Philly dinner at Morimoto? anyone?

The famous Chef Morimoto (from Iron Chef) has a resturant on Chestnut St in Philly called…wait for it… Morimoto. :smack:

It seems to be a terribly overpriced, glitzy place but it could be a fun and memorable experience. The menu is mostly seafood, with some beef & teriyaki. Personally, I’m interested in the sushi (yum yum). From the prices it can easily be $50 per person, and that would be taking it easy. I’m willing to put aside the price just to eat at a place like this. I mean, the guy’s famous and he prepares food in his resturant.

So is anyone up for some over-spending Iron Chef style?

When are you thinking? Money’s been a little tight lately, so I’m not sure if Verrain and I would be able to handle quite that much unless it were a special occassion. (And we just had some people in town for my birthday so that was the special occassion of the month.)

However, even if we decide NOT to go to Morimoto, I’ve been thinking of trying to get us all together for a lower-priced dinner one of these nights. Get this bi-weekly Philly Dope Dinner thing off the ground.

Oooh, I wished I lived closer, just to GO to Morimoto. I saw a show on the design of the restaurant that really intrigued me. I hope the food is as good as the restaurant looks. Have fun!

One of my underlings went – said it was quite the experience.

I don’t do sushi, and I don’t do $50 dinners – but I’d be interested in something a little closer to my budget.

TruePisces if you and Verrain want to go I’ll buy you two dinner as your wedding present.

Let me run it by him tonight when he gets home and let you know what he says. But even the thought is very much appreciated.

Did he ever reply back to you about the PBeM game? I think he’s going to get the info out for starting some time this week, if you’re still interested.

Me too.

Still not over the “a”.

Needless to say, watcher, we’ll all have a hard time resisting the impulse to bold starting letters.

On the other hand, this might be the opportunity to flirt in person…

Apparently you’re having as hard a time over this as I, Twicks. As much fun as the flirtations have been, prudence would suggest that it stay here on the boards. You’re the best. SO’s would never understand…

Boohoo, you’re going to throw my bf back in my face? You’re no fun.

Didn’t mean it that way Twicks. Just that SO’s on both sides of the flirtation equation wouldn’t understand…

You’re still the best!

Enough of this. Hijack someone else’s thread.

[sub]Sorry, Frank![/sub]

Sorry Frank. Pleads temporary insanity over the closure of the “a”. Will get over it soon.

Oh, if anyone goes you must describe the experience in excruciating detail, pretty please. Especially if anyone tries the omakase. Ever since I watched the Food Network special on the opening of the restaurant I’ve been eager to go but I’m seldom in the vicinity.

Pretty please with sugar and a cherry on top?

OMG! I’m all about the sushi…I’d be willing to drive down from Wilkes-Barre to check this out if it all comes together. I’ll keep an eye on this thread for further developments.

Morimoto is a trip. It is $$$$$$$ but well worth it.

Frank, talked to Verrain last night, and he said thank you very much for your kind offer. We’d be up for it, if you’re sure you’d like to.

You’re a doll, you know that?

Oh, boy. I’m salivating just thinking about this.

Robin

Dude, I’m not only salivating, I’m thinking of moving back to Philly.
