Peach Iced Tea and Job Huntin’… The MMP

Good Morning, gt, I am up and feeling fine. Actually I didn’t get too snockered, I gotta go and tailgate again today. It’s a cool 32 degrees Amurikin(0 degrees Furrin). That’s what I like about hockey, your beer stays colder, longer.

So, who’s up for Monday? Did I miss a [del]sucker[/del] gracioius volunteer steppin’ forward?

I was just coming in here to ask about Monday, too. Puggy asked this earlier and no one answered… If no one else jumps in (LiLi will be back tomorrow and could conceivably volunteer, for instance, nudge nudge, hint hint), I can do it.

GT

Morning, all. We have snow on the ground. Not much, but it’s freaking April. It’s not right to have snow on top of the daffodils and cherry blossoms!!

I say we volunteer LiLi for the MMP. Hey, isn’t that how people get voted into office in most volunteer organizations – they miss a meeting and are elected in absentia? It’s certainly happened to me, so I say we do the same for LiLi!

And now off to caffeinate some more. I slept badly last night, tossed and turned a whole bunch, so I need extra caffeination today.

Ok, all in favor of drafting LiLi to do Monday’s MMP say “Aye.”

AYE!!!

All those opposed [del]sitdownandshutup[/del] say “Nay.”

::CRICKETS::

The “Ayes” have it. LiLi shall be our hostess with the mostess for Monday. She’ll be thrilled! Really! Wait’ll she sees she’s been drafted! She’ll leap for joy! Or hunt us all down. Either way it’ll be fun.

But who’s going to tell her she’s drafted? Just in case, y’know, she doesn’t come back to this thread tomorrow? That’s the only problem I can see with drafting her…

Hey all. I’m caffeinating, deciding what to eat and figuring out how to transfer my I-Tunes library to this shiny new 'puter. You would THINK it would be as easy as popping thr IPod in, and dragging everything over, but nooooooooooo. It’s all about copying the folder separately to the I-Pod then going to the new pc and transfering again I guess.

Later, Wife and I are off to do the errands of the day - shopping mostly. I’m feeling lazy - last night was later than I expected. We went to a sports bar with some friends and I ate their mahvelous "adult grilled cheese’, which is your basic grilled cheese, except on thick sourdough and dripping with tomatoes and thick sliced bacon. And kettle chips.

Ok, off to do the Pod thing again…

Afternoon everyone! It’s a fantastic 16 UK degrees outside, bright sun and lots of it. I’ve just come back from running errands, was hoping to take some books back to the library but they’re shut for easter until Wednesday. So that’s going to be my Wednesday mission…spending ages in the library.

Haven’t really done much today - had a lie-in, did stuff with 'im indoors, watched crap telly stuff for a while and then went to do errands. I’m running a bath now, just got to get myself all presentable then we’re off out for drinkables with a friend.

Tonight we’ll be in the Old Joint Stock which is a Fuller’s pub so we’ll most likely be drinking London Pride. I guess that means Sunday’s going to be a day of vegging on the sofa with a cat or two to fuss!

:: bleary-eyed :: Good morning all. I have so much thesis work to do that it gives me a headache just to contemplate it. Today will be a productive day, with the aid of much tea, I hope. Hope everyone else has a lovely Saturday!

Well they canceled the pre-game practice, so I went and bought bread.

BooFae, I love the Fuller’s London Porter.

Hi Haze!!

MBG, “adult grilled cheese” might have to be added to my menu.

Good morning everyone. I’m up and drinking coffee. I don’t know how the yard work plans are going to work out today. It rained. I guess we’ll see what the weather does.

Other than that, no huge plans for today. I do need to go to the store and pick up some groceries, but I think that’s about it. Unless of course, we do proceed with the yard work. Then the day will be extremely busy.

I guess I should go get cleaned up and everything.

Good afternoon. Well, at least it’s not evening! Still have grocery shopping to do (which I am dreading since it’s the day before Easter), but no other plans.

We did get a light dusting of snow last night, but it’s all melted now. Thankfully! Has Kaiwik been around this week? I just read a bit in the “news of the strange” where a wolf had grabbed a dog from a lady walking her dogs in the park - that was in Alaska somewhere and the dog was a Pom! Also saw that Ed Mallory, who played Dr. Bill Horton on “Days of our Lives” has passed away. :frowning: He was on the show from 1966 to sometime in the early 80s and had returned to the show a couple of times for short stints. He was part of the Bill/Mickey/Laura triangle - the bio father of Mike, a secret that Mickey didn’t find out for many years. Heh, back in the day when a soap really was a SOAP.

Such a fount of bad news today, so sorry. Happy Easter all, and good luck to LiLi, who will officially become Catholic today (I think?).

tara, the pom naping was in Juneau, kai is in Kodiak.

LiLi said she’d be here tomorrow to tell us all about her confirmation and to wish everybody Happy Easter. Herbs she and Mr. Lissar are being confirmed at Easter Vigil tonight as I recall her saying. Then I do believe some adult celebratin’ is to commence afterwards. So maybe we shouldn’t YELL REAL LOUD when she shows up.

Also, QD reported that she missed us, so what better way to show her appreciation than to start next week’s MMP? We can assure her that a late Sunday evening MMP would be fine, as it’ll be Monday elsewhere by then anyway.

Sounds like a plan to me!

I’ve been shredding like a crazy person (N.O.C., no MBG, we are not quite tired of picking on you yet), partly in avoidance of work. I actually went to work for about 1/2 an hour, moved a bunch of files to my laptop, and then brought everything home. I’m about to go to the grocery so that I can make sure I have everything for tomorrow, then I’ll set the sweet potatoes to cooking and then I’ll start playing with the work files. Oh, and throw some more laundry in the washer.

