Peter Fonda is A Despicable, Nasty Piece of Work

Good point.

And of course Trump is continuing to harm children:

No remark from Peter Fonda could reach that level of depravity. Trump’s record is unlikely ever to be surpassed.

Attacking Barron is beyond wrong. Leave the kid alone. Fonda didn’t use Malia, Sasha or Chelsea as ammunition. Why do that to Barron? Let the kid grow up. His family sucks, but the kid is not on the playing field.

He has.

Peter Fonda apologizes for ‘highly inappropriate and vulgar’ tweet about Barron Trump

When all is said and done, I really don’t care. Do you?

Nice jacket dude.

Was it a credible threat against someone? Was there a foreseeable probability that the tweet might cause someone to commit a crime? Was any information disclosed that would help someone take harmful action against anyone?

If not, I don’t see why the Secret Service should get involved.

I guess this is of importance mainly to people who are of the right age and demographic to think that “Easy Rider” was a deep movie.

OK, someone clue me in on the Beatles reference please.
mmm

The “she” in “She Said” is Peter Fonda on an acid trip.

Fonda is the Eggman, John Bolton is the Walrus. Lennon had vision, man!

No, that’s wrong.

What Fonda said is certainly deplorable. But the things that Trump has said are at least ten times as deplorable as what Fonda has said.

And that’s just based on what each man said. Fonda has never done anything that would even approach the level of the horrible things Trump has done and is currently still doing.

Little Nemo, if you read the thread you’ll see that Evil Economist said basically the same thing, and I answered in post #21.

Do you have any actual evidence that Trump or the GOP have actually anally raped 11-yo children or is this yet another stupid lie?

You think people would spend so much life getting rich and famous if they knew what it would do to their kids?

What Peter Fonda said about one child was outrageous.

What the Trump administration is doing to countless children is also outrageous. It will also leave deep scars on these children that last for years. They inflict pain knowingly, and seemingly with delight.

Fonda was an asshole this one time, and he apologized for it. The Trumps are assholes every day, and they will never, ever apologize. Let’s keep things in perspective.

I understand what you say, but stumble trying to imagine it. I suppose a concentration camp guard might find child sex abhorrent, but would shrug at sending one along to the showers. There’s a number of things I can’t imagine, and also a bunch I won’t try.

I too saw what you did there.

One of the worst things about these times is that otherwise normal people are beginning to give in to violent ideation as a reaction to the violent actions they see around them, and sometimes give voice to it.

Just kidding. Violent ideation is bad, and has to be kept in check, but it hardly compares to the horrible, racist, xenophobic, narcissistic malice (and, face it, the amazing cowardly weakness that sees women and children refugees as a threat) that, finding itself with near-unlimited power, creates and enacts real violence against those with no power to resist.

So, it’s bad to wish harm upon an innocent, privileged and ridiculously-protected child (or Barron, for those who assumed I was speaking of Scott Pruitt), but if that’s where your concern lies, as opposed ton the children who have been taken, caged, maltreated, drugged without medical advice or supervision, and lost, your moral compass is broken or missing. If Peter Fonda is bad for wishing a thing on one person, what shall we think of the people who have conspired to do it to thousands?

Never mind. I forgot that most of these people have no problem being hypocrites, even in their own pseudochristianity.

But this is how tribalism in politics works. This is how it succeeds. Each and every one of Trump’s outrages incites violent fantasies, which then stirs emotions and reactions and false equivalency. This is also how authoritarianism works, how sectarianism works. Outrage leads to counter-outrage, which then leads those in power to seek “emergency” powers to control those who hate them.

I smell a Reichstag fire in the not-too-distant future.
