Peach Iced Tea and Job Huntin’… The MMP

Yeah, but did you find a job?

Sheesh! Busy wasn’t the word for yesterday. Ya close for a day and a half and you get a hoard of people clamoring for your ear the next day you’re open. I expected higher volume, but that was redickulus!

[John Astin] But I’m feeling much better, now! [/John Astin]

Ye of the Big Yellow Transportation Vehicles: Yep. You’ve got the funk. (Give up the funk!) Sorry to hear about that - hopefully it’s just a temporary phase. Stress or work or some other nagging things weighing on your mind and/or soul (whence funk comes) and just sort of numbing you. I get that from time to time. I generally try and engage in some activity or another that I enjoy, one that detaches me from the world to some degree and allows me a bit of leg room to decompress. Playing a good video game helps me, or losing myself in writing a new bit of music, or reading a book, or putting on some good tunes, or working on a Photoshop contest or something – heck, just surfing the Dope sometimes. Basically, doing whatever I don’t presently feel “meh” about. Sometimes even just going out for a nice walk in good weather around a nice area is a good unwinding tool.

Either way, hope you pull out of it with all your feathers intact, as it were. But feel free to dump whatever luggage you’re carrying. We make great hall porters and I’m pretty sure we can find creative ways to dispose of it. If it gets worse though, seek help. We’re cool and funny and just all around People of Particular Awesomeness[sup]TM[/sup] and all that, but our 5¢ roadside therapy stands are no substitute for nice leather couches and people with degrees who write things on paper pads and say “Mmm-hmm” and “How do you feel about that?” a lot.

Bobbio - I’d like fog. It’s not bad here right now, but long term we’re in for several days of snow. Snow! Days of it! In April! Hey, LiLi, did you invite the Ol’ Bastard in for a farewell tea or something? Well, at least it won’t be cold. Just messy.

Heaven forbid that we should ever post anything related to the OP of a MMP past the first day, I know! However, Ima break tradition here.

In the OP I mentioned there are a couple of jobs I’d really like and that I’d answered back some additional info they asked for. Well, one of ‘em called me about fifteen minutes ago. I have an interview Thursday at 1:30 P.M. (as opposed to A.M. which would be a strange time for an interview) This job would require me to find new digs as it’s not around here. It’s at Roosevelt-Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation located, big surprise, in Warm Springs, Jawja. That’s not far from Snakes neck of the woods and just down the road from where I grew up. So there are pros and cons. However one of the big pros is the job itself which I do believe I would really like and pays really, really good! The big con would be movin’ from here and well, ACBG. Lots to think about if I were offered the job but it’d be a great job!

Please keep all appropriate (and if you wish inappropriate) appendages crossed for me.

Sounds promising! What do you do?

I don’t think I have any inappropiate apendages, but whatever appendages I have will be crossed for you, wetlandursus. Virtually that is, otherwise driving that car I don’t have or anything would be complicated.

BooFae, that’s basically what I’m doing. Only I’m giving it what I think of as my “anime schoolgirl approach”, being all perky and stuff and giving options, but the underlying message is “or else”. They can choose option A or option B; option Whattheywant (i.e., I shut up, be a good girl, live to work and look at them like they invented bread and butter) isn’t anywhere in the list.

Thanks everyone - I moaned here because I knew I could. taters , that sounds JUST like this. Y’all might be glad to hear that I called Doc W (my GP) who suggested not only the head to toe physical, but actually made an appt. with me to see a Head Doc - that’s a couple weeks off, but I guess it’s a step.

Today’s rant: Voice mail. I have a nice day off at the game, come to work and there’s 11 voice mails?!?!?

Glad to hear about the docstuff, MBG. Pats MBG’s shoulder

00Ursus, you know the old saying: “If you love something set it free. If it doesn’t come back, hunt it down and kill it.”

I say take the job, especially if you have a favorable real estate market and can swing getting new digs. You’re not all that far from ACBG anyway, and can probably stand some commuter style appreciatin’ for a while.

He’s a nurse; maybe you can get him a position there, too. Do it on the up-and-up, cuz you don’t want any nepotism accusations.

You’re in a better position than I was. I ended up leaving my kid in Indiana… :frowning:

MBG - good move on the doc stuff, at least you can share your funk!

Nava, sometimes that’s the only way to go. Give them whichever options you’re prepared to accept and don’t let them add any more to your list! 'im indoors is currently fulminating about his umbrella company who are supposed to be handling his new company and his business accounts, and they’ve just pulled out of the market with two days to go before the next tax year. He ain’t a happy chap.

StickyMuddyUrsus, what’s wrong with crossing inappropriate appendages? Won’t that make life more fun?

Besides, just think how much fun you could have persuading ACBG he really wants to move too? Even better, how much more appreciatin’ will he be doing when he gets to see you?

Kalhoun I am a professional dogooder. All my life I’ve had jobs involving working with people with disabilities especially in the area of employment. My last job was as a Director of Services which involved all kinds of strange things such as dealing with customer and vendor products, supervising direct support staff, budgets and all that there fun stuff until they decided to reorganize and downsize me. This job would be a lot of the same types of stuff and pays a lot more than [del]the rat bastard[/del] my last employer paid. Plus this job bein’ with the state has pretty good benefits.

Bobbio he’s a nurse and can find a job anywhere. Also, like me, he’s not particularly wedded to this area, so who knows.

Nava we know you are too much the lady to cross anything inappropriate.

