Sometimes he’ll talk about music and music theory and he has complete understanding of a very complex topic. Yet he’s so bafflingly out of touch on just about everything else where he actually expresses an opinion. Can we get an anti-topic ban where he is limited to discussing only one thing?

Aces is convinced, absolutely convinced, that people regularly display their genitalia in the public area of a public restroom.
Here are some highlights
First, he refuses to believe that women ALWAYS close the doors to the stall when they are using the facilities.
Then he goes on and on about how he always strips down to his boxers at the public restrooms where he works, and how if an 8 year old girl wandered into the bathroom at his place of work, she might see his dick because his boxers gape open at the fly.

If you make it down to where he admits that maybe life was bad for the 1st generation slaves but by the 2nd and 3rd generation they were used to it, then I apologize for pointing you toward that fetid cesspool.

Is there a corollary of the Dunning-Kruger effect that addresses when intelligent people don’t realize that they are talking to idiots? I think that may apply here.

Maybe it helps I (like ace) grew up in Arkansas and surrounded by absolute idiots, but I have no problem believing ace isn’t actively malicious but really and truly simply that stupid and indoctrinated in his beliefs from a young age.
He basically reminds me of nearly all the people I grew up with from before grade school. And while some of that shit is deliberate from them, a lot more of it is an unflattering combination of total ignorance and utter inanity.
Yeah, it’s scary to think human beings can be that staggeringly stupid, but it’s something I’ve dealt with for decades, so it’s hardly flabbergasting at this point. The level of idiocy most people around here appear to estimate people can be and still function in society vastly overestimates the real figure.

But posters around here also seem to underestimate how much of that garbage is simply unquestioned as it is ingrained from a young age. People are surrounded by it from the time they are born.
That’s still a problem but not always a deliberate choice on their part. And when you add in the stupidity, they don’t even realize it is possible to think their way out of it.
So, yeah, I approve of the opprobrium. But I see it more as a distinction without meaningful difference. It doesn’t much matter in practical terms if it’s deliberate or not. If it was just a few idiots on the margin of society, it might matter. But there’s too many of them and it’s a real issue.
