various programs, Firefox extensions and settings I need to remember to do.

Appropriate waves and hugs all around, it seems to have been busy here today.

I had Peach/Apple Iced Tea Tuesday at Toby Keith’s **I Love This Bar and Grill ** in Vegas. Bits of diced apple floating on the top of a large mason jar full of tea. Set off the pulled pork sandwich quite nicely, I thought.

The plumbing at Rose Hill Seafood is undergoing repairs so they are closed for a week. Darn it, my mouth was set for stuffed shrimps and I had to settle for hamburger steak with onions & gravy, collard greens, fried green tomatoes and peach iced tea. With strawberry shortcake for dessert.

burp

Tomorrow is the final get-together with the Snakes for this season. I’ll get Connor to sign my jersey, get a few final hugs and say bye to most of the guys for the summer. Some of them have summer jobs lined up so they’ll be staying around.

Is it October yet?

5 months. :frowning: I may have to go out and get NHL07

Señor Mr. Bus Guy, we will have none of that sarcasting yay-ing from you! You’ll go to the doctor and you will tell her all about you and you will feel better!!! Or else. :stuck_out_tongue:

But really, hope you feel right soon. Keep stopping by, even if it’s just to say bleh. Have we hugged you enough yet? Didn’t think so. Hugs.

Wow, Drae, that sounds like lots of drama. Boo on the sinus infection and doggie destruction stuff. Hope roomie is on her way to feeling well. Sounds like the temp interview went well. Maybe they’ll call you in tomorrow? I’m sure I’ve mentioned before that I got into my current line of business via temping. They assigned me to what sounded like a boring job at the state agency I’ve now been at for almost 17 years. Thought about it earlier this week: I was bored in March of 1991. And probably not even for the whole month. I started on a Friday the 13th (which just about no one else in state government can say, since normal people start on Mondays). I’m in my 5th or 6th position with the same agency (I lost count somewhere back there; also, it’s sort of hard to tell what counted as a job and what didn’t). Anyhoo…good luck with the job stuff.

Glad the interview went well, swampy. That really sounds like a great opportunity. You listed us all as references, right?

silenus, that tea sounds like it was yummy. (What, no beer?)

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers for my friend’s mom. I was in shock most of the day because of it. We’d been talking a lot about what her mom was going through and her family’s reaction. The doctor had told her she probably had a couple months left, but that turned out to be a couple of weeks. Fortunately, they were able to do lots of the planning and organizational stuff while my friend was there the last few days. In fact, my friend finished off the last major financial item on the list on the way to the hospital yesterday. She’s thinking that her mom may have decided that since everything was in order, she’d had enough. Still, it’s painful. I’m grateful that we have a good support system at work and she has good support in her family.

On the much brighter side, when I got home from church I had a voicemail from my oldest college friends. They’re going to be in Columbus early next week! I haven’t seen them in a couple years, so it’ll be fun. It will also give me a good excuse to leave work on time (or maybe even… …EARLY).

Guess I should consider getting to bed. The one downside of going to church on Holy Thursday is that I get home late and then I’m way awake. But it wouldn’t feel like Easter if I didn’t go…(yes, I’m a church geek - bet you didn’t know we had those).

Hugs to all…

GT

Hugs, kisses, and love to all. Just a drive-by - honk honk!

Wow. Your mom’s stache is 2 feet long and has eyes! :stuck_out_tongue:

Swampy, thanks so much for the pics - that azaelea is quite pretty, don’t know why or how there’d be two different colors on one bush, though. Heh … don’t take that the wrong way, now! Groucho does have a mustache! He’s cute and so is Fat Mama. Thanks again for posting the pics. (and hi to your mom, and crossing fingers on the job interview for ya!)

We’re under a freeze warning tonight - it’s already 37 F here! Bah! Next week, I’m on call for jury duty on the 11th (Wed.); here, it’s one day/one trial (this is petit jury, usually civil cases I think), so I call the night before to see if I’m in the group for the next day. I’ve done it once before and actually got picked for a case - I just didn’t realize it had already been three years ago! Once they get you, apparently, they’ll surely call you again.

TGIF tomorrow, woo hoo - Good Friday to boot.