MBG good for you for callin’ your GP. It never hurts to get all checked out. Also good you have the appointment with the Head Doc. Really smart idea to get everything looked at. All appropriate, and if needed, inappropriate appendages are crossed for ya.

BooFae ain’t nuttin’ wrong with inappropriate appendage crossin’ in my bood. We have talked about this as a possibility, so who knows, like I said earlier.

Just driving by, sneezing my dang fool head off. Stoopit allergies…

Good for you, MBG. Feel better soon! Good luck on whatever outcome from the job that you want, Swampy.

Back to work. Le sigh.

BusDude - That’s great to hear. The Doc appointments, that is. The voicemails, not so much. In fact, we had some Adventures in Voicemail over the weekend. Turns out that our phone system was a bit of an enigma to everyone here, because it took a few hours before anyone figured out how to change the greeting on the general delivery mailbox to announce that we were closed for inventory. This was precipitated by the discovery that we have a general delivery mailbox! This was then followed by the discovery that we have three years’ worth of messages in it. (Which is from the time they installed this newer system to replace the old one)

I’m just glad I’m not the one that had to sift through them all.

Swampus - Congrats on the callback and interview! Plenty of good luck and all that. It sounds like it could be just the ticket. How far would it be from ACBG?

Sounds pretty damn sweet! I know people who work for the state of Illinois and the bennies are wonderful. I hope you get it (and decide you can move).

Heloooooooooo! Yesterday the entire Cherry ensemble went to the aquarium! If you’ve never been in a crowded public place with many exciting things to see with a 2-year-old, then you’ll never understand the heights of excitement to which we ascended – and the depths of exhaustiin to which we descended! It was a fun, fascinating day, and the older children had a great time. This aquarium has an enormous tank, with tunnels for us to walk through – sharks and rays and turtles swimming above your head! We also petted little sharks, saw penguins hopping, and held lorakeets. The darling otters were napping in the sunshine, so no fun there. But it was a fun day, and a wonderful way to start Spring Break here!

Sad news flash: we lost one of the afterthought kitties last night. Prego and the PastaKids are still thriving; VWife is having a heck of a time keeping the new ones warm.

:frowning: , even though I hate cats.

mbg, FWIW youve got some red flags for clinical depression…especially about the lack of sleep and inability to pinpoint a cause…possibly due to a chemical imbalance. Good on you for going to the doc.

swampy, all appendages are crossed. We expect a report by, oh, say 1:45 pm today.

nava, hold out for the best deal. Life’s too short.

gt, I hope you and the other Ohians won’t take it personal if I presume to laud the Gators…Ahem…

**WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS! WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS! NO TIME FOR LOSERS CAUSE WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS…OF THE WOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRLLLLLLLDDDDDD!!! **

That is all.

Tupug

BusDude, another voice in the Amen chorus about the depression. Y’all know about my bout when I lost my job, and that was the worst I’ve had it. Not mentioned near as often was the milder form that I dealt with for several years prior. It manifested as chronic grouchiness, and was overtly tied to a long term stress overload. Even I could see it…

Hang in there, and see the docs. If you’re really lucky, you’ll get refered to a cute pshrink…

I just went back and read, and – sorry to be late, but MBG, sometimes it’s not YOU, it’s an imbalence in the brain! Saying you’re avoiding doing things that you enjoy is very much a “warning sign.” I do not believe taking medication (if that is what you need) means weakness, but that it allows you to become normal again. Please be well, and know that you can share here anytime.

swampy – that’s exciting about the possibility of the Warm Springs job, but a hard choice when it comes to the thought of moving. I’m in a spot now where I know I’ll never be moving again, which is a great security and relief, but also a teeny regret knowing I’ll never have that excitment of a totally new challenge.

Bobbio sorry about the kitty but good on you and VunderWife for takin’ ‘em in like that. I’m glad Prego and the PastaKids are thriving. Maybe the others will too. You’re givin’ 'em a fighting chance and that’s what counts.

Puggy the interview is on Thursday. I promise details. Ima go up to my mom’s tomorrow and spend the night cause it’s only thirty miles from there to Warm Springs. I figure that’d make more sense. Then I hightail it back to da swampcave cause Thursday is Maundy Thursday so I gotta be back to do the church thing that night. So, it might be Friday before I report on the interview.

BrainPasture it’d be about a hundred and thirty miles. Not too big a distance that weekends and such wouldn’t be doable. I may even hang on to da cave til it’s paid off if this comes about. Lots and lots to think about, but right now it’s all maybes.

Ellen the aquarium sounds jake. I haven’t been to the Jawja Aquarium yet but it’s on my list of things to see. Just wish it wasn’t in Etlanner cause I really don’t like goin’ there anymore.

Morning, all. I’m still caffeinating – I slept extra-long last night, which I needed after therapy and all the running around yesterday apparently done wore me out. I’ll shortly be doing some more running around, which is good for me; I’ll be heading off with Lapin Blanc, who has a job interview, and I’ll hang out at the bookstore next door to where she’s interviewing, and then we’ll both go see what the Target entrance fee is today.

Good on you, MBG, for hieing thee to the doctor. Sounds like you’re doing all the right stuff to figure out what’s going on.

Here’s hoping your kitty’s okay, Jahdra, and the pills do their job! Isn’t pilling a cat just the most fun ever?

All crossable appendages crossed, oh swampus ursinus. Jobs wherein one feeds off the gummint trough are great, especially when it comes to benefits. So we expect a full report soonest, needless to say!
