Project Runway 1/9 "What a Girl Wants" SPOILERS

I damn near screamed for the last 5 minutes because it was so… Wrong. WRONG. WRONG!!!

Sweet P deserved the win because VictorYa’s dress was the epitome of tacky fug. Awful! Fake rhinestones on that damn ubiquitous choker collar looks rich? Since when? When the judges were praising it I couldn’t believe my ears. What is Victorya’s problem with the female form? Either she’s flattening titties or making baggy evening wear. Terrible. Sweet P’s was hot and clearly the best thing to go down the runway tonight IMO. So wrong.

The auf’ing was wrong too. Ricky deserved to go this time. Has he ever made something praiseworthy? His dress was boring, badly made, ugly, and not prom-like at all. Sure, Kevin’s was tacky, but I can’t tell you how many prom dresses I saw just like it when I chaperoned prom a few years ago. That dress would have raised nary an eyebrow, despite being a bit risque. Just inexplicable to me. Poor Kevin. I thought he had a few more designs in him. And Ricky got the Auf Edit too, with his call to his mama. Damn.

And yes, Christian’s dress was, as he said, “tickety tackery,” and it looked like crap, but I wanted to slap the hell out of his model too. She was as bratty as he is (and there’s only like 4 years between them in age, right?), but with worse taste and not funny. In fact, I think I turned the corner on Christian this week because he was hilarious in his queen, bitchy prom angst despair. The only part of the show I enjoyed was his drama princess whining; it was partially schadenfreude, but I take my laughs where I can get them. I’m glad he wasn’t auf’ed because I would have missed him.

Rami’s was fine. Their criticism of him was bullshit IMO. Sure, it was old for a 17 year old, but it was well-made and looked cool. Jillian’s was not well-fitted in the chest; she and Victorya both have a problem fitting tits. I wish it would come back at them, but they are judge’s pets, so I guess they can do no wrong. If it’s those two fembots and Rami in the Final 3, that will be soooo boring.

To me, Kit and Chris had the best dresses this week, along with Sweet P, and they got the pass. I don’t get it. Ah well. Maybe I will never understand fashion :frowning: .

I couldn’t believe the way Victorya’s dress flattened that poor girl’s boobs down to nothing. And that godawful cheap tacky rhinestone shit – the judges must be smoking crack or something! Nasty, nasty! Sweet P totally had a better dress; her dress was gorgeous, fit like a dream, and was something suitable for anyone from 17 to 77.

I thought Ricky’s dress was hideous. The color looked kind of like baby vomit, and the fit was atrocious, particularly that ill-conceived and poorly executed ruching across the bust.

But the kiss of death for Kevin was the failure to finish the hem. He was warned and warned and warned, but did he listen? Nooo. I don’t think he deserved aufing for it; Ricky definitely was the worst, IMO.

I thought Christian’s anguish was hilarious. And I loved everyone’s prom pictures! And Sweet P’s refusal to discuss what happened at her prom. Hee! Reminds me of my own – I don’t talk about that, either!

I agree that Chris should have had the win, though. His dress was amazing! The color just leaped off the runway; the fit was wonderful, and the finishing was a dream. I honestly don’t know how he and Rami are able to finish garments as well as they do in the time they have available – just oodles of talent, I suspect. Clearly, when he dials his costume style back, Chris is a real contender.

My favorite part was when they were talking in the sewing room, and one of the designers – Kit, maybe? – was talking about how awful it was to be up for aufing, and Chris pipes up, “I WAS voted off, remember?”

I’m pulling out my hair, not only because they sent Kevin packing, but because of Bravo’s screwball scheduling of running the show back to back, so when the PVR started recording, the first thing I saw was Kevin packing up and turning off the light.* Nooooo!!!*

This means no more shirtless Kevin! I’m appalled. Although tonight, the bf and I finally made our “winner” predictions - he picked Kevin, whom I discounted because the token straight boy won last season. Much ribbing at the end of the episode. Heh. Bf lost already.

The only dress I liked was the one made by Chris. The judges must be smoking crack.

It wasn’t just me. That dress had anti-boobs. She made the poor girl concave. It was horrible looking.

I also didn’t agree with the “too sophisticated” thing they kept throwing around. Isn’t prom where you do try to look sophisticated? I didn’t think any of them were dressed as though they were 70. Kevin’s was fine. (I didn’t like Rami’s asymmetry, but it was fine.) Ricky or Christian absolutely should have gone.