The tea was for rehydration. What I was drinking with dinner was a 22oz. Mason Dixon(vodka, rum, Amaretto, Captain Morgan Spiced Rum, grenadine, pineapple juice.) I almost had a Shiner Bock instead of the cocktail, but the wife’s looked so good I had to get one of my own.

Nice azalea photos, Swampy. I’m confused by the artfully arranged pots, though – do those steps actually go anywhere? Or is it just a flight of steps to nowhere?

And have you submitted Groucho to Cats that Look Like Hitler? Because he’s a prime candidate!

I’m TIRED. My first full day working since my surgery, and it has me totally and completely beat. I’m off to snore a bit, and then get up and go get tortured at PT in the morning (and then hopefully permanently released from torture), and then come home and frantically try to finish the last of the three short transcripts that are due by 2 pm. I’ve got the first two done, and the third is 1/4 done. Which was more than enough for one day.

I miss azaleas! They don’t seem to be very common around here.

I’m about to fall over from exhaustion, so appropriate noises/hugs to everyone. I’ll be more responsive in the morning, I promise. Night!

I’m up! And semi-awake!

That’s a scary-, if tasty-, sounding cocktail, silenus.

Most azaleas prefer warmer climates than where you are, I think, Hank. There are quite a few here in Columbus, but you have to find just the right place for them to survive. Meant to comment on them last night. I’m assuming one color is from the original plant (and wasn’t intended to show up) and one was grafted. Looks cool, though. Don’t suppose twickster is reading this by chance? Purty azaleas, anyhow.

Hi meeks!

Gotta go surf for a spring wreath idea. Have to conjure one up for tomorrow morning.

It’s almost the weekend!!!

GT

Good morning everybody. It’s tailgate day! I am meeting up with a bunch of people and w are tailgating before both games this weekend. I also got the Center Ice Online package, if I can’t go to playoff hockey, I can at least watch it.

Mom has cute kitties, swampy. Does Lucy do the whiiiiiiirrrrrrDING! like a microwave?

Swampy, don’t sweat it. They’ve gotta know that you’re the best of the best. If they don’t just send me thier name and address and I’ll come down there to redneckville and sort them out.

Yesterday I had myself an endoscopy. Wasn’t bad, though I’m a little bit sore throaty today.

OOH! I like this. “Yahs want ta give me da job, or do I have ta send my friend welby to pays yahs “a visit”.” Actually that’d be real easy. All you’d have to do is go to Warm Springs, go onto the campus of RWSIR, go to the admin building and commence with the chaos. It’s real easy to find once you’re in Warm Springs cause it’s right there.

BioTigs, cats that look like Hitler, hee! I think I will submit ol’ Groucho’s pic.

That azalea bush is really interesting. See, mom has three of those light pink azaleas bushes and one of the dark pink. The really strange thing is this is on the light pink bush that farthest away from the dark pink one. I’m thinkin’ bees and pollination and all caused this to happen because the light and pink blooms are on one branch (stem?) of that bush.

Spats, mom’s stache also has a tail that’s about a foot long. :stuck_out_tongue:

doggio mom’s microwave beeps when it’s done. That’s what Lucy has learned to imitate. She goes beepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeep everytime she hears the microwave. Strange bird. I wanted a pic of her sittin’ on my shoulder but she would not allow mom to take a pic of her sittin’ there. I really wanted to show y’all a pic of Lucy on my shoulder takin’ her beak and pullin’ on my beard which is one of her favorite things to do. She lurves my beard!

I’m not much for sweetened iced teas, but the peach iced tea is good. I’ve also had peach/apple iced tea like Silenus described and that was good too. One of my all time favs, though, is iced tea sweetened with mango. NUMMY!

ETA: MBG yay on you for gettin’ this checked out. Here’s hopin’ it’s nuttin’ biggie but it’ll feel better knowin’ what’s makin’ you feel like you do.

Morning update: Maggie hornked on the rug. She feels better now. Here is a blog entry about the tailgating this weekend.

doggio the purpose of a good hornk is to feel better.

Ok, I submitted Groucho’s pic to Cats That Look Like Hitler. Here’s hopin’ he’s accepted.
