Why yes, I AM a Disneyland/Haunted Mansion junkie!

The only thing I can think of off-hand that the DL Magic Kingdom has that isn’t in WDW is the Indiana Jones ride. It’s pretty sweet, but they have a very similar ride (as far as the ride vehicle and design) in WDW (Animal Kingdom) called “Dinosaur”. It’s a good time, but not quite as cool as Indiana Jones.
Then, DL has “California Adventure”, but they were still building that last time I was there, so I haven’t been there. Just spent 5 days in WDW last week, though! Good times!!
The only problem I have with the Pirates of the Carribean movie is that I have always wanted to see a Secret of Monkey Island movie, and this looks like it’s got very similar ideas.
Otherwise, it looks like a fantastically fun movie.
I wonder if in the movie they’ll have drunk pirates chasing women round a fire during a rape and pillage scene? After all, they hadda go and excise it from the ride…
Manatee
read the thread carefully.
The Haunted Mansion Movie was brought up by you saying that the ride PotC has a plot but the Haunted Mansion did not have much of one.
I then pointed how the Phantom Manor (the Disneyland Paris counterpart) has a bit of a plot. Not much of one but a bit.
Then rjung said how he thought the jilted bride was at Disneyland (CA). I then said that it has been a while since I’ve been to Disneyland but I sure that DisneyWorld (FL) does not have the jilted bride ‘plot’.
I also have a ‘blue print’ of the Haunted Mansion ride that I want to get framed some day.
Directed by Ken Annakin, no less!
That’s pretty much the same reaction I had. I hate them for manipulating me like this…but they’re so good at it…
I knew “The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking” smelled familiar…
Back atcha:
You’re getting me right about their relative quantities of plot, but I didn’t bring up the movie; note how many people before my first post to this thread mention it. In fact, I’d never even heard of it before reading this thread! So how am I not reading the thread carefully?
And you’re absolutely right. Comparatively speaking, “Phantom Manor” has quite a bit of plot (certainly far more than the CA and FL "Haunted Mansion"s). So how am I not reading the thread carefully?
And this is all factually correct as well. So how am I not reading the thread carefully?
Now that would be cool! How’d you come across it? I’d love to have something like that (or the Temple of Mara map from the Indy queue).
I know this isn’t MPSIMS, but I have something mundane and pointless to share. My mom and her best friend took the train from NYC to LA when they were 18 years old and got jobs for Warner Brothers in Hollywood. They both ended up marrying bit actors. My mom’s marriage didn’t last long (just long enough to produce my sister), but her best friend’s husband was becoming pretty popular in movies until he dropped dead prematurely from a heart attack in his early 40s, I believe. Anyway, his voice was used in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Disneyland for the main pirate guy. All of a sudden I can’t remember the main pirate’s name OR the name of my mom’s best friend’s husband, who was British. Robert something.
Well I had everything right except the person I should have addressed the post to!
It was dantheman not you manatee that I ment to address that post towards.
mea culpa.

Are you talking about the one on the ship giving orders to fire a broadside into the town and then later is running the bride auction?
Cool-el!
Huh? All I did was ask why you thought Disney World had nothing on Disney Land.
You said:
Why would needing to read the whole thread carefully have anything to do with it?
What I ment was that DW didn’t have a thing about the bride and missing groom on the HM. I wasn’t making any sort of quality comparisons.
Oh and Manatee, Mrs Z got the blue prints from E-Bay.
Sorry, wasn’t clear from your post. Thanks for clarifying.
We now return to the discussion of the up-coming Pirates of the Carribean movie.
I think I should point out that Orlando Bloom is not playing a pirate in the film.
No, but he certainly swashes and buckles! Orlando and Johnny swinging their swords…
Sigh… who the hell cares if there’s a plot?!?
And besides, who DOESN’T want to see Johnny Depp singing “We pillage, we plunder, we rifle and loot…” ?!?
After seeing the trailer today… I don’t know. Depp or Bloom do nothing for me. Bruckheimer producing… Not a good sign. And zombie pirates? Geez. I like PotC (the ride as it is). Yes, it’s cheesy, but the camp way in which it’s done, with the lady chasing the pirate around the barrel, the snoring pigs… It’s all so cute.
It’s the downfall of the western civilisation, I tell you. First they took away the Tiki Room (best animatronics ever*), the the Country Bears and from what I understand, Space Mountain is being redone.
Hell, I want ‘Mission to Mars’ (chessiest ride ever) to come back. Enough of this Buzz LIghtyear Winnie T.P. Crap.
I ain’t gonna pay $10 to see Bruckheimer destroy yet another adoring Disney Feature (since the ride will be redone to fit the movie, I presume.)
*Where the birds sing words and the flowers croon, in the tiki-tiki-tiki-tiki-tiki-room.
NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Say it ain’t so!!!
I heard (this year) that The Tiki Room was back, with Iago from Aladdin hosting.
