Poetry in Motion - Today's MMP

I have nothing useful to add, but I felt the urgent need to tell you that every time I see the thread title it causes me to sing She Blinded Me With Science.

Heh, no, not shaving hair, Mika. They have this razor thing that shaves off your dead skin. It’s kinda gross, admittedly, but it feels good afterwards.

{{{Ivory}}}

I’m forgoing the butterscotch cake for now - I’ll make it when it’s not a birthday thing and then I won’t care as much if it’s not so pretty. Instead I’m going to make these. Birthday Girl doesn’t like chocolate so that’s making the decision on what kind of cake to make that much harder. But she does like blueberries, and I checked with a friend, and she does like lemon. And I know from past experience that she likes cream cheese frosting so I think we have a winner!

And I think I’m going to start keeping notes on who likes what so it’s easier next time. If I’m making a birthday cake for someone, I want to know it’s something they like, but I don’t like having to ask them every time. I really like it when people make their preferences known - one of my coworkers regularly says how much she likes a pumpkin cake I made last fall and asks when I’m going to make it again (immediately followed by saying she can’t eat any until after August anyway… some sort of diet thing… you have to know her to understand that she’s not being annoying… she’s extremely funny in a say-exactly-what-you’re-thinking-at-all-times kind of way.). I like that because I know if I need to make a cake for her, I’ll make the pumpkin cake. Done. No worrying about whether the recipient is going to like it or not because I know she will. More people should be that open. Makes life simpler.

Mousie, one of my good work-friends is headed to comic con this weekend too! She’s dressing up and everything. Not my thing, but it definitely sounds interesting.

Gah! I’m messing with my and trying to get a new template, and blogger gives me error messages. Telling me I have to wait. Grrr. I hate waiting. I’m so not patient. And my blog looks all funny now, not cute like it usually looks!

Linky, please? As I said, I do get lots of dry/dead skin on my feet, especially in the summer.

I just got a Ped-Egg. It works great! I’ve tried lots of different files, and this one is very easy to use.

I never wear shoes and have terrible calluses and cracking. Eww! :smiley:

I bought mine at Walgreen’s for $10.

Mika are you in the U.S.? You can get a callous shaver at any drug store/Target/Wal-Mart in the health and beauty department. You soak your feet for about ten minutes to soften the dead skin and then run the razor blade over the calloused part of your foot. Most of them look like this. IIRC, mine was less than $10 and came with replacement blades.

ETA: I’ve heard great things about the Ped Egg, Rebo, but have yet to try one.

Howdy, everybody. We got home from the pow wow late last night. What an absolutely amazing, fascinating weekend! I took a zillion pictures, and even a few videos if I can figure out (a) how to get them off my camera and (b) where to post them online. Anyway, I’ll [del]bore[/del]entertain you with the whole story in next week’s OP.

Speaking of OPs, lovely OP, Meeks! Why is it again you feel you need to go? For the price of one movie+snack, you get the delights of our company all day every day! Why do so many people have principles that seem to require them to abandon our wonderful Dope? :frowning:

{{SoapyParents}} Good thoughts headed their way!

I’ve skimmed the MMP but haven’t retained much else. Except for Haze’s massage chair. :eek: What will people think of next??

I need to caffeinate some more. I am still zombified from the weekend. Ta for now, and I’ll be back once the brain functions again. If it ever does, that is. :rolleyes:

Ped-Egg is da bomb, I bought one a couple weeks ago and it’s taken off so much callus from my feet it’s incredible. I have this one spot where the callus is pressing on a toe joint and it hurts to stand on a firm surface without shoes–I’m Ms Barefoot so that ain’t happenin’ and the Ped-Egg is taking that mess right down to nothing.

I ate too much banana bread right before bed and woke up with heartburn, bleah! I should know better than to eat something like that so late, especially with butter on it. If I don’t watch out I’m gonna have gall bladder problems some day.

Heading over to da Pit to see Bobbio’s rant–I’m so witya on this one, those effers cavalierly deny legit claims all over the place and then they think it’s okay to micromanage your life? Bull-SHIT! Jerks.

I will go looking for one today!

Here’s a Sephora link, Mika:

Lovely MMP. I’m not huge on poetry, but this is pretty stuff.

Hope your parents get better quickly, Soapy.

The Banana bread recipe up there looks yummy SmartyPants. I usually add cranberries to mine also though, makes a nice tart contrast to the sweetness of the bread.

