Thanks for the nightmare right before I need to go to work. I need 2-3 stiff drinks, stat.

Thanks for the nightmare right before I need to go to work. I need 2-3 stiff drinks, stat.
Me, too.
Yes. Evidently I wasn’t firing on all cylinders there.
If I ever leave … that’s probably what I’ll do too. But if someone cares that doesn’t seem like any sort of issue to me. I’ve been part of more tight knit board communities in the past on other boards, and I don’t judge people who are emotionally invested in their and others presence on this board.
Oh, and I don’t capitalize my nick, because the original was all caps.
I’ll say that I’ve taken breaks from the board a couple of times, including when I was miffed at one thing or another. It was a personal choice and I didn’t say anything, because who cares?
I don’t think anyone noticed me gone, and I didn’t expect anyone to. (Nor did I want anyone to, again it wasn’t a big deal.)
If I ever leave the board, I would like everyone to rend their garments and wail inconsolably. Just sayin’.
We do that already when we see you haven’t left yet.
I do not like bots. Yuk! Especially them nasty bot-flies.
But I’m ok with @bobot
Exactly! No one notices me when I am here so I don’t expect much when I am gone. If I started a new thread announcing my flouncing, it would get a grand total of zero responses.
Reading this thread raised an Important Question in my mind. What the @#$% does "flounce"mean, anyway?
So I looked it up.
from dictionary.com
verb (used without object), flounced, flounc·ing.
to go with impatient or impetuous, exaggerated movements: The star flounced out of the studio in a rage.
to throw the body about spasmodically; flounder.
noun
an act or instance of flouncing; a flouncing movement.
Further down was an alternate definition
noun
a strip of material gathered or pleated and attached at one edge, with the other edge left loose or hanging: used for trimming, as on the edge of a skirt or sleeve or on a curtain, slipcover, etc.
verb (used with object), flounced, flounc·ing.
to trim with flounces.
and then this
ABOUT THIS WORD
What else does flounce mean?
The internet slang term flounce means “to leave an online group in a dramatic manner,” and may or may not involve burning a few bridges or stirring the pot on the way out.
None of which is really appropriate for a pit thread, but I was bored.
Well, dang. I came here looking for a good, solid, two-fisted pitting (or is it pithing?) and what do I find: tea & cookies, cute wordplay, rainbows and bunny-hugs. What have you done with the real SDMB??
Yeah. Collectively, we’re coming across as slightly over-medicated right now.
Well, I guess it says good things about @bobot that other than being excessively harsh to @gdave’s goodbye (which he fully owned), that we only have minor quibbles to complain about.
Which goes to prove that a lot of people who find themselves in the Pit would, if they owned their own faults rather than trying to fight to the bitter end, would find themselves in a much better place.
So, rather than a traditional Pit thread, perhaps this is a test of a new, ‘kinder, gentler’ pit where we call people out for being a doofus and then they realize it and get friendly mocking until someone else screws up!
I pit ParallelLines for putting an extra “would” in this sentence.
Betrayed by a fellow double-majuscule!
(okay, I had that coming - sloppy proofreading is one of the cardinal sins here)
Fuck that nonsense.
Hey! It only works if the doofus in question is willing to own up. Which, in the Pit threads I’ve read, have been a tiny, tiny fraction, almost all of which end up going down the goofy ribbing like we get here.
There are plenty of on and off board assholes who will keep the OG pit in business until the board goes away and/or the Sun burns out - they’re a near endless source of facepalms and rage.
I wonder which of those events will happen first? Or will they happen simultaneously?
Not at all!! You would get at least some mocking.