Yes, it’s another exciting Saturday chez GT! It does look a bit cleaner around here, though.

Back later.

GT

Since the washer is fixed, I have piles and piles of laundry to do - including the wet towels from mopping up the cat suite. I can see what the rest of my afternoon looks like…oh well, I didn’t have plans anyway.

Mr. SCL has the better printer of the two of us, but right now his printer and his computer aren’t speaking to each other. He’s going to work on that so I can print out some more pictures for Connor’s scrapbook.

A friend of mine called me earlier in the week to tell me she was getting married yesterday to a guy she has been dating about a month. Then I talked to her Thursday and she wasn’t getting married because her mother was against it and boohoohoo my mother doesn’t want me to be happy and boohoohoo. As of yesterday she is planning on getting married June 9th. I do feel a bit better about this - at least it gives a little time for the “new” to wear off. She’s known the guy about a year but wouldn’t date him - he drank too much. Now he only drinks when she says it’s ok. Riiiiiiiiiiight. I can see that lasting. The last hockey game we went to she was calling him every 10 minutes and the first words out of her mouth were always "are you drinking?’ I haven’t even met the guy - maybe he is ok - but she’s already been divorced twice with 3 kids at age 32 and I worry about her jumping into something so fast. Not that it is really any of my business…but…

Off to unload the dryer.

Sounds to me, SCL, like your friend suffers from the same problem one of my friends always says she has – her manpicker is broke. I guess the questions to ask are:

  1. How does he act when he drinks too much, i.e. happy/weepy/angry/violent?
  2. How often does he get drunk when she’s not there telling him not to? Is it more than once or twice a week, or is it every day?
  3. Does he have any DUIs? Any other arrest record?
  4. How long has he had his current job? His last job before this one?

Of course, if you ask her any of those questions, she’ll probably get mad at you. If she’s a-gonna, she’s a-gonna no matter how much sense it does or doesn’t make.

Can someone please tell me where my energy went? Because I was doing fine this morning, got up and got lots done; but a couple of hours ago it all disappeared. I have all these things I should be doing, but all I want to do is go take a nap. And I really shouldn’t take a nap because I’d like to get to sleep before 2 a.m. tonight for a change.

MamaTigs, I think you are right. Those are some of the same thoughts I have been having. She once told me “I don’t have to have a man in my life.” but she doesn’t act like she’s happy being single. As I said, I haven’t met this guy, but he is 10 years younger than she is and I wonder how long he is going to be happy living with three kids under the age of 12 - who aren’t his.

I do like this girl; that’s why I worry. I was worried that our friendship was going to be over when I told her that I couldn’t stand up for her on Friday. I just couldn’t do it - my conscience wouldn’t let me. (Hush, Swampy, I do so have a conscience!) I won’t feel quite as bad about it if she waits at least a few months. I still think she is rushing things.

Oh - I have to show off my new sig line! I got a book through PaperbackSwap.com - “Hockey Shorts - 1001 of the game’s funniest one-liners”.

Snakes the woman needs a couple whacks upside the head if you ask me. There ain’t a thing in that relationship that points to anything other than disaster. Here’s hopin’ one of the two of ‘em comes to their senses and realizes this. Maybe puttin’ off the wedding a couple of months will cause a light to come on in her head. And yes, I do believe you have a conscience. Heck, I have a conscience. It’s morals I lack.

Anybody else picturin’ gt madly shreddin’ everything in sight? If not, do cause it’s a really fun mental image! :stuck_out_tongue:

Y’all know how I said deviled eggs were the only thing I had to bring to lunch tomorrow? Well, I noticed that I have more sweet N.O.T. than I thought I had. What? They’re in my big N.O.T. bag so I didn’t see ‘em all. So, thinks I, that I have more of these things than I thought, so I need to do sump’n. So, I make a phone call to the host/hostess for tomorrow and ask if they’d like a sweet N.O.T. pie to throw in the mix. They said sure, so I baked one to take. A sweet N.O.T. pie is always welcome in these parts. I called the hostess for tomorrow’s supper (Ima eat big all day tomorrow!) and asked if she’d like it if I brought along a couple bottles of white muscadine wine and she was thrilled cause she really likes it, so I’m bringin’ a couple bottles. I like it too. It’s a nice dry wine that’s ever so slightly sweet and light.

Oh and tomorrow after the Vigil service I’m goin’ to help hide Easter Eggs for the big kiddie aig hunt after the big church service tomorrow. I won’t be around for that cause the way I see it, after two hours of this tomorrow morning culminatin’ in an Easter Eucharist, I should be well churched and can come home and nap.

Good afternoon!

My neighbor’s son has moved in with her, and he’s gotten a little wacky now that his mom’s away at work. (I haven’t a clue how old he is; somewhere between my age of 24 and mid-30s sounds about right, though.) Last night, he and a friend of his started in with the bad techno music until 10pm when the noise ordinances kick in. This morning, it started back up again around 10:30am, including some drinking (why else not?) and the inclusion of some foxy new ladies that the guys brought home last night. The entire neighborhood is having a good giggle over this, as this is the side of the house that faces the street. No, we aren’t the only ones who came up to take pictures of it.

In other news, my attempt at hennaing my hair to a redder shade has failed miserably. Luckily, I’m only out $10 and my hair smells mildly of grapefruits. Thank goodness it did not turn some really weird shade; it’s only a little “sharper” in tone than it was before.