Kit’s model looked stiff (and the hair was too severe) and I think that hurt what was a very nice dress. I liked the idea of Jillian’s, but it was dull. Chris also deserved better.

Kevin’s dress absolutely sucked. It looked like I could have picked it up at Deb’s. That said, Ricky’s dress sucked equally, and what exactly is it going to take to get rid of him? Do the judges consider body of work at all? Because Kevin has done some great stuff, and Ricky has done a couple of things that were adequate to keep him out of the bottom three.

Christian’s dress was a hot mess, and it was annoying as hell that he blamed his model. Sure she was a pain in the ass, and I understand that he thinks he’s too good to make prom dresses for chubby teenagers from Jersey, and he’s 21, so I give him a bit of a pass, but seriously… how could he not realize how utterly wrong the proportions of that were going to be on her? Girl’s got back, honey… a little extra fabric is in order.

I really liked Kevin, and I love Christian, too (he is, after all, kind of a big deal), so when it got down to the bottom three and we remembered that Rami had immunity, a great howl of despair went up in my house.

I suspect that Victoria loves clothes mostly as a method of oppressing people, because she really *hates * people. Sweet P deserved the win. Chris deserved to be in the top scorers, as did Kit. Jillian’s dress was surprisingly badly executed. She may not be Miss Personality, but I think she’s very talented, and this was a rare misstep for her. Rami’s dress was Rami. With the exception of the candy dress, he doesn’t wow me. His stuff is pretty, exquisitely made, and boring as hell.

When I saw Chris’s dress, my immediate thought was “I’d love to wear that.” Sweet P’s was next, and while I liked Victorya’s, I’m not real fond of short prom dresses. As for bad, I thought Christian’s was awful, but no way were they going to kick him off. I do agree that the red was a bad choice for Kevin’s model, and that Rami’s green was not the best color choice either… but I really didn’t want Kevin to go. I didn’t think Ricky’s was awful enough to get him booted, but I’d have been pleased to see him go just so the waterworks would finally come to an end.

As for Christian’s model… I think she is in for a rough time now that the episode has aired. Not only will it shoot her “I’m a fashion designer” thing to all hell, but the episode makes her look pretty hard to get along with.

I only rarely catch this, but they totally faked me out with showing Crying Hat Boy talking to his mama on their productplacement phones – I thought he was a goner for sure.

However. I have to ask, because my prom was in '85… do girls really want to wear shortshort dresses that make them look like they’ve got huuuuuge waists to their proms, nowadays? Because, that was about half of what walked down the runway. They made those poor girls look awful.

Particularly the “winning” dress, which had the same profile as putting a beerbarrel on suspenders and sending her down the runway in that.

Sweet Pee was best, I thought. I didn’t get Chris’s “fag” joke in the sewing room because I couldn’t make out the first part of it. Did anyone hear it?

“What would you call the Flinstones if they were gay?”

“Fags.”

I laughed.

I thought Victorya’s dress was apalling and I couldn’t believe the judges praising it. I thought Ricky’s was an absolute nightmare (it looked like she was wearing a towel with a sparkly belt), and he needs to go home immediately.

Very sad to see Kevin go home. I liked the guy a lot, and I’m glad I wasn’t the only one thinking, “Damn, no more shirtless Kevin.”

This is as big of an upset as the Alison/Vincent fiasco from season three.

God Dammit, Victorya. Not only was that dress hideous, it was totally derivative of season 3 ‘Mychael’ Knight’s design for the spoiled snit of the week on that one episode of ‘super sweet 16’ or whatever that execrable show is called. Don’t pretend you didn’t watch that, yo. Same reverse cleavage, same silhouette, same ugly big sparkles glued on (though his were mirrors) - except Mychael’s design didn’t make the little tramp’s boobs look saggy with that those sad lines up top. I was sorely disappointed in Mychael, who I liked a lot in season 3, when he did it; YOU certainly don’t deserve to win the friggin’ CHALLENGE for it. Just because you both spell your names with needless Ys doesn’t mean you have to copy him in other ways. And it was FUG. Are all 16 year olds (or old people who think they know what 16 year olds want) retarded?

