Preferred kind of dream car

Hey, so did I! Really, if doing it again (and I wouldn’t) I’d go with a longhood SWB, so 1966-1968. It still kills me that I passed on a black over red '68 for $15k, just a few years before prices exploded on early 911s.

But it’s an Italian Goat… The Pontiac version I completely agree on however. even Sedona Orange… In metyal flake.

I said other. A big problem with paying loads of money for a car is that you have to spend loads more money keeping it nice. Is a regular maintenance budget included with the free car?

1956 Thunderbird hardtop convertible with the opera window.

I dare you!
:stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, I’d have to run with this also.
although a short list in no particular order…

  1. Miura Jota (there was only ever one prototype made, and it ended in a fiery death)
  2. Exige
  3. Rangie Sport
  4. That 6 wheel drive AMG beast
  5. Classic 60s American Muscle

Pfft! What you doin’ in December? My teeth should be ready by then. But I dunno want to taste no ‘Deer Camp’ bullshit.

My 4th grade teacher had one of those, drove it to school every day.

A medium-sized AWD luxury car, from a reliable brand, so probably a Lexus. All the interior bells and whistles.

In my 20s I dreamed about old muscle cars, but now I just want a comfortable car that’s safe in all weather, easy to drive, easy to park, and reliable. Maximize all those characteristics and that’s my dream car.

Somewhere, I have a brochure for 1969 Porsche 911s. I’ve always thought it would be nice to have one of those. But to me, the 911SC is ‘the’ 911. It had the kind of cockpit I’m used to (center console, etc.), it had the 3-litre engine so it was more powerful than earlier models, it had the rear fender flares that I liked, and it still said ‘911’ on the engine cover (as opposed to ‘Carrera’). Some people don’t like the flares, and more people don’t like the heavy bumpers. I do. Maybe I’ll have to get a 911SC and a '69. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d get a minivan - probably a Honda Odyssey with all the goodies. I loved my Aerostar and flat wore it out. I can’t justify the expense of owning or operating a minivan, especially as I’m approaching retirement. But based on “money is no object” this is my choice.

Yeah, I know, I’m boring.

I’ve changed my mind. I’ll take a Gama Goat with a lifetime service contract. And a hot tub in back.

YES! I love those things.

Can I choose a loaded RV?
I don’t care what brand or color. I just want all the good stuff in it.

If money was no concern and I wasn’t rational, I’d like to have either a Alfa Romeo Gulia or a BMW 507, because they’re both so damn pretty and should be fun to drive, but for everyday use I would be content with a compact electrical car with at a range of at least 400 kilometers.

Come to think of it, maybe I need seven Porsches.
[ul][li]1955 550 Spyder replica, silver (one of the aluminum-body $400,000 exact replicas, not a VW-powered fiberglass replicar);[/li][li]1965 356C Cabriolet, pale yellow;[/li][li]1969 911T coupé, red;[/li][li]1974-1976 911S Targa, dark metallic green;[/li][li]1983 911SC coupé, white[/li][li]1998 911/993, Racing Yellow;[/li][li]2020 911 Carrera, dark metallic blue[/ul][/li]
But I’d settle for having my white 911SC back.

My pick. 1973 Firebird Formula 455 with the Super Duty engine. Gobs of torque in a low compression high performance engine that runs on unleaded gas. No ‘screaming chicken’ decal on the hood so it’s a bit of a sleeper and ultra rare only 43 made.

(I listed it as classic as opposed to “muscle car” to separate it from today’s muscle cars)

Get it in Hunter Green, and you’d have the car John Wayne drove in McQ.

I’ve often wondered what car was substituted for the smash up between the two semi tractors.

Correction: ‘Brewster Green’.