Went for a long drive on the weekend, hit the lake and had some fun, but I dented my car on a Wal-mart cart corral (just the side, but it sucks). :frowning: And then last night some punk kids tried the doors on my car. Mom spotted them, because she saw the lights on in my car (the headlights/interior come on when you pull the handle since I have it turned on). Didn’t see anything wrong when I went out to look last night but this morning I see a dent right in the middle of the hood of my car like someone planted their ass there. :frowning:

I’ve just skimmed, but wanted to add my best get well wishes for **Soapy’s ** parents.

Fingers crossed for FCDaughter’s interview. I hope she gets the job.

I’m sorry you lost a patient, Bobbio.

My day has been incredibly shitty, and it’s only 10:02 am.

Some of you may remember that I mentioned I was having problems with my power windows in the Expedition. The passenger side window had been wonky for awhile, but since I could still open it from the driver’s side, I was trying to put off putting into the shop until I went on vacation. This last weekend, the driver’s side window started acting up. We finally got the window up and I had an appointment to drop the Expedition off at the dealer this coming Friday.

This morning, however, I had a stupid moment and unrolled the window to show my CAC and hospital badge to the gate guards on my installation. I couldn’t get the damn window back up to save my life. I just totally forgot about the window being screwed up. Well, let me amend that. I remembered as soon as the window was down. :smack: :frowning:

I spent the drive to the parking lot of the hospital and another 35 minutes in the parking lot trying to get that damn window back up. No friggin’ dice. I called the office from the parking lot and told them that since I couldn’t secure my vehicle, I wasn’t going to come in. I came home, called the dealership, drove down there and am hoping they can get it fixed today. If not, I’ll have to leave it overnight.

If I have to leave it overnight, I’m going to have to see if I can catch a ride to work with someone tomorrow. The only person in my office who lives near me is my boss, and she was talking about taking tomorrow off.

I am incredibly annoyed right now. I didn’t want to use any leave.

I enjoyed the poems, Meeks.

::zoooooooooooooooooooom::

::SCREEEEEEEEEEEEECH::

::tosses out some hugs, kisses, boos, noogies, hi’s and byes to be distributed as needed::

Work is kicking my ass, back to my spreadsheets I go. Oy.

Soapy, hope your folks are doing better real soon. Good vibes are going out for the whole Ivory Clan.

::waves::

::zoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom::

Bobbio, cheer up! I sent you a joke in post #36. :smiley:

But but but, you replied to MY attempts to be funny.

BTW, I luuuuuuurves me a chance to rattle cages like my pitting of Blue Cross. I’m in a great mood today… :wink: :smiley:

I want to go home and play the game I have been working on.

I went home and got my bike at lunch, cause, why not? I have actually been missing riding it.

Ugh. Is the week over yet? I have to sign contracts and such since my boss is out. I don’t want that responsibility…

Also, my head hurts—Mahna2 my spreadsheets are kicking my ass today too.

Spent 7 hours at the office after pulling my (almost) all-nighter (90 minutes of sleep).

Went home, ran some errands, crashed for another 90 minutes.

Connected to office again, working from home… :smack: I’m hoping to get to sleep by 1 or 2 AM tonight… Thus is life on the edge of a late project facing delivery :o

**Bobbio **-- I’ll read your pit later… no time!

**Flutter **-- sucks about the car :frowning: I’ve had my cars burgled twice in the 25 years I have been driving, and I’ve always lived in relatively “good” neighborhoods. Not even mentioning the countless scratches, dents and broken plastic/Bakelite parts… Seems like there are punks everywhere! :mad:

Love the poetry you keep posting, **Meeks **-- and “well done” on the biking, too!!

Assorted yays, boos, trouts etc. to all and sundry.

Continued good wishes for your parents, Ivory.

And “hi, Roo!” – just so you don’t claim I’m neglecting you :slight_smile:

Continued good thoughts and prayers goin’ out to the Soapy 'rents.

So, on the weekends BBBobbio doesn’t take his meds cause he does not purtify. Thus, on the weekends BBBobbio is all gross and stanky so he doesn’t need the meds cause he’s so gross even the germs won’t get near him. :smiley: BTW, good rant!

I’s tahred! However, Ima go cook dindin cause I’s also hongry.

Cubed steak and’ gravy, smashed N.O.T., fresh peas, steamed squash and biscuits. MMMMMMMM… can’t wait!

Later Y’all!
