I used to have a Porsche 911SC.
I wish I had it back.

I’d track down my first car, a black 1991 Volvo 240, or one just like it. Then I’d make it a sports car.
I recall it seeming surprisingly small. Not a lot of physical presence. The GT40 seemed bigger (although shorter) and the 80’s Testarossa seemed to dwarf it.
From the same guy’s garage.
Here’s what I want:
Get rid of all the extra complexity inherent to modern cars. I don’t want automatic door closers and the like. In fact, I don’t want any automation other than basic cruise control.
Can it be painted Sedona Orange Metallic:)?
Electric, and ideally self-driving.
If money were no object I would want something like an Audi R8 as a daily driver, not too wild looking but very fast and luxurious. V10 engine, 612 horsepower, all wheel drive.
I’m going to give the most “car guy” response possible:
There’s no way in hell I can choose, so I’m not even going to try.
I’d probably get one of those cool looking luxury cars from the 20s or 30s, before they figured out aerodynamics.
I love any number of old cars. They just excite something in me that no new cars do. New cars are all pretty much appliances.
My favorites are 69-72 A-bodies - probably a 69 Cutlass. But there are so many other old cars I’d love to drive.
I recognize that those are not the most reliable/safest/most comfortable daily drivers. So I’d want to pair that with a dependable appliance.
This, ever since 1989. It was also the blueprint for all modern hypercars - composite chassis, integrated all-wheel-drive, stability and brake balance systems, the first series production twin turbocharged engine, and so on.
Electric and self-driving. (So, “Something else”.)
Preferably something designed along the lines of this bad boy, so clearly I’m stylin’.
I have three and all are basically historical/classic and one I actually kinda owned.
1958 Edsel Pacer. Mine I did as a low-rider complete with tan shag, dingo-balls and giant dice. Sold it to a couple guys from Jersey back in the 1980s. I always wanted to do another but as a full-blown hot-rod with the aftermarket 5 speed manual tranny. Who knows? I may actually do it one day.
A pre-war Crawford
a mid-to-late 60s McLaren
One that runs on sunlight even at night.
I’ve re-thought it. I want an Oscar Meyer Wienermobile. The electro-autonomous version so we can screw in back.
Bite your tongue!
No, really, I’m going to bite your tongue.
Gah! Rosso Red or nothing for you , Bex!
Look – its a Goat. A rather nice Goat but still a Goat. I would go with whorehouse purple (flake) and pussy pink (pearl).
I actually painted a Skyliner those colors. It was an improvement. :smack:
1986 F-150 with couple of minor dents.
If I could write a note to my younger self, I would say: Don’t sell the Chevy. The Cubans will be able to keep these cars going for like 70 years, you can too.
Or maybe it’s just nostalgia. But it had a place for my cat to sit above the dashboard. It had bench seats so I had a place to put my handbag even if I had a passenger. It was fast. It was pretty. It was comfy to drive in for hours and I could fit a lot of people in there.
It was my mother’s old car; I didn’t know it was going to be a classic.
But if I had all the money in the world I would need a horse trailer because I would have a couple of polo ponies, hence my vote.
