I believe I’ve started a new Easter tradition here in FairyChatLand. I just baked a lemon meringue pie. **FCD ** is very happy, as it is one of his favorite pies. Of course, we’re taking it to the family thing at my sister’s, but it’s the thought, right?
I need to load the dishwasher and dress in my proper duds. I don’t think fuzzy robe and slippers is acceptable attire for this get together.
Happy Passover, rosie! If it’s any consolation, I had to look up when Easter was when my sister invited us over for dinner. I’m a very very lapsed Catholic…
I was just coming in to ask if you’d done anything to celebrate Passover, rosie, since you hadn’t mentioned it earlier in the week. Stop getting ahead of me!!!
And good wishes for Passover!
I’ve vacuumed, need to go move sheets into dryer (decided to wash them this morning), and then take a shower.
Then it’s off to suburban Cincinnati! Woo hoo!
Back tonight. Looking forward to a grumpy MMP, LiLi.
And yay on QD wearing the ring! (So, are you going to come in and tell us about it, QD? If you don’t, we’ll only have LiLi’s version to go by.)
LiLi: “So after Mass, I went out and got hammered with my four husbands…”
Priest:
I am back from Mass. I had a little trouble hitting the high notes in the hymns after all the screaming last night. I think I sprained my uvula.
Happy belated Passover, rosie!
Happy Peepday to our non-Christian MMPers!
Yay for QD! Remember to buy clean undies for the wedding. Or at least choose non transparent fabric for the dress.
gt, rosie, nope, it’s just a year round Christmas tree.(after 4 1/2 years it’s not laziness, it’s tradition)
Morning, all, and Happy Passover/Easter/watch hockey on TV day to everyone! I slept in this morning, since lucky Papa Tigs lost the vote to get up early and take Lapin Blanc to the airport, off to take care of her grandma. If we hear screams of frustration from Seattle, it’ll be her. But I warned my mom that if she treats Lapin Blanc like she’s 12 years old again, she’ll get an earful this time. I’ve been updating her on all the fussing at I’ve been receiving from my dear daughter, so I think my mom has some idea of what she’s facing. I can’t wait.
I told Papa Tigs about your friend, SCL, and he just rolled his eyes and suggested you give your friend the phone number for Al-Anon. Which sounds like a real good idea to me, too. If she thinks she’s gonna “fix” his drinking, oy, is she in for a surprise!
rosie I did think about it Wednesday but since you never mentioned Passover, I thought maybe you didn’t observe.
I’ve been churched and napped, though I could stand bein’ napped again as I’m still sleepy. Maybe I need a snack cause tummy is rumbly and lunch is not for another couple hours. I’ll actually be leaving about a quarter of twelve to get there in time to make Bloody Mary’s. I’m in charge of that, so I got told. Apparently I am the only one I know who can get that right combo of vodka and Bloody Mary mix to make a proper B.M.
Bobbio of course I have sent the thank you notes. I mean it was only three notes, not like it is after an orgy when one must write twenty or thirty.
heff it’s Toshiba - I haven’t gotten around to playing with Paint yet, but yeah - I can free hand with it there as well.
Wecome back LiLi!!! and remember, no drunk posting is allowed in the MMP, we’re all too boring and serious for that kind of thing.
It’s just the three of us in Casa Bus today, we have an invite for later - after dinner, but we’ll probably make it, seeing as how it’s all the way across the street.
Right now I have some cinnamon rolls in the oven, coffee in the big mug and a Sunday paper all sorted out.
I’ve rousted the kids out of bed, but so far only one of them has managed to make it downstairs.
My tummy is sort of rumbly, but I think I’ll wait to eat until we get to MIL’s. She always has tons of snack foods and such set out so we can nosh before the real meal.
We did go to Lowes yesterday and bought bunches of stuff related to yard work, tuning up the mower, and switched out propane tanks for the grill. We had our first BBQ of the year last night. Nothing big, just some hamburgers, but they were good.
I’m really wishing I could just stay home today and get started on the yard work and then lounge, or that we could go to MIL’s a little later, but she always wants us over early in the afternoon for Easter dinners.
Isn’t that a football stadium behind you? I thought you were tailgating for hockey…
Laundry is sloshing (you didn’t think I’d get it all done in one day, did you?) and I’m trying to get motivated to go to the store to get a color cartridge for the printer so I can work on Connor’s scrapbook. I may just cut out newspaper articles today and go get ink tomorrow… I have so many newspaper articles I don’t have pages for them all, so I’m only going to put the ones that specifically mention Connor on the pages. The rest I’ll put in envelopes sorted by month and tape them in the back of the scrapbook. Does that sound reasonable to any scrapbookers out there? I’ve never done one.
