Poll for engaged, married or formerly married dopers:

Not really sure of the exact numbers but I think we dated about 18 months before getting engaged (we moved in together during that time) then were engaged for about a year until we got married. I was 29 when we got married.

Met at 21 and 24. Living together within a week, though I kept paying my half of the rent on my place until the lease expired. Lived together for a couple years before we got around to getting married: no engagement, no ceremony–just “Hey, we need to get married because I’m to old to be ocvered by my parent’s insurance.” “Ok, but I want stainless steel wedding rings” A week passes “Ok, I found some. Let’s go to the courthouse Friday” “Ok”.

Married five years. Idyllically happy.

a) We were together for ten months (all in a long-distance relationship), married a year later, we’ve been married for a little over a year now.

My second anniversary is in 17 days!!!

We dated for about two years before I found out I was pregnant; that prompted us to live together. Our first daughter was about one and a half when we got engaged. We had a ten week engagement (mostly because my mom was terminally ill, and I wanted to get married while she was still alive to see it). We got married the day after my 27th birthday, he was 28. In November, we will celebrate our 17th anniversary.
