Please recommend a wii game

My household just got a wii and I’m digging it. My mii is adorable and I love playing tennis in my living room.

I’m finding it difficult to wade through all the reviews for wii games. They all seem to be very contradictory, so I thought I’d seek some more personal opinions. I tried to search for threads on this topic, but I’m coming up empty.

Generally, I like RPGs and puzzle games. I’m not a fan of shooters or war strategy, but my boyfriend is. Basically, I’m willing to give almost anything a try if it makes good use of the wii controllers.

I too am only a recent Wii owner and I’m leaning towards Paper Mario as my next game. My youngest brother owns it and the 30 minutes that I got to play it was just too much fun.

Don’t be tempted to get the Harry Potter game for the Wii. The control is horrible. I took my copy back and swapped it for the Xbox 360 version.

Too late.

I got it as a gift and we opened it last night.

I could not get anything to levitate properly. I’d gently try to float something down a hallway and it would either go crashing to the floor or zoom off toward the ceiling never to be seen again. I was really forlorn that I was such a shitty wizard.

Glad to know it’s not just me.

We just got a Wii 2 weeks ago, and my husband and I are both currently obsessed with Paper Mario. Go! Buy it! Now! The Wii controller is held sideways, which seems superbly weird, but it works really well. It has great classic platformer elements, but has a little RPG base to it that makes you want to keep coming back to it. Lots and lots of fun, and surprisingly challenging.

We also have Wario Ware which I really, really like. It shows off the Wii controller really well, and if you have a short attention span, man is that the game for you. The only weird thing is that I went in expecting it to be multi-player, but you don’t get the privilege of playing multi-player until you’ve beaten the game in single-player mode one. However, if you want to have friends over and show them the Wii really quickly, it’s the way to go.

Also, even though it’s $5, I really am glad we got the Internet channel. It seemed like a total rip off at first (I mean, they were giving it away and just started charging for it a month ago!), but it works much better than I expected. It’s based off of Opera, and renders most webpages just fine. As a matter of fact, I was surfing the Dope on it yesterday.

I don’t even own a Wii and I’ll say Raving Rabbbits! What an entertaining game.

Aaaaaaaand…I’m four minutes behind my wife trying to post the same info in this thread. This is what happens when we’re both able to Dope from work.

So, um…what she said.

(slight hijack) Looks like there are a few of us with new Wiis. Would it be a no-no to resurrect the old console code thread so we can share Miis?

Yes, I too was a virtual squib on the Wii and what’s the fun of that? I could never get Expelliarmus or Stupefy to cast properly.

When I lost a duel to Crabbe and Goyle, it was the last straw.

It’ll even run most versions of Flash, so you can play mouse-based webgames using the controller. It’s actually a lot of fun when you’re bored and just want to play some fiddly little games.

Super Paper Mario was totally worth it. It’s an excellent RPG. I also highly recommend the walkthrough bookie thingie for it. It gives some good advice and it’s fun to flip through.

Zelda Twilight Princess was work and the walkthrough book thingie that came with it was uber craptastic, but overall it was a good game with a good story. Just have lots and lots of patience.

Cooking Mama is a cute party game if you have guests over regularly.

I also absolutely LOVE Wii Play. Not only do you get a Wiimote with it, it has one of my fav games on it - find the Mii. That and the cow riding game is worth it when you have someone to race with

Paper Mario is good.
Zelda twilight princess is great.
Wario ware smooth moves is a real hoot. But it is short and does not have a lot of replay value for me.
Big Brain academy didn’t do much for me.
Mario Party is OK

I liked Super Swing Golf a lot, but you need to invest a lot of time in the beginning to unlock the characters and equipment; it’s a completely different game once you’ve unlocked some stuff.

I don’t know if it’s going to be released in the states, but there’s a game in Japan based on this animated show called Bleach. The dialogue is hilariously campy and the system assumes that you know a decent amount about the show… but once you overcome that, it’s an extremely fun fighting game.

I don’t know if it’s any good, but if the wii Trauma Center is even half as good as its DS progenitor, I’ll buy it in a minute.