Note to self - if you sponsor a player again, cut out the articles as you collect them. Facing a foot high stack of newspaper is depressing.
Glad to hear I’m not the only one doing laundry today, Snakes. One load of darks, two loads of whites. I hope the henna hair rag doesn’t mess up the rest of the whites. It shouldn’t, considering it did a less than mediocre job on coloring my hair.
On top of that, I went through all the random papers and envelopes scattered around my room and cleaned up the mess while filing away the important stuff. If I had done this as I had gotten the papers, I wouldn’t have spent 30 minutes making file folders for all the important things. At least I’m preventing all this paperwork from being a complete nightmare when I move and have to be super-organized. I should have done this yesterday when stores would have been open so I could have bought a paper shredder; my last job (temping) has entailed a lot of paperwork that has my social security number on it and I want to throw this crap away without risking someone trying to steal my identity and mess up my credit.
I’ve been playing with aNobii today and adding books to my bookshelf. I realize this may go the way of last.fm with me and be stagnant for a few months after I set it up. Of course, I haven’t been listening to music outside of my car for the past three months.
This Catholic thing is going to be exciting, for sure.
Happy Passover, rosie!
We’re sort of slowly creeping around the house, tidying things. Fourteen people in our apartment was extremely exciting and crowded.
The catch is that QD hasn’t actually said yes yet. She’s worried that if she gets married and has kids, they’ll turn our to be Hitler. This is the most ridiculous reason to worry yet. I’m impressed.
Thanks for all the welcomes and congrats. db, you look very cute.
Wait - she hasn’t actually said yes yet, but she’s wearing the ring? Something is not right about that. An engagement ring is a symbol of a promise to marry. If she hasn’t made the promise why is she wearing the symbol?
Ok, I’ll shut up and mind my own business.
Happy belated Passover, rosie! And Happy Easter to all those who celebrate it - Happy Eat Chocolate Day to those who don’t!
Wow! A web service whose primary interface is Mac! Besides that, it looks very interesting. I may justs sign up.
Okay, okay. Truth is I haven’t been to a sedar in years. But I do think about it, and I did not have any chinese food Tuesday evening. But I do celibrate chocolate!
QD! Yeah, I’m talking to you. First of all, you can get married now and wait to have kids. Or you can discuss it with DH and maybe you’ll chose to not have any (sorry LiLi, but it is a possibility) But most of all, the best way to prevent your kids from turning into Hitler is to love them and give them a good education (one that actually teaches the atrocities of WWII, and not one that denies their existance) Oh, and don’t show them Swing Kids until they’ve already made up their minds he was evil.
In other words, MARRY THE GUY ALREADY!
Hasn’t she written a list of for and against on that one?
CanineServant, oh adorable one, you’ll have to come over here and explain tailgating to me…it’s ok, I’m foreign, I’m allowed to ask stupid questions.
Freezer is defrosted, switched on and restocked, poi have been played with and 'im indoors is just about ready to come outside and play safety person while I hurl burning stuff around my head. Tuesday could turn out to be emergency haircut day!
BooFae oh firey headed one, be ignorant of tailgating no longer. It also means following really close behind another vehicle but that ain’t what doggio was talkin’ about.
LiLi has promised a MMP about starvation and debauchery. We should all keep vigil awaitin’ it.
Hi guys! Sorry I haven’t been around much. I hope everyone had a fine Easter!
We braved the 38° rainy weather last night and went to an Astros baseball game. We won! First time this season. And they lost today, too. Oh well, it was fun, even though they had the freakin’ AIR CONDITIONING on! WTF? We froze.
I’m cooking a ham in coca-cola like I saw Nigella Lawson do on TV. She was cooking “American Deep South” foods. I never heard of this, but apparently many others have. It smells divine! All you do is boil an uncooked regular ham in 2 liters of coke with a quartered onion for about an hour per pound. Then peel the “rind” off, leaving some fat, then glaze with molasses, dry mustard and brown sugar, and bake in a 450° oven for about 10 minutes to crisp up the fat.
Serving with scalloped **N.O.T.**s, crescent rolls and fresh asparagus. My stomach is growling, and it won’t be ready for 1-1/2 hours!
I did laundry yesterday, so I was able to take a nap today. Yay for naps!
Oh, sure, she can not have kids. I just think not having kids because you’re afraid of them being Hitler or Stalin is like not walking outside because of possible meteorite strikes. It’s a teeny tiny bit hugely ridiculous.
