Portlandia returns tonight

On IFC, if you’re a fan.

The DVR is already set.

I’m a season behind as I watch it on Netflix, but enjoyed the first couple episodes of season 2 so far. I find it very funny. Read a recent interview with Fred Armisen and season 3 sounds even better.

I have to say that I was surprised at how much seeing Kurt Loder and Tabitha Soren again affected me. It looks like they’ve aged twenty years in, well, the twenty years since I last saw them.

Pinfield looks the same. He’s always looked like he’s about 39. Probably always will.

They showed both ep 1 and 2 last night. I thought they were far better than pretty much anything in season two, with some truly funny bits. That whole bit with the natural products (are you watching, Tom’s of Maine?) was hilarious.

In case it helps anyone … there was an ep 1 a week ago and my Channel guide is referring to these as 2 and 3.

Kurt Loder is 67. He’s SIXTY SEVEN!! Older than my dad!

Two of the best episodes ever, IMO. I am just all kinds of happy Portlandia is back.

Dammit! I just checked the DVR and somehow they didn’t get recorded! WTF?

I also thought the new season started this weekend. Got all messed up.

Anyway …

Watched the first episode “Winter in Portlandia”. The opening sketch was dead on. “Yes, you have a car and you exist.”

The weird recording studio guy who was obsessed with Pet Sounds? I knew this guy. Looked and talked just like him. Eerie.

So Jack White is some sort of silent messiah or something?

Gaffigan! Outlets! Unsweetened maple syrup!

“You’re probably the least productive person in the office anyhow.”

I thought Tabitha Soren looked great!

Oh, don’t misunderstand me. She is a very attractive 45-year-old woman. What affected me was the realization that she is now a 45-year-old woman. It’s like going to your high school reunion and being amazed at how everyone has aged, and realizing they’re thinking the same thing about you.

After the last episode my wife looked at me and said “it’s slipping.” I agree. Only so many times you can make fun of hipsters, hippies and yuppies before it gets old.

I reallly enjoyed the first few episodes.

We thought Roseanne was excellent as the temp Mayor. Her opening remarks to her temp agency about being tired of having to fill in for water board vacancies was a direct jab at the Clackamas County Water Board fiasco/soap opera.

Me too. But when the crab says, “Bull-*Sheeeeeeeeee-ta!” *I laughed outloud!

Last night’s ep was pretty lame, although the woodworker had my laughing.