I liked Sweet P’s design (for once) very much, and loved her color/fabric choice compromise, but the dress was too long and messed up the silhouette a bit. Kit’s was one of the sort of interesting ones so I’m surprised they didn’t talk about it at all. Her model did look 30, as did most of the models at showtime, but maybe that one wasn’t Kit’s fault. Rami’s was SO not a prom dress, and the fabric choice was aging. Kevin’s wasn’t either, but the hemline seemed liked one of the least of its problems, so I hope it was just the editing that made it seem like they were harping on and on about it. Jillian’s was kind of a nice idea but pucker city and badly fitted. Christian, I admit you had a pill to work with - I know someone who looks and acts just like that and I sympathize, but c’mon, she looked like a turd in that and you were a whiny coward. I want you to leave and am annoyed that the judges will probably never make it happen. Ricky’s was boring but the color and styling were better than Kevin’s 40-year-southeast-asian-escort look. Actually, I kind of liked that color on her, it was a little fairylike. Chris’s looked the most like a prom dress, if not terribly creative. It looks pretty good in the pictures. I forgot if the boob problem was solved.

My household is running out of reasons to watch, Bravo. I admit hers was the shabbiest dress last week (but NOT the most boring/point-missing), but first you have to auf my fairy princess Elisa, now you auf Viridiano’s favorite (though not really one of mine), Beardy. Once you eliminate Fatty, which you almost certainly will, there will be not one contestant left who doesn’t annoy us.

I guess I think Sweet P should have won this one, and loser was a toss-up between Beaner and Beardy, but really, bluh. The bad ones weren’t that far off from the rest, and the good ones weren’t all that standout. And there’s something about this season’s casting and the judges’ thought processing…I’m not really excited to watch anymore. Maybe I can go back to my “no reality TV in the house at all” rule this year.

I thought Sweet Pea’s dress, was well made and certainly elegant, but not quite prom. A little too elegant, and risque from the side view.

Chris should have been in the top three.

Kevin didn’t seem to have his eyes on the prize when he talked in the work room about not hemming his dress.

I don’t understand Victorya’s win. The dress wasn’t flattering, the weird giraffe walk was a bad call, and am I the only one who saw hew gluing giant rhinestones and thought “Bedazzler”?

That and I thought it was a bubble silhouette (which I refuse to believe flatters anyone) and on season 2 they gave Andre so much flak for his barbie bubble skirt.

There I was, watching and I said, “Hey Christian, at least you don’t need to PANIC about your dress with that shit-bag Victorya’s making!”

AND THEN SHE WON. WHAT THE HELL.

I would’ve placed Chris’ as the winner, with Sweet P and Kit rounding out the top 3. Bottom 3 would’ve been Kevin, Ricky and Christian (with Ricky getting the auf).

One thing was really clear about this episode: the judges are way out of touch with prom season and have no clue.

This thread always makes me 4 kinds of happy.

I have a four-season-long streak of NEVER choosing the winning outfit, and about 75% of the time not choosing the losing outfit.

It makes me glad to come in here and see that I’m not frackin’ insane about my fashion sense.

Remember last season, when the judges reprimanded the designers for “re-making the Seven Year Itch dress”? That’s exactly what I thought Kevin did, although they didn’t show the judges saying those words. It may not have been imaginative, but it wasn’t awful either. Christian’s dress was awful.
Does anyone like dresses that curl under at the hem, like Victorya’s and Ricky’s? I think they look blobby.
Sweet P and Chris clearly had the best dresses.

Christian’s dress really was awful. I’m no designer, but I can’t believe that a dress should look like it’s terminally bunched up, and five inches shorter in the back than the front. The color was bad. The black on brown was almost invisible. And I don’t like that look — whatever it’s called — where it looks like a long petticoat is hanging below the hem.

What are the judges smoking this season?

Ricky (and his stupid little hats) should have been finally gone. His design was awful. The silohuette was unflattering and the color was dreadful.

Princess Puffysleeves was hilarious. Watching him deal with someone as bossy as he is was priceless even if the dress was all kinds of serious ugly.

I would have picked Sweet P for the win. That gown was elegant and had a beautiful color.

VictorYa’s was just as boring as ever.

I didn’t get last night at all.

I was glad that the girls were able to choose their designers, instead of vice-versa, like they did with the oms last year.
