My take is that he gets his information from the usual right-wing media bubble, which skews heavily pro-Russia these days. So he thinks he’s giving an informed take on current events in good faith without realizing that he’s actually just parroting nonsense he’s been fed by malign actors.

Yup, Joey owned Ace. That’s why I had to make the point that it took multiple posters pointing out the callousness to break though. Kenobi also had some choice words. That thread is what made me need to read and review this one.
Let’s just say that my comments to him were (a) out of character for me, but (b) as tactful as I could be, given that it was in CS. I must have been in a bad mood that night, because I had clearly had enough.
I remember his constant posting in the Gabby Petito thread, eagerly speculating over every bit of news as it came out. He seems to have this morbid fascination with celebrities and tragedy, and is willing to deem himself an expert on what must have happened.
He’s exactly the same in the Ukraine thread. Maybe it’s just tragedy in general that floats his boat.
I haven’t read the whole thread, and I don’t find it at all hard to believe that acey is a Russkie stooge, but the particular post you were replying to didn’t seem offensive. He just said “Putin calls the shots” while discussing peace negotiations, and it is certainly true that Putin has veto power over any potential peace treaty. Out of context it just sounds like he’s expressing pessimism about peace prospects because Putin is a pus-sucking psychopath, which is a perfectly practical perspective. (sorry, alliteration attack) He even found a relevant cite from a reputable source, which is damn near splitting the atom for acey.
As I said, it was a response to a bunch of his posts in the Ukraine thread.
I mean he didn’t seem to realize the Ukraine is in the Northern Hemisphere and yet he keeps making comments oddly supportive of Putin and Russia.
He should just stop.

All I can figure is that he confused north/south with east/west. Ukraine is significantly east of the U.S., which means the sun rises earlier and therefore it’s warmer. That’s how it works, right?

Maybe we should be grateful to have this pipeline to the wider (uncivilized) world’s take on one black star hitting another but smaller and lesser black star during a big star-studded industry extravaganza on live TV. Which apparently is: no biggie.

It so different from a traditional war where you push forward and the rear area is pretty safe. Like D-Day. Within weeks exhausted troops were rotating to the rear for R&R. Going into town, eating at French restaurants. Finding amore.

It’s a process. When a person has years of bad habits to change, he might slip back once in a while, letting what he really thinks pop out instead of the carefully constructed and blameless sentiments that he has been practicing so hard on.
