hey everyone. maiden here. **purplebear, bluebear ** and I made it home safe. We had a great time at RenFest and might just do it again next year.
Troubleagain just wanted to send a personal thanks for inviting Dan. He is a sweet guy and I enjoyed my time with him. 
Lurker, it was great meeting you and cant wait to see you again. You were everything I thought you would be and more. Hope to have you in my life for along time.
TP forgot to wish you happy birthday. so here it is late, but meant with good intentions. it was nice meeting you.
All the other dopers that I didnt get to meet <that made me sad.
One last thing, lurker, forgot to say thanks for lunch. Wish we could of spent more time together, but there is always another time. You are a sweet man. and your sig is not you.(nor is it true)

And for all of you lurkers to this thread, I realize that much is being ‘said’ that won’t make sense to anyone not there. Please forgive, as it wouldn’t be appropriate to spread some things to the board. Still, I wanted to make some things known to the people involved. Just want to say to Maidenunicorn and Purplebear that sig was actually from something before you gracious ladies arrived. The gravedigger character outside the main gate said that to me.
FYI - True Pisces wanted me to post that she will be housesitting for her brother for the next week or two, so her attendance will be spotty. Her bosses are unaware of the enlightenment of the boards, and they are verboten. She will be back soon.

And, screech-owl, I’m so sorry that I missed you and Cyndar there. I wouldn’t have known you if I tripped over you, I’m afraid. I was the one in the lavender sweater, jeans, glasses, and the long blonde hair that kept getting in my eyes. I really hope to meet you next time I get that way. Or, of course, you can always come experience our Texas hospitality.
I’d forgotten how slow my brother’s machine is when I promised him I’d housesit while he’s out of town for three weeks. Luckily, one of those three was the week I was out of town, so I’m only stuck on molasses for 2 weeks. Grrrr…
Anyway, I wanted to thank everyone who showed up for the DopeFest at RenFest. It got a little hectic trying to actually find people at times, but getting to meet and get to know everyone was well worth it!
I tried to take notes, but if there was one thing I learned it was the RenFest is NOT the place to take notes at. (That, and don’t ever give your best friend your notebook to hold, because invariably she’ll leave with it in her backpack!!! )
So, just some surface thoughts…
TroubleAgain - You, m’dear, are the greatest! The sign was awesome, and thank you for getting the buttons! You brought some cool people along to hang out with us, and my biggest regret was not getting a chance to talk more. You knew all the coolest shows to see and made the day worth while. Thank you!
elmwood - I wish I’d had more of a chance to talk with you, too… But I was glad you came, and glad to sit next to you during the show… Its great to have someone cool to laugh with!
SanibelMan - YOU must be lying about your age. You certainly don’t act it! I’m glad you got a chance to hang around with us a little, and I meant what I said about us getting together some time. Maybe Punta Gorda or Fort Myers?
screech-owl - I’m sorry we lost you! We were standing there, and I turned around and you were gone! But the brief time talking outside and once we got in the gates makes me sure that we need to do this again some time!
maidenunicorn41 - Don’t worry about wishing me a late birthday… we all had other things on our minds. And you’re still ahead of most of my family! It was nice meeting you, though.
purplebear - Thank you for everything through the whole weekend. I can never forget, and never repay, what you did for me. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me, and letting me get to know you. The award isn’t given lightly. I am so very glad you made it down.
and last, but certainly not least, lurker - Thank you for flying 1200 miles to meet a friend. The whole week went far better than I could have ever expected, and you are everything I thought, and more. Don’t doubt it. With this visit, you’ve solidified a friendship for life. Oh, and thank you so much for not screaming out “He shot his load” during the sword show. Having Carm’s “No pants” comment on one side was bad enough!
Collectively, you all made me glad to have asked for people to get together for this. I’m not taking any credit, other than for the initial idea. Everyone else did the rest.
And I should have pictures, hopefully in the next week or so. I’m sending 3 rolls of film out to Photoworks tomorrow, so I should (hopefully) have them viewable/downloadable by the end of the week. And then, hopefully, I’ll have a chance to set up a page so all you slackers who didn’t come will get to see what you missed!

I do want to say “I’m sorry” for my early departure. I headed off to the jousting event after some wandering around, hoping to see youse guys. I looked and looked and looked some more, but all I saw were strangers.

I’ve finally gotten my pictures developed from the DopeFest at RenFest earlier this month. I threw them up on a quicky website so everyone can see the fun that they missed. The site itself is nothing special (and, truth be told, neither are the pictures!), more a place to display some of the shots I took at the Festival.
