Who’s up for a sushi dinner in Center City?
Even if you’ve never eaten sushi before, this is a great time to try. You’ll have several “sushi mentors” available. 
(I’m particularly thinking of Meros or Frank #2 here).
Restaurant suggestions welcome, too. I’m thinking Hikaru Sushi Bar, at 607 S. 2nd St. (near 2nd and South).
I’m thinking Friday, Jan. 30, at 6:30 or 7:00pm. Who’s in?

Giving this a bump since it was posted late last night.
Frank #2 and I have actually been kicking around the idea of a sushi night sometime soon, maybe the end of January. However, we were thinking about doing it up around Harrisburg way and hoping that Zappo would join us, since he promised me sushi after I recovered from my surgery. Whee!!
We don’t have any firm plans yet, I just thought I’d throw it out there as an option.
I’m not from or in Philly, but there is a place that does all you can eat sushi for $25.
I can’t remember the name of the place, but they do provide ‘inspirational music’ (i.e.: the 1812 overture) when getting down to those last few pieces.
I am from philly but I don’t know about eating raw fish. Plus, what do dopers talk about? “Hey, how about that silly Scylla guy, huh?..blimps!”…what??
Rooves, anything and everything. My observation has been that while the conversation will occasionally stray towards the SDMB or LJ it tends to move about in any of a million different directions depending upon the dopers involved.
There is cooked sushi BTW, so come on out.
What’s with all the fist chewing? This isn’t a cannibalistic dinner, it’s sushi. Raw fish, not raw flesh.
Something around the 30th is what we were thinking of, just not in Philly. We wanted to get out of the city since there’s several people living out in the sticks* and this would cut down on their travel time. We’ll give our resident Harrisburg sushi critic a kick in the rear to go find a doper-friendly sushi establishment.
Rooves, you can try the sushi but if you don’t like it, there plenty of options that do not have raw fish. Come on out anyway. The food may be cold but the company won’t be.
Why do you do these things now that I’m no longer living in Philly?

With about a week and a half to the planned date, anyone else in?
Unless we can get a ride, Harrisburg is out. I don’t get out of work until 5 and really can’t cut it any shorter. And the cost of the train out isn’t doable. But if some kind soul with offer Verrain and I a ride out, we’d be up for it.
Oh, and Esprix, I’ve told you and told you - it’s because you left too soon. I hadn’t gotten here yet.

In other news, I had just assumed I would be driving the two of you (and most likely also Cleophus) if y’all could make it. You should know by now that rides in the MerosMobile are a given when we’re headed to the same place.
