Was anybody else shocked that Marla squeaked through another week?
Completely. I thought she was a goner for sure. After that copycat dress she ought to have been gone. Not only did she copy the dress, she made it uglier. I like her as a person but it’s clear she’s just not remotely in the same league as nearly all the other contestants.
Guadalupe’s dress was ugly but at least it was interesting.
I’m also irritated that Santino won. He’s such a jackass. The only other person I hated as much as him this time was Nicky Hilton. She and her idiot sister Paris should just go away. I’m sick of their collective media whoring.
My personal favorites of the evening were Daniel and Andre. I thought both of their dresses were very pretty. Chloe’s looked a little too much like win from the “Clothes Off Your Back” challenge.
YES! And I’m STILL angry about it. Yes, Lupe’s dress was fugly, but at least she’s creative. GAH!
I worry about next week…
I would have liked to have seen Daniel Franco design for this challenge.
I’ve decided that if I ever meet Santino in life, I’m going to think very hard about kicking him in the face. I probably wouldn’t, since he’s tall and I’m short and my leg just wouldn’t reach unless I got him to bend over or I was standing on a chair. In my opinion, he should have been out after the lingerie challenge instead of Daniel. Santino’s designs were just tacky and campy. You can only throw so much ruching on something before it looks like Martha Stewart dropped acid before decorating a wedding cake.
And I hate the way Santinokeeps slagging the other competitors. He’s such a little bitch. Another thing he needs to learn how to do is freaking hem something or finish an edge. There’s deconstruction and then there’s adding trim all slapdash. That is but one in the long list of reasons I vastly prefer Emmett to Santino. Or any of the other designers, really.
My personal favorite out of all the designers is probably Diana. I realize she probably won’t win, but I’ve liked all of her designs. They’re innovative in a way that Guadelupe’s try to be but aren’t.
It seems like it’s going to be Chloe/Nick/Santino.
I like Nick. In the rerun, I even liked Nick’s horrible lingerie the best out of the idiotically ugly lingerie by Santino line. I figured out that I don’t like Chloe’s model. Or, she looks odd in Chloe’s clothing. Or something just doesn’t seem to work right. (Marla’s model is also a disaster, but then, so is Marla. I liked it better when they could switch models.)
The winner can switch models, so there’s that motivation, too.
I was shocked that Marla survived. Obviously she won’t last long. But it was just a matter of time for Guadalupe anyway. She may be creative but her stuff isn’t good. Her stuff always has a Punk aesthetic that isn’t always appropriate. Nicky Hilton isn’t Punk so a party dress for her shouldn’t have that much crap on it. And that stupid unattached tube-sock sleeve she’s used more than once is UGLY.
But Guadalupe wasn’t alone in making crap this time. Marla, obviously, won’t cut it much longer. Zulema’s dress was awful and could have sent her home if the other two hadn’t been even worse.
I really like Diana’s, or at least the top part of it. The skirt hurt it overall, though. I hope she lasts until Fashion Week; but she doesn’t really have a chance of beating Santino or Nick.
For this challenge, I think Andrae’s dress was a contender and quite possibly should have won. I like the idea of the material he used. It would stand up to a real night of Hilton partying.
Nick, again, make a great dress. I liked his most of all, but I just like stuff cut on a bias. He’s a bit like Jay last year in that he doesn’t win every competition but is always a contender. That gives him an edge because he’s always remembered as good but never bad. Santino alternates between excellent and awful, so that can end up hurting him.
Kara and Chloe’s dresses are mundane but good enough. Kara’s was a bit too baby-dollish for my tastes. Chloe’s was a bit too plain.
Santino’s win is not too big of a shock, though. His was a good, if not great, design and he made a good impression on Nicky at the party. He’s got skills, even if his personality grates. If he was the man we wanted, he wouldn’t be the man he is.
I’m still picking Nick to win.
I thought it was hilarious that Chloe informed Nicky that Nicky is “used to wearing expensive clothes, and silk charmeuse looks expensive.” HA! Lots of social missteps in this episode, but it indeared me to a lot of them even more.

I was surprised Marla wasn’t aufed. Fugly/creative should win out over fugly/copycat. Marla is this season’s Wendy Pepper (only more sane). She’s advanced this far only because other designers are presenting something worse. Let’s hope the judges have learned her lesson and will put her and us out of our miseries and can her soon.

Tim Gunn usually nails his assessment really early in the designing process. Marla needs to listen to him.
I’ve got to get over my rooting for the underdog habits. 'Cause Marla’s dress was really ugly and her model is a disgrace.
But Guadalupe’s dress was ghastly. Before they started, I thought, “Oh this one will be sad because everyone will design great dresses but someone will still leave.” What a stupid worry!
I thought Emmett’s design looked ugly at the party and really pretty on the runway. Did he change something?

What bugs me most about Santino is that when he speaks, the windows in my house tremble. His deep, deep voice really hurts my ears.
That, and you can hear the saliva move around in his mouth as he talks. It icks me out, big time. If he wasn’t such an overbearlingly egotistical ass, I’d be willing to overlook it, I suppose, but ugh.
